My marketing internship in Shanghai provided hands-on, resume-building experience, while evening Mandarin classes transformed my ability to connect and navigate life in China. GAC’s support system—handling logistics, housing, and professional networking—provided the stability to fully embrace both the challenges and adventures. I explored from ancient towns to megacities, building a global network and a clarified career vision. It was the most strategically valuable and personally enriching year I could have imagined.

This program is total language saturation. From morning classes focused on conversational fluency to afternoons where the city became my classroom, Mandarin ceased to be a subject and became my environment. The homestay was the cornerstone; my host family’s patience and inclusion turned daily routines into practical lessons, from cooking to local customs. Structured activities like calligraphy and tea ceremonies were enjoyable, but the real growth happened in unplanned moments—asking for directions, joking with market vendors, and thinking in Chinese without translation. This isn't just study abroad; it's cultural and linguistic deep-dive training.
