The main reason for my decision to study at ACU was because I knew then and I know now that there is so much more in the world than what I have been taught in the United States, in regards to culture, religion, personal preferences, politics, business strategies, and society as a whole. The best experience I have had at ACU was on a class trip to Moreton Island. I was able to snorkel with sharks and many other fish around ship wrecks about 100 yards off the beach. It was a truly magical experience and opened my eyes to how beautiful Australia really is. The small atmosphere is very enjoyable and establishes a real sense of connection which I am unfamiliar with in the US. Having small class sizes gave me the ability to really learn about students that I was surrounded with as well as staff. The facilities in Brisbane are very clean and kept up. It honestly is gorgeous the view of the Brisbane city is on the top of my list as well as the miles of grassland and gardens that surround the back of the campus. The service at ACU whether it is in the cafeteria, book store, student centre, or in the international office exceeds all past experiences I have had. The most important experience I have had at ACU was to connect with the international office. The staff was very opening and caring for problems that I was going through while studying abroad. The staff not only helped me survive in Australia but achieve goals that I set prior to coming to Australia such as: finding work, finding housing, and becoming involved in the student body at ACU. The staff organized trips with all study abroad students which allowed me to network and meet people from all grasps of life. After graduation I plan on furthering my education in accounting abroad. My experience in Australia at ACU has really opened my eyes to how much opportunity exists in other areas of the world than the US. The fact of the matter is I came to ACU to open myself for networking with people from all over the world and I believe in doing so I have opened the possibility of one day returning to further my knowledge of this market and pursue a career in Australia.
