The Language House TEFL

The Language House was a great experience. While the course is challenging, it prepares new teachers for any and all challenges that new teachers might encounter in the classroom. The staff is very supportive and will answer any questions you might have. The Language House has the best TEFL course in Prague and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in teaching English abroad. Since graduating from the Language House, I have taught in Prague, South Korea, and the United States. I just wanted to email you to tell you I took the Language House's TEFL course in Prague and I strongly recommend and support the school. The staff is amazing and so knowledgeable, the course is laid out extremely well. It was a challenging course, but I felt very prepared to be in a classroom after I graduated. I could not recommend this course enough to anyone interested in teaching abroad.

I had been teaching for 5 years before i took the TEFL course at TLH but i had no idea what teaching was really like. The course was demanding and challenging but very rewarding in the end. the methodology was excellent, Indigo is an awesome director/trainer, and the place...well...it's Prague. i had a very good time and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Since graduating from the course i have been working for the largest and most successful language school in san diego and i am now teaching english at USD, a private university in san diego.

The Language House provided me with excellent skills, resources, training, and actually even helped me find work in Prague. I felt confident to teach English after taking the TEFL class with the Language House and even met alot of interesting people. I work at Prague College teaching Interactive Media and Sound Production, but I have a lot taught English there. I also teach English at the Prague Post and privately. Prior to this I worked for Threshold Training Associates, teaching English all the time.

The Language House was an incredible experience. I recently got my teaching certificate to teach at public schools in the USA and The Language House was a far better preparation for teaching than my entire certification stateside. While in the Czech Republic I was able to teach at Charles University, the finest University in all of Eastern and Central Europe and never felt like I was lacking in the skills to take on any class.

I had a wonderful time at The Language House. I found the instructors to all be incredibly knowledgeable, and so helpful! I didn't know a thing about English grammar before I took the course, and afterward I felt completely competent in that area. The Language House is also one big family which was really nice. I felt like I made life long friends from the get go. I taught some freelance English courses, I worked for a small school called Barevny and I worked for Berlitz.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the TEFL experience, it was great fun, really enjoyable and the teaching was excellent I thought. We received all the vital training we needed and were worked hard which was a real plus point as it was great preparation. We also received really valuable hands on teaching practice which helped me a great deal in building confidence and preparing for life as a teacher. All in all I would definitely recommend the language house to anyone wanting to do TEFl as i feel the experience was really relevant and useful from start to finish. The Language school I believe is the best with TEFL Certification at least in Central and Eastern Europe. The staff go out of their way to help you when needed but really push you so that you achieve your max potential. I felt proud graduating from The Language House. It is definitely not an easy TEFL Certification in Prague but certainly the best place to get it done. There is a strict selection process at The Language House and if you are accepted to do the course, you will come out as one of the best teachers in the city.

The Language House prepared me for teaching English in Prague perfectly - the course was well structured and the large amount of practice teaching time with real students helped immensely. Who could feel nervous doing a demo lesson at an interview when you've just spent the last four weeks doing one every day? The teaching skills learnt are also extremely transferable - I now work teaching children in Asia and the same methodology has served me well (despite the very different teaching style!) I have had numerous interviews in three different countries since gaining with my TEFL Certificate and am happy to be able to say that I have been offered every job I've gone for. In Prague, schools even commented that graduates from The Language House were their preferred choice for new teachers! I worked for a year in Prague, then in Phuket (Thailand) and now in Taipei (Taiwan).

I had a truly wonderful experience at the Language House. It was a great way to meet people and feel comfortable in a foreign country within a day or so of arriving. I had an excellent instructor (Chris Westergaard), and I felt like I was really made to understand the processes, methodology and the material before I was just thrown into a job. The Language House provided me with wonderful friendships that have continued on past my year in Prague and into my next year in Asia. I worked for Threshold in Prague as well as for the Language House in 2008-2009. I especially loved my courses with the Language House, as I felt in complete control of my classes in a very relaxed environment and less of the BS that I got from my other school. Though I enjoyed my classes with both schools. This last year I have been teaching children in Taipei, Taiwan. It has been a different experience as teaching kids is much different than teaching adults, but I have been extremely thankful for my training from the Language House as I feel it has really given me an advantage over other English teachers. Next year, I will move to Dublin, Ireland to get my Masters' in International Peace Studies. I am actually still hoping to be able to teach some private lessons if I can find any foreigners who are looking for a teacher. I think my experiences with TEFL have really helped me gain a lot of perspective, see the world and meet some of the most wonderful and interesting people. I think it will really help me in my future career and future traveling endeavors. I have continued to highly recommend the Language House to anyone I know who is looking to live abroad. It was a perfect experience for me in a perfect city that is well worth spending at least one year of your life in!

My name is Jamie States. I just wanted you to know that I took the TEFL course at The Language House in Prague, Czech Republic, August 2007. I found the course overall to be extremely good. It thoroughly prepared me to be an ESL teacher. Immediately after finishing the course I took an ESL job in China where I frequently used the teaching techniques that I learned at The Language House. I returned to Canada a couple of months ago and was required to take a TESOL Canada approved TESOL course. I just completed that and found the standards and quality of the two programs to be identical.

I have recently learned that The Language House, a TEFL certification school in Prague, is being placed under new management. Namely, the management of Chris Westergaard, former head teacher. I can only applaud this development, because Chris Westergaard was the heart and soul of The Language House when I took my course there a few years ago. And, as TEFL programs go, I can't imagine a better formula than The Language House's program. I chose The Language House over several other equally qualified schools by chance, but I have never once regretted it. Due to the school's small scale and dedicated, energetic staff, each student there recieves a lot of continuous support and individual attention. The staff also gave whatever support they can outside of the classroom, going out of their way to provide the students with central, affordable housing and sacrificing their time to take out the students and show them the city. The quality of the training itself, is second to none. It is extremely challenging, and often the prospect of preparing a lesson for a class of Czech students in a few hours can seem overwhelming. But at the end of the course you truly feel ready to teach all students of all ages and all English-levels. Thanks in no small part to The Language House and Chris Westergaard, my six months in Prague were the best of my life. With The Language House's help and their highly valued TEFL cerificate in my pocket, I was able to secure a job as a NATO Language Instructor at the Czech Ministry of Defence in no time. I just want to make sure your site sufficiently appreciates what a quality school The Language House is.

I am writing to inform you of my experience with the Language House's TEFL course which I attended in July 2006. I feel the TEFL course at the Language house not only prepared me to teach and helped me find a job at a university in the Czech Republic, but the instructors went out of their way to ensure as much as possible that every student got the most out of their experience. Since taking the course the instructors have continued to provide help whenever asked for advice or letters of rec, even over 3 years after graduating from the course. I would highly recommend the course to anyone thinking of teaching English in the future.

I attended the Language House TEFL course in August of 2007. I found the program and instructors to be excellent. Since then I have been teaching English in Taiwan and I know this course helped me get a job with one of the best schools in the city.

I highly recommend it. I took it 3 years ago and it was excellent prep for starting teaching. I was far better prepared than 90% of teachers I've met since. The only other courses I've seen that were as good are ITI in Istanbul and ILA in Vietnam. A TEFL Cert. is a very basic start to the field of ELT, but Chris' course was excellent both in the way it was run and in the training it provided. I'm now in my 3rd year of teaching and work as a Director of Studies at a school here in Istanbul as well as doing teaching training for Macmillan Publishers and running/training on a TESOL Cert. IV course for an Australian teacher training outfit.
