I would recommend CIEE because the staff were amazing , the host family was nice, the teachers were understanding, the events were very educational, and the environment was pleasant. I would maybe hesitate to recommend it completely because I do not feel/understand the high price of studying aboard for one semester. I was lucky because of Financial Aid but for others I do not know if it is worth it to go when the price is so high. However, I am not an economist and in reality I know very little when it comes to these aspects, I just thought I'd give my opinion.

Once in a lifetime experience to live abroad. Lots of scholarships available to make the trip affordable. Incredible staff (Katya Kavchenko and Ira Vasilyevna specifically were incredible). Host of activities and cultural events. I stayed busy with my classes, touring the city and living. Absolutely one of the most memorable experiences of my college career.

While I had an enriching experience in Russia in general, the CIEE program focused too much on class and not enough on exploring the city, I'm not sure I would recommend it. I wish my courses had incorporated more of St. Petersburg and it's culture.

This program I would recommend to everyone remotely interested in the Eastern European culture! It was a fantastic experience.

I would recommend because even the people who didn't know how to behave learned to. I learned a lot of the Russian language in a few weeks. We went to over 30 museums in 6 weeks. Downside was just that I lived a host family in a communist-style apartment building and the water was brown and I slept on a fold-out chair.

And you have to be careful at night -- it is Russia after all. But overall I would recommend this program.
