Literature Study Abroad Programs in France

Take part in the French Language and European Studies program offered by USAC in Pau, France. The program provides students with the opportunity to study the French language intensively while taking academic courses. The Pau program's intensive language approach lets students complete the equivalent of up to one and a half years of language coursework in a university in only one semester. Participants can take additional courses in Art History, Culture, Film, Political Science, and Literature. These courses are taught either in French or English, depending on the semester. They also get the chance to enroll in integrated courses alongside international students at the University of Pau. Due to the global health status worldwide, USAC is making programmatic changes to summer, fall, and year-long programs, and some options might not be available. Spend a semester or academic year in the incomparable city of Paris, France, with AIFS Abroad! You’ll earn up to 16 credits per semester while studying at the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne (CCFS), part of the University of Paris. Courses are taught in English or French—no previous French language study is required. Study-abroad students have many opportunities to impact the Paris community through volunteer work! AIFS Abroad helps arrange local placements with charities and organizations such as Les Restos du Coeur, which distributes food and hot meals to homeless people; Emmaüs, which provides literacy programs and leisure activities for disadvantaged children; and Secours Populaire, a charity that provides access to health facilities, education and food for those in need. At NYU Paris, you’ll practice your French language skills while being immersed in French culture. If you’re a beginner, you’ll take courses taught in both French and English. But if you have some knowledge, you’ll take all of your courses in French. Courses include "France and the European Union: Europe in Crisis," "Fundamentals of Machine Learning," and "Writing Paris." Our French Language Immersion & Area Studies Program has two important goals: to improve your written and verbal proficiency in French through language and area studies courses and to introduce you to contemporary France and its role in the European Union. A beautiful city on the Loire River, Nantes is the perfect place to perfect your French. For more than 50 years, this program has been offering students the opportunity to fully integrate into French society and function completely in French, thanks to the program’s focus on full immersion and the fact that there are few Anglophones in Nantes. This program has a close relationship with the Université de Nantes, so you will have many opportunities to enroll in local university courses. IES Abroad courses are taught in French by native French faculty, many of whom are professors at the Université de Nantes. You also have access to the university libraries, computer labs, cafeterias, and sports facilities, and you are welcome to join student clubs and other social and sports organizations. It meets major requirements for students specializing in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Special Education.
