I had a wonderful time
July 11, 2026by: Bettina Albrecht - FranceProgram: Bildungsurlaub (Germany)
My time in Sapporo was great! Thanks to the teachers and fellow students that helped make this experience wonderful. I wish I could have stayed longer but after two weeks it was time for me to say sayonara.

One hell of an adventure! Japan felt like a roller coaster and itâs definitely hit a good spot doing my first travel to Japan not a busy city like Tokyo or Osaka. Sapporo was amazing and I loved my school a lot. The teaching was pretty smooth and the activities were my favorite. Be back in Japan soon. Peace
All went well

I had a very packed and intense week with my Bildungszeit in Hokkaido but wonât regret even a second of it. The events were much fun and it was great to meet local Japanese at some of them. For next time two weeks is definitely less of a rush.
Hit just the right spot

Studies been a bit overwhelming but I have to admit my Japanese became rusty. My two weeks in Sapporo flew by so quickly that I almost forgot that it all just ended. I love my instructors and also the very structured course. Highly recommend.

I did two weeks of educational leave in Sapporo with these guys and had a great overall experience. The flight and travel was a bit exhausted but once I arrived in my female sharehouse everything changed. I loved my teachers and the positive vibe during classes. The best was no homework, only if you asked for it. The extracurricular activities and weekend trips were top notch. Hihgly recommend
I had a good time last Winter
June 13, 2026by: Lena Magyar - AustraliaMy time in Hokkaido was good and my Japanese improved a lot. Back in January I went for a month and wanted to explore Hokkaido. The school and instructors made the whole trip worth it. Japanese classes were interactive and events a lot of fun. Recommend.
Super Zeit in Hokkaido
June 05, 2026by: Matthias Lange - GermanyProgram: Bildungsurlaub (Germany)
Winter Japanese studies that changed my view
May 18, 2026by: Valentina Turin - FranceIâve had sooo much fun in Hokkaido and learned the hidden fun up north. The snow activities were much fun. I loved the snow hiking we did to mount moiwa and also the ice festivals they took us to in Sapporo. The classes were fun and instructors paid a lot of attention to maintain an interactive and engaging lessons. Canât wait to visit again!
My Hokkaido language travel
April 27, 2026by: Shakyra Balin - IrelandCouldn't ask for more, would never thought it to be this way. I had an amazing time with friends in my absolute dream country and going up North during the Winter season is a MUST when visiting Japan! The snow festival was so much fun and the powder snow is another level. Besides the social events I had so much time with the Japanese lessons and the very welcoming instructors. My favorite thing was I did not have homework to do :-P
Good study experience with Meiji
April 21, 2026by: LĂĄszlĂł KovĂĄcs - HungaryI stayed 4 weeks in winter course and it was really nice experience. Japanese classes was good and not too hard, teachers very kind. I liked the small class size. Best part was winter activities. We go ice festival, very beautiful with big snow statues. Also mountain hiking was cold but amazing view. Hot spring after that was perfect, very relaxing. I meet many people from different countries and we enjoy together. Even a fellow Hungarian and a few Austrians! Food also very good, especially Miso ramen in cold weather. I want come back again maybe longer time :)

Iâll come back
April 20, 2026by: Raymond Earns - CanadaI always had a fable for Japanâs Nordic reagion and this unique winter program was just made for. The school did a great job in organizing a variety of events and the sightseeing trips and ice festivals were magnificent. 4 weeks were not enough but it gave me a good taste about what I still have on my extended to-do list to take care of after this exciting trip. The classes were at a great pace and I never felt stressed out. I loved the communicative part of it a lot.
Snow, Study & Adventure in Hokkaido with Meiji
April 19, 2026by: Emily Park - AustraliaI spent six weeks with Meiji's winter course in Hokkaido. Studying was great, but what really made it special was everything outside the classroom. The Sapporo Snow Festival was absolutely unreal. Be prepared for huge ice sculptures with my favourite Anime characters and some crazy sculptures. I also got to try skiing and snowboarding for the first time, which was so much fun. After long days in the cold, relaxing in hot springs was honestly the best part. The only thing which was very weird for me is getting fully naked in the hot spring!! hehe We even did some winter hiking, which was peaceful and gave me a whole new appreciation for snowy landscapes you don't really get back in Australia. The balance between study and activities kept things exciting the whole time. It was easily one of the most memorable experiences Iâve had so far.
Spannende Erfahrung mit kleinen organisatorischen SchwÀchen
April 19, 2026by: Corinne Beckert - GermanyProgram: Bildungsurlaub (Germany)
Zwei unvergessliche Wochen in Hokkaido
April 19, 2026by: Anna-Marie Stroberg - GermanyProgram: Bildungsurlaub (Germany)
Super fun with Meiji for 6 weeks
April 16, 2026by: Carla Willhelms - NetherlandsNormally I donât really write about my experience but I think itâs worth sharing this experience for other students considering going to Japan. Please consider Winter and yes, Hokkaido should be definitely on your radar. My time was so much fun and I loved my teachers. The lessons were much focused on group practices and grammar. I like their focus on using day-to-day situations and topics by practicing Japanese, which helped me immensely. One thing I think Meiji with distance out is the activities and social parties they had. I made so many Japanese friends and had a great time. Absolutely loved it.
Winter Sports, Snow fun and a lot of Japanese in between
April 10, 2026by: Lorraine Wonders - New ZealandI went to Hokkaido for six weeks last Winter and had a blast! My instructors were super fun and very attentive to my study needs. As I have dyslexia and need special attention for reading and test practices I was relieved that the Meiji instructors took my concerns serious. At the beginning I was worried how it would turn out but it went really well and everybody was very helpful. Outside of the class there was always something happening. I often went with fellow classmates to explore more Miso Ramen places around the school. Pssst you have to make sure to check them out! The Winter activities were also so much fun. I recommend to always ask the teachers or Kai for recommendations as they are super lovely in helping out with all my queries.
Snow Fun and Nihongo
April 10, 2026by: Monica Warner - AustraliaI had a blast in Hokkaido last Winter with Meiji and enjoyed the Winter activities a lot! My favorite memory was the trip to Mount Moiwa and the ski gliding fun we had with Meiji students in Otaru. Can't wait to come back and meet all:(
2 Wochen Bildungszeit oben in Hokkaido

Iâve always been curious about other cultures and wanted to challenge myself by living somewhere completely different from home. Japan, in particular, fascinated me because of its unique blend of tradition and modernity, and Iâve loved the language and culture for years. Going abroad was a chance to really dive into that world, not just as a tourist, but by living day-to-day life there.

Iâve always been curious about the world beyond my own little bubble. Thatâs really what pushed me to go abroad. Learning a new language while actually living in the country where itâs spoken felt like the perfect way to do that.
