My Experience Studying Abroad in London
September 05, 2025by: Avery Condon - United StatesInitially I was hesitant to study abroad due to never being to another country before. However, a few of my peers recommended Arcadia to me due to their semester-long program in London. Thus, I decided to take a chance and apply. Several months later, I was landing in Heathrow Airport and being greeted by Arcadia staff. From the onboarding process to the departure process, Arcadia was there for me every step of the way. Their staff does everything they can to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I personally cannot recommend Arcadia enough after experiencing their program in London. However, they are not just limited to London. They offer study abroad programs in many other countries too.
London has a special place in my heart!
August 22, 2025by: Jamai Vann - United StatesLondon will always have a special place in my heart! London has always been on the list of places I wanted to travel to outside of the US, and I am beyond grateful that I was able to travel there with Arcadia Abroad. Arcadia Abroad emphasizes hands-on, interactive learning and encourages its students to step outside their comfort zones and venture into the unknown. The care, compassion, and attentiveness expressed by professors at the London Learning Center encouraged me to utilize my voice inside the classroom and gave me the courage to contribute to class discussions. Being housed in the Princess Elizabeth House allowed me to meet new students who attend Arcadia, and other students from various universities studying alongside Arcadia. I was able to participate in university excursions while abroad, and had the privilege of traveling throughout Europe with friends! My experience with Arcadia in London is one I won't forget, and I plan to study abroad again in the future.

5 Star Experience - Had a time of my life
February 07, 2025by: Demitri Spyrious - GreeceProgram: Lite Regal Education Engineering Preparation, UK (Age 15-18)
As an 18-year-old student from Greece, studying a 2-week Engineering Preparation Course with Lite Regal Education at Hugh’s Hall College, University of Cambridge, was an incredible experience. The program provided a perfect introduction to engineering, covering topics such as mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering through interactive lectures and hands-on projects. The instructors, many of whom had Cambridge and Oxford backgrounds, were inspiring and always encouraged critical thinking. Living in Hugh’s Hall College dorms made the experience even more immersive. The historic college setting, excellent study facilities, and vibrant international community made me feel like a real Cambridge student. The accommodation was comfortable, and sharing meals with students from around the world created a great sense of camaraderie. Beyond academics, Lite Regal Education organized exciting extracurricular activities, including punting, college tours, and social evenings, allowing us to explore Cambridge’s rich history and culture. Guest lectures from industry professionals provided valuable career insights, making the experience truly well-rounded. Overall, this course deepened my passion for engineering, developed my skills, and gave me a true taste of university life. I highly recommend it to any student considering engineering as a future career!

What an adventure!
September 16, 2024by: Huiyi Lin - United StatesProgram: Study Engineering Abroad with CEA
Traveling to Buenos Aires was an incredible experience! I was nervous initially since it was my first study-abroad experience. I was unfamiliar with the culture, environment, and language and did not know what to expect. The warm hospitality and generosity I received from on-site program staff and locals guided me through all the ups and downs of the experience. The program challenged me to come out of my comfort zone both academically and socially. We attended physics classes at a local university and a sports and contemporary culture class right after. We learned about the history of the country and experienced the Argentinians' passion for futbol firsthand by attending games. My friends and I explored the city after classes, trying out some of the many cafes and restaurants on every corner. Buenos Aires had a very reliable transportation system as well, so it was easy for us to travel from our apartment in Palermo to other neighborhoods in the city like Belgrano, La Boca, and Recoleta. Each neighborhood had something different and wonderful to offer. We often ran into cultural fairs, art festivals, fresh farmer markets, and live performances. There was something fun to discover every day. On the weekends, we traveled outside of the city to see the numerous natural landscapes in Argentina. We saw the falls at Iguazu, went horseback riding in Mendoza, went hiking at the Perito Moreno Glacier and El Chalten, and even visited a cute portside town in Uruguay. Although my time in Argentina was short, the incredible people, food, and music are a memory I will never forget.

September 30, 2023by: Sydney Dresser - United StatesProgram: Study Engineering Abroad with CEA
My study abroad experience with CEA program was truly transformative. From excellent academic offerings that seamlessly integrated local culture to meaningful cultural immersion experiences, this program exceeded my expectations. Living with a host family and engaging in various activities allowed me to embrace the host culture fully. The personal growth I experienced, from increased independence to a broader worldview, was invaluable. The support from program coordinators and the close-knit community of fellow participants made this journey even more memorable. I returned home with lifelong friendships, a richer perspective, and a newfound confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend the CEA program to any student seeking a life-enriching study abroad adventure.
Good first time experience
June 20, 2022by: Maxwell Cheng - United StatesProgram: Study Engineering Abroad with CEA
On-site staff were excellent and very helpful. Housing was pretty good and my roommates were great. I’m glad there were several trips to other parts of Italy they organized since it allowed me to learn more about Italy. However there were some issues with the organizers and my university in the USA.
Wonderful experience in Rome, Italy
June 19, 2022by: Khalil Delaney - United StatesProgram: Study Engineering Abroad with CEA
The housing was great. I enjoyed meeting my flat mates. Some of us will remain friends. My Thermodynamics class was tough for me. I think most students struggled some. For those of us engineering students who really need to capture this material for later classes and our fields in engineering; I would nit take this course in a 6 week class. The college and CEA should state that somehow to students before they sign up for it, I will pass the class but feel like I might need to take the course again OR restudy somehow The excursions were great. I enjoyed seeing other parts of Italy. The only think I was not impressed with was the food/dinner places that were a part of the program. I get feeding a lot of students...but I feel there could have been some better restaurant choices. Overall this was great. I am hopeful there will be no issues with getting my transcripts over to my school. This is the last week of class...so I have not done that yet. The communication from the beginning to the end has been outstanding. I didn't miss a beat. They let me know about everything. I would surely do another CEA program if time permitted. Possibly even an internship program. I would also surely let other students know this is a great program, and my experience was a 10 overall. Thank you CEA staff and faculty (USA and Rome, Italy).

Studying in Leeds is an amazing opportunity!
April 02, 2020by: Raeal Staley - United StatesProgram: API: Experience Leeds, England (Scholarships Available)
I studied in Leeds from 09/18/19 - 12/14/19 and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Studying in Leeds allows you to fully immerse and integrate yourself in the life of a UK University student. While in Leeds I took two sociology courses and one history course. I enjoyed the content of my lectures and found the professors to be very engaging. I had about 150-200 students in each of my lectures and about 10-15 students in my seminars for each of my classes. For a housing accommodation, API placed us in an off campus residence hall with four other flatmates. In our flat, there were five individual bedrooms, with a shared bathroom and kitchen. We frequently had flat dinners together, which was really nice and helped all of us bond. Three of my flatmates were from England and one was from France. I loved that I lived with English students because I was able to learn a lot about the English culture from them. I ended up becoming really close with one of my flatmates. I still FaceTime her regularly and she is planning on coming to the US to visit this summer. The residence hall is a beautiful and easy 30-40 minute walk to campus and about a 15 minute bus ride. The bus is very easy and convenient to use, especially when it is raining. The bus pass is pretty cheap to buy and is is easy to use from an app on your phone. The University of Leeds campus and the city center has so much to offer and is absolutely beautiful. I ended up exploring a different part of Leeds every day that I was there. Everyone in Yorkshire is incredibly friendly and I always felt welcomed no matter where I was. I think my favorite part of studying with API was all of the excursions we went on. If you are someone who wants to explore England but might not do so on your own, attending the excursions are a great way to see and learn more about the UK. Our program director gave us historical details about all of the places we traveled to, which made the excursions both fun and educational. I looked forward to each and every one of our excursions. Some of the places we went were Whitby, Lincoln, Hadrian's Wall, Durham, London, a trip to a theatre performance, and a local comedy show. My time abroad definitely impacted my life in a positive way. I made numerous friends that I am still in contact with, I gained a significant amount of independence and confidence from my experience in Leeds and I have also learned to be able to adapt to new situations. If I had had the opportunity, I would have studied there for an entire academic year, or maybe even longer. I will definitely be returning to Leeds sometime in the near future.

Leeds-- the best program few take advantage of
March 26, 2020by: Kelsi Maddock - United StatesProgram: API: Experience Leeds, England (Scholarships Available)
The five months I spent in Leeds during the Spring 2019 semester were easily the best of my academic career, and probably my life. API considers every detail to make an experience perfect: integrating you with British students in your protected housing; offering excursions within Leeds (a show at the Leeds Playhouse, an afternoon tea in the Grand Arcade) and around Great Britain (a weekend in Edinburgh, a trip to plague village Eyam) to give you a real feel of the United Kingdom. Having academics at the University of Leeds is a brilliant endeavor, as I was never the only International student, but still learning beside English scholars in my lectures and seminars. I was able to take more challenging courses that easily transferred onto my home university transcript, proving I learned between nights out in City Centre and cheeky trips to London and Paris. Headingley is far enough from the hustling city that you feel safe when you fall asleep at night but aren't isolated from pubs, charity shops, and sporting events. Everything is within walking distance, but the public transportation is reliable, with bus systems taking you from Headingley to the Docks and everywhere in between, as well as a renovated train station sending you to the coast or Cambridge, and a coach station carrying you to Liverpool. Leeds is everything you would love about London but more intimate with English arts and culture.

Best experience of my life!
December 10, 2019by: Ayn Koscso - United StatesFrom start to finish, there was consist support and guidance in the process of getting situated for studying abroad, as well as continued support when you were in your host university/country. USAC does an amazing job of being thorough and informational in the entirety of the study abroad application process and program! I never felt lost or confused because USAC was always one step ahead!
Perfect balance of studying abroad and being abroad
June 25, 2019by: Schuyler Knapp - United StatesProgram: Study Engineering Abroad with CEA
CEA is the perfect program to study abroad through. The credible courses they offer allowed me to get required credits for my degree, while structuring the academics in such a way I could spend my free time to explore Rome. All of the staff members are friendly and willing to help with any inquiries that the students may have, and the activities that are organized through CEA are a great way to get guided trips to what would be trickier places to go to. Everyone in CEA is constantly looking out for the students and are willing to listen to feedback students have during the trip. The combined effects of all of this has led to the best study abroad experience I could have asked for.
This is music to our ears, Schuyler! Thank you for your thoughtful and thorough review – we are so glad you had a positive experience with our wonderful Rome staff and throughout your study abroad experience! We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Year abroad at Leeds!
January 08, 2019by: Catherine Doucette - United StatesProgram: API: Experience Leeds, England (Scholarships Available)
Studying abroad at the University of Leeds was the best decision I made! The staff at API are very supportive, informative and enthusiastic about international education. What is unique about the program at Leeds is the fact that you are experiencing the English culture through the lens of an English university student. This program is one of the only programs in England where you have the opportunity to live in student halls with English students, attend lectures with local students, and fully immerse yourself within the student community. Leeds is also easily accessible, there is a bus system in the city, a train station downtown, and an airport outside the city. Leeds is located within the countryside, so there is easy access to hiking and exploring historic sites in England. API also includes cultural excursions into the program to further teach you about English culture, such as trips to London, Edinburgh, and historic sites in Yorkshire. Beyond the immersive aspects of the program, Leeds offers a wide range of courses to enroll in. By taking art history courses not offered at my home university, I enhanced my academic studies and strengthened my research skills within the field.
Best way to study abroad as a freshmen
February 23, 2017by: livelovelondonArcadia is one of the few universities with a first year study abroad program. You are guided through the process step by step (they even book your flight for you!) and the fee is only around $600, which includes your flight, airport pickup, etc. Housing is excellent, always in travel zones 1 or 2, I lived in Notting Hill which is one of the nicest neighborhoods in London, and only a few minutes walk from Kensington Gardens. The professors at the Arcadia Centre are amazing and focused on getting you out into the city. Amazing amazing amazing time.
We are thrilled you had an amazing time!
The greatest experience in my time as an undergrad
April 25, 2016by: Meredith Falzone - United StatesStudying abroad was one of the greatest experiences in not only my time as an undergraduate student but also in my life. Arcadia made this opportunity more feasible as the process of applying, preparing and participating was organized and well designed. Advisers were always willing to assist me at every step of the way. I could not have chosen a better program!

Anxious Student Finds Home Away From Home
February 03, 2016by: Jackie O'Leary - PhiladelphiaBefore studying abroad in London, I was beyond anxious and scared. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, and living away from everything and everyone I knew and loved for 5 months seemed impossible. A year later, I still think about my life in London daily, and I have not one regret about studying abroad. The Arcadia program made me feel comfortable almost immediately after stepping off the plane in Heathrow. The first few days, when I was so overwhelmed, Arcadia had activities and information sessions planned, so that I could feel some normalcy and become comfortable in my new home. My best friends from studying abroad came from the Arcadia program because we started out together and were very like-minded...we all wanted an adventure! Throughout the semester, Arcadia had planned trips that made it easy to explore some places, such as Stonehenge, that would have been difficult to do on my own. The staff and directors in London were always very friendly and helpful, and I could tell they wanted to make sure every student had the best experience possible. I highly recommend the Arcadia program at Queen Mary. As a student, you get the security of an American program, but the experience of living and taking classes like a British student at a real college campus in East London. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything, and I'm thankful that I chose this program, because it made my experience abroad the best it could be.
Best experience and choice of university
March 12, 2013by: LaraChoosing the Univeristy of Bristol was the best choice I could of made. The city is the perfect distance from London, it has great nightlight and shops, cafes, and bars, the people are friendly and it is just the right size. On a sunny day especially Bristol is stunning. I was placed with great housemates and in adequate accomodation that had only one or two issues if that. Whilst my course was different to home, this only improved the experience since I got to see other ways in which my major can be studied. Health and Safety: The only nights to watch out for are local nights on Friday and Saturday nights which get a bit rowdy. Otherwise I've felt safe walking home at all hours of the morning.
