The program offers about 100 placements for international volunteers to stay for one year in Germany and share the life and work of an anthroposophical social institution. Most of the host projects are in the field of care for people with special needs or care for elderly people. The volunteers will take part in the Governmental Federal Voluntary Service Programme which has been set up by the Germany Government. Volunteers will have a voluntary service agreement with the Federal Government as well as with the coordinating organization Friends of Waldorf Education. The programme is based on the regulations set by the new Governmental Federal Voluntary Service Act. Please ask for further information.
25 days off reflection seminars within an international group.
We look for people who:
- bring along a strong individual motivation for voluntary work within a social institution, especial with mentally disabled people.
- are open towards sharing the life within a socially orientated community
- are seeking for self-awareness and are willing to gain experiences within a new cultural and working context.
Applicants have to meet the following conditions:
- at least 18 years old (no max. age limit)
- have basic German language knowledge
- do a two weeks practical work experience before application in their home country
No participation fee.
The voluntary service is free of charge. Participants only have to take their travel expenses to Germany and back home themselves. Volunteers receive during their service:
- pocket money, 150 EUR per month
- free insurances (health, third-party, accident and other insurance parts of the German social security system)
- free board and lodging
- 25 days of reflection seminars in Germany within an international group as well as staff support
- travel costs to the seminars during their voluntary service

We have actively promoted Waldorf education and freedom within the education system since 1971. We support Waldorf kindergartens, Waldorf schools, other educational initiatives, curative education and social therapeutic institutions as well social work projects.
