Best decision I have ever made!
November 10, 2023by: Shelbie Tyndall - United StatesI am so glad I took this course at ITA Costa Rica. The community is so welcoming, Mike is an amazing instructor, and everyone involved with this school is kind, helpful, and genuine. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. This course has changed my life and I would recommend it to anyone who is considering getting TEFL certified.
Do it!
November 09, 2023by: Livia Foust - United StatesI had a wonderful time living in Barva and taking this amazing course. If you are on the fence, I would say to just do it! You will learn so much. I am really excited to start my TEFL career in Costa Rica.
It was great!
July 28, 2023by: Alexander Holcomb - United StatesI really enjoyed my time in Barva learning from everyone at ITA. They helped a lot with job guidance, and while they don't say they can guarantee a job placement, it won't be hard because of ITA's connections.
Hi Alexander - Thanks for taking the time to share your experience - we appreciate it! - The ITA Team
Great experience!
June 22, 2023by: Nathan Fuff - EnglandITA Costa Rica has been an amazing experience. I have learnt so much and had such a good time. Instructors are amazing and there is a real sense of community here that you feel straight away and really helps in adjusting to life abroad.
The alumni network is no joke
June 22, 2023by: Maddie Smith - United StatesThe network of alumni and well as connections between ITA and the local community of Ticos and ITA alumni is phenomenal. I started playing football twice a week, making friends, and truly building a supportive community that made me feel at home. ITA staff are both involved with these various communities and help facilitate a genuinely immersive experience.
Just do it!
June 21, 2023by: Stephanie Taylor - United StatesIf you are on the website, you're already halfway there. Taking this course in Costa Rica was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. The course is definitely challenging, but so worth it. Mike is an amazing teacher! The ITA community here and the people of Costa Rica are so friendly and open. You won't regret this!

It was a great experience
March 31, 2023by: David Ramos - United StatesI had no doubt that I was gonna have an enjoyable experience, but the amount of resources and assistance for getting jobs and housing that is available and the thoroughness of the course and the care for the students surprised me in a good way.
Amazing
March 29, 2023by: Elizabeth Van Dam - United StatesThe teachers and staff were great, my husband came with and worked remotely , so we chose to do an air bnb on our own. Would definitely recommend looking more closely at the location, if I had it to do over again. The class is difficult , but very rewarding and worth all the hard work. Location is great Barva is a charming town, we did travel on weekends and Costa Rica is amazing. May be moving here for 6 months out of the year, sooner rather than later. Just the best!
What are you waiting for?
March 04, 2023by: Kaleb DeCora - United StatesThe only way to know for sure if this is a career you want to pursue, is to enroll and jump in with both feet. This course is intense, so be ready. That being said, it's changed my life in four very short weeks. Talk to your advisor. Save up some money and enroll. You won't regret it, even if you decide you don't like teaching. There's so many lessons to be learned from life abroad that transcend grammar and the classroom. Don't waste your time with other schools, ITA is the preferred school for most employers in the country. They recruit you. I don't have a bad thing to say about the school or the country. . . except the cold showers are sometimes not so welcoming :) Nos vemos, pura vida!
A chance to learn and share while traveling
January 25, 2023by: Ellen Clark - United StatesI have always been intrigued by the Latino culture, I wanted to experience the language and culture but not as a tourist. I wanted to see what daily life is like for myself. ITA gave me the chance to do that with the opportunity to attend a challenging school that elicits dynamic potential. I felt supported and encouraged every step of the way. My classmates were all on board and it was a lot of fun. There were a couple of times when it was really hard and so intense I wasn't sure I could keep up but I kept going with encouragement from the staff. I will be sharing that encouragement with the students I teach as we all have struggles to overcome and working on them together makes the world a better place.

Amazing program!
December 16, 2022by: Emma McWhorter - United StatesThis program is honestly one of the best things I have ever been a part of. I was super nervous about coming to another country by myself and having to learn about a field I have never studied or been apart of. The teacher, support staff, and my other classmates were there for me every step of the way and helped me find the job of my dreams.
One of the best decisions I ever made!
August 31, 2022by: Anika Carlson - United StatesThroughout the last month, I have learned and grown so much as both a teacher and a person. I never imagined that I could have so much fun in such a tough course. I made life-long connections and countless memories which I will treasure for the rest of my life.

The course was intense!
August 31, 2022by: Leon Arries - South AfricaThe course was extremely tough. You have to work hard and plan your schedule well. Dont procrastinate. My host family was great. I had to get use to the food in the beginning. The area i stayed in was very safe. I struggled with Spanish and the language barrier was a problem in the beginning, but I got use to it. The people are generally friendly. The cost of living is a bit high. I had to watch how much money I spent all the time not to run out of money.
Hi Leon, Thanks for sharing your experience and your perspective - we really appreciated it. Cheers - The ITA Team
You won't regret it!
June 14, 2022by: Tessa Faitala - United StatesTaking the ITA Costa Rica course was the best decision I have made in a long time. Mike, Melanie, Karen, and Georgia are incredible! They are so helpful and knowledgeable. I know that when I come back to Costa Rica I'll have their support! WARNING! Week one is the hardest week. It is a lot of new info and you're in a new place and it is a little overwhelming! Don't get discouraged. Everyone feels that way and it DOES get better. Use your weekends to see new things and get ahead on homework. Pura Vida!
Hi Tessa, Thanks for taking the time to write a review and share your perspective. The entire ITA team in Costa Rica & worldwide appreciate it. Remember, we are dedicated to your success, so get in touch at any time for support with your job search or other questions about teaching abroad and online. Cheers - The ITA Team
Amazing experience at ITA Costa Rica!
March 03, 2022by: Aliyah Llewellyn - United KingdomGenuinely so so happy that I have done this course. In 4 short weeks, Mike and Melanie have whipped a rag-tag bunch of strangers into a squad of super teachers. I feel so much more confident in myself and knowledge now, and I really would recommend the course to everyone. Costa Rica is an amazing country and I feel really grateful to have had the support of ITA Costa Rica whilst settling in here. Thank you so much to everyone at ITA Costa Rica!
Best decision ever!
January 27, 2022by: Crystal DeFreitas - United StatesMy expierence at ITA Costa RICA was truly life changing. From the moment I stepped touched down in the country to the day we finally said our goodbyes the staff here have truly created a welcoming family atmosphere and have been on hand to guide us through everything from conditionals to Casava. The class is intense, more so then it is possible to prepare you for until you are in the midst of it but the relationships you are able to build and the experences you have will be with you long after your final lessons are submitted and you've moved on to the next chapter of your international teaching carrear. In fact, I was so captivated by Costa Rica and so emboldened by my time at ITA that i have decided to stay in the country and remain surrounded by all the beautiful things that this part of the world has to offer. It is much easier to take this big risk knowing that I have been so well prepared to integrate into both work and society here and that the ITA family is here to help if I need it. They really are a remarkable, talanted and hardworking group of people and I am so thrilled that I chose ITA Costa Rica!!
The best decision I ever made
December 06, 2021by: Nicole Coxson - United StatesI really enjoyed ITA Costa Rica. I learned a great deal. I truly enjoyed the instructors and their teaching style. They were very helpful throughout the whole process. They assured no one was left behind. The course was tough but its the fact that its tough that makes it a great program. I feel very well prepared to teach. I don't think any other program could have prepared me this well. They were beyond helpful. Its definitely possible to have a job before the end of the course. They provide you with plenty of resources to help with that. I will always remember ITA and its instructors. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
An awesome immersive experience!
October 13, 2021by: Nada Ali - St. Kitts and NevisEven if you don't want to teach English forever, doing this course will change your life. The classwork is very intense but its okay because your instructors and peers are awesome! You will make a ton of new life long relationships and have a comprehensive knowledge of the english language. I highly recommend staying at the home stay.
A course that will prepare you for what is next!
October 12, 2021by: A future TEFL teacher - United StatesThis course was amazing! It was definitely challenging - be prepared to dedicate your month to getting the course done! You will be glad you did! It is such a wonderful experience! The course was hard but the instructors made sure we were prepared to teach! I felt super supported through the program and I felt confident by the end that I would be able to use these skills in any environment to teach English. Also, the whole experience of being in Costa Rica is amazing! The location, the people, the food is all incredible! Thank you ITA Costa Rica! Pura Vida!
