Women's Studies Study Abroad Programs in France

Apply to our Paris program and get the chance to attend French culture and language, business, and/or elective courses based on your academic goals! Your choices of institutions are the American Business School Paris (ABSP), the Cours de Civilization Française de la Sorbonne (CCFS), and the Institut Catholique de Paris. All courses, except French language and some culture courses, are taught in English by guest lecturers and international professors. Our Paris office is located in the Latin Quarter, across the Seine River from the Notre Dame Cathedral. Enjoy full access to our facilities, amenities, and resources; ensuring you have everything you need while in Paris. The “City of Light” is rich in academia, culture, tradition, luxury, and history. It has distinct personalities you can observe from the two banks of the Seine River. CIEE Semester Internships CIEE Semester Global Internships are 9 to 13-credit, 12-week programs that feature a full-time internship (approximately 30 hours weekly), a seminar, and an optional 3 to 4-credit academic course online. CIEE Semester Intern and Study Abroad Programs are 12 to 14-credit, 12-week programs that feature a part-time internship​ (approximately 20 hours weekly), a seminar, and two academic courses.

The French-speaking world is a dynamic melting pot of language, history, and culture. Visit three prominent Francophone host cities in one semester—Paris, France; Rabat, Morocco; and Dakar, Senegal—for an interdisciplinary and reflective approach to study abroad. Discuss and analyze poignant topics in various fields while learning from each host city's perspective. All students take one common course, Introduction to France, Morocco, Senegal: Three Worlds, One Language, and choose the remaining three courses from the available course selection in literature, history, political science, gender studies, art history, economics, and more. All courses are taught in French by local professors highly regarded in their respective fields of study. Individual language support is organized each week. Take advantage of each host city's culture by participating in various thoughtfully planned cultural activities and excursions included in the program. Each student stays with a host family in every location. This is available for study abroad, gap year, or leave of absence. We also have online course options available. A city à decouvrir, Paris is an invitation to experience all the world's cultures while maintaining a proud and distinctly French feeling. Le Centre Madeleine, the headquarters of the Middlebury School in France, is located in the 8th arrondissement, close to the Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Elysées. Students enroll in courses across several disciplines at the Centre Madeleine and one of several affiliated Paris universities. The Middlebury - C.V. Starr Schools Abroad are characterized by a commitment to language development. Students sign and honor the Language Pledge, promising to speak only the target language during their time abroad. Those already at an advanced level of French come away from the program with superior language skills and the knowledge gained from an authentic study abroad experience.

The École Pratique de Service Social (EPSS), a historic social work school within CY Paris Université, awards accredited academic degrees that combine rigorous theory with professional practice. Its Paris Summer School of Social Work is a highly immersive and intensive program exploring the French social work system. The curriculum features seminars on topics like child protection and migration, complemented by site visits to social service organizations and internship opportunities. Designed for social work, psychology, and sociology majors, as well as professionals, the program offers meaningful exposure to social work in France within an international context.

This program is designed for students taking a gap year and looking to spend it learning French while experiencing life in Paris. The program is structured to help you reach a B2 level in French—the minimum language requirement for admission into most French universities. At the end of the course, you’ll have the opportunity to take the official DELF exam. With 15 hours of French classes per week, the program offers the flexibility to balance your studies with part-time work. As an international student in France, you're allowed to work up to 964 hours per year (approximately 20 hours per week), giving you the chance to gain valuable experience while supporting your stay.
