CIEE High School Abroad

My CIEE high school summer abroad changed my life. At 16 years old, I traveled to Sevilla, Spain with CIEE. I realized there that I wanted to pursue a career as a Spanish teacher, and now I am working at a public school in New York doing just that!! Since my amazing experience with CIEE as a student, I’ve also returned to the non-profit to work as a Program Leader supporting other students as they embark on this engaging, unique, and life changing experience. I can’t recommend CIEE enough!!

Going on trips with my school, Ritsumeikan Uji High School, was one of the best parts of the program. Traveling together, exploring new places, and spending time with classmates made the experience more fun and helped us bond.

The beginning of the program, meeting new people, adjusting to new places, and stepping into a completely different environment, along with spending time with friends outside school made the whole experience even more memorable.

My most memorable experience was going to Universal Studios with my new friends from school. Even with the language barrier, it was the first time I truly felt connected with them, and it made the day even more special.

I feel like my Spanish and my confidence have improved a lot. I’ve made friends, spend time hanging out with them, and feel much more comfortable speaking. One moment that really showed my progress was during my school exams. I take Lengua, and I’m the only American in my class. On my first exam, I got a 4.45, which was above the class average but still a failing grade. After studying a lot on my own and with friends, I took the next exam and improved to a 7.45. My teacher even told me how much I had improved, which felt really rewarding.

This program was a truly unforgettable experience. From going on excursions with people from all over America to living with a Japanese host family and attending a local high school, I got a real look into daily life in Japan. Spending time with school clubs and classmates made the experience even more meaningful, and I can say with full confidence it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’d be more than happy to share that experience with peers.

It’s one of the most amazing, life-changing experiences I’ve ever had. I met kind people, saw beautiful art and places, and had unforgettable moments. Traveling around Italy by train was a blast, and visiting Turin was definitely a highlight.

Traveling with my peers in CIEE and sharing everyday moments with my family made this journey unforgettable. From exploring new places together to simple daily routines at home, every moment helped me grow and see the world differently.

I would be very likely to recommend it because I enjoyed my experience so much. I learned a lot of French, traveled to new places, tried different foods, and made friends from many places. Meeting new people and traveling were some of the best parts.

I had an amazing experience, met so many new people, and learned so many new things. Visiting Chichén Itzá and swimming in a beautiful cenote with a platform to jump from were unforgettable highlights of the trip.

I studied in Merida, Mexico in June 2025 with CIEE on the language and culture program. From the moment I started my application, CIEE staff was available to help. They went above and beyond by calling me to ask additional questions about my allergies. Their attention to detail assuaged many of my fears about traveling as I knew the staff was prepared. My homestay enriched my experience by giving me opportunities to practice my language skills and immerse myself in Mexican culture. My favorite memory of my host mom is when she taught me how to make empanadas. Spending hours with her in the kitchen gave me unforgettable memories and valuable knowledge. Despite not knowing anyone when I went on the trip, I made friends quickly and spent most afternoons hanging out with them. Merida is very walkable and Ubers are cheap, so it was very easy to get around the city. We had student IDs and were able to get into some museums for free. I attended daily language classes and we had cultural activities every day to deepen our understanding of Mexican culture. In class, we learned practical language skills focused on conversation. By the end of the program, my Spanish speaking had improved significantly because I had so many opportunities to practice. Whether I was taking an Uber, ordering at a restaurant, or talking with my host mom, there were many opportunities to practice my Spanish. My favorite part of the trip was the overnight excursion to Chichen Itza. It was incredible seeing it in person as it had been on my bucket list for a while. We also got to see some cenotes, which were beautiful. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone looking to improve their language skills and immerse themselves in Mexican culture.

My experience with the CIEE Spanish Language and Culture Program in Palma de Mallorca was overwhelmingly positive and truly transformative. Living with a welcoming host family allowed me to experience authentic Spanish culture, try new foods, and practice my language skills daily. Taking university-level Spanish classes deepened my understanding of the language while immersing me in an academic environment abroad. Beyond the classroom, cultural activities and excursions helped me connect with the island’s history and people, creating lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. This program not only strengthened my Spanish but also gave me a new sense of independence and appreciation for global perspectives.

My time during study abroad with CIEE was something I’ll never forget. It’s normal to be scared to fly on your own, but CIEE made it so much more acceptable and comfortable for me as we tracked with everyone else on a chaperoned flight. On your study abroad experience you are bound to make multiple friendships along the way which will make your journey so much more fun! I got to see plenty of Italian monuments and places like Venice, and the Duomo in Milan. Additionally, the experience with the host family completes it, families can be so inviting and supportive during your time abroad, I got to experience multiple memorable moments with them. Finally, if you go for language and culture you’ll be sure to learn so much as I did with Italian culture and the language, I was already speaking in three weeks because of CIEEs amazing teachers and engaging classes.

This Honors Spanish Language in Seville program was genuinely the best experience I have ever had in my life and I would recommend to anyone because the friends I met, experiences I had, and new things I learned (culturally and in class).

The program , from application to flight info to class navigation, was super smooth and easy. Clear instruction is always provided. Not only are the other kids friendly, but the teachers and program leaders are amazing.

To me this program can only be described in 3 words. Absolutely life changing. This is actually my second time doing this exact program, I missed it so much the first time that I needed to come back. Now after my second year I feel the same way again. This program is perfect in every single way.

I would likely recommend CIEE Global Navigator High School Summer Abroad to a friend because it is a great opportunity to engage personally with a new culture in any target country of your choosing. The host family experience is unique and helps you immerse with the daily lives of a native resident. You end up building very strong connections with people from not just within your program but also with people in your host family. The activities are overall very good at highlighting various aspects of Japanese culture and felt extremely fruitful.

This program was definitely one of the best summer activities I’ve ever done in my life. It’s fun yet intellectually challenging and allows students to comfortably explore new cultures in a safe environment. Overall this was an amazing way to spend my summer and I will be letting all my friends and language teachers know about it.

CIEE changed the way I think and feel about the world, and for that I could not be more grateful. I think about current events, the environment, wellness, and education from a different perspective now. My development over the past month has made me wonder how different I would be if I had stayed in the same town for my summer. If someone is looking to expand their perspective of the world, have fun, and improve their language skills, I could not recommend CIEE more!

In my experience they really do make sure you experience a great amount of a place's culture. From language, religion, older gen versus new gen perspectives, etc. You really are immersed in the area. I think the roundtable discussion, as well as our talk about Islam was the most memorable because we shared American and Moroccan perspectives on major issues and hot topics, and I think it was eye opening to see what overlapped, where there was a disconnect, and even learning about completely new things

It is a great experience to meet people from all over. It also guides you to a career path giving you clarity on how to transition to an adult life. Truly I have met people I will genuinely miss and hope to continue knowing in life.

The program isn't finished yet, but this program has been so fulfilling! You are surrounded by so many amazing peers, and you learn so much in class. Also, being in a country dedicated to sustainability is so inspiring.

This program fostered the creation of friendships I genuinely believe will last a lifetime. The people I've met here and the experiences I shared with them are some of the best memories I've made in recent years.

I would be likely to recommend CIEE global navigator program, Scotland to a friend because the experience was very eye opening and intellectually enriching for me whilst also maintaining an equal amount of fun.

It had always been a dream of mine to come to Paris, and being able to both visit this city and learn French was an amazing opportunity for me. I have gained language skills and confidence I didn’t know I had before. I also think this opened a lot of doors for me and gave me a lot of valuable experiences regarding independence, interpersonal relationships, awareness, and helped me learn about my self as a whole. I think that any person would have a wonderful experience abroad and also learn so much more than just content from the experience.

Amazing experience being able to visit a country I've never seen before. Here in Barcelona as a part of Spanish Language and Culture, I've significantly improved my skills with espanol and taken in the beauty of this city on the Mediterranean. I've loved the structure of our days here - planned activity or excursion, class time with engaging projects, and free time to enjoy ourselves. One month passed very quickly with CIEE!

I have had such a great experience during my month abroad. I have learned so much more in this short amount of time that I could have even imagined, and yet I still had so much fun on the trip as well. All the activities were so well organized and unique and really fun. Finally, all of the staff that I have interacted with on the program have been so approachable, friendly, knowledgeable, and seem like they genuinely care about the program and the kids on the program.

I've had such a great experience! Studying abroad helped me develop valuable skills, making me more independent and empathetic. I have nothing but good things to say! The VIP visits to government buildings were incredible--having the opportunity to meet with Parliament members, bump into the Prime Minister in the hall, and see all of the sites where change is instituted was unforgettable. The visit to the International Centre for Defence and Security think tank was also very exciting, hearing from experts in an unfiltered way.

I had so much fun on my Summer Abroad trip this year! It was a great opportunity to meet people I would have never met and to do things I couldn’t have done otherwise. I would definitely recommend doing a trip to any of my friends.

This experience was enjoyable to the utmost degree. I learned so much about myself, others, and the problems that the world has regarding public health. I genuinely believe that I will take what I have learned in this program and apply it to my life back home. In addition, this program put me on track to becoming a better person.

This has been an amazing, life-changing experience. I have loved every second of this trip, and hope that many other people get the experience just like I did. I have learned so many new things, and have overcome many different challenges, which I know will help me throughout college and in the future. I have learned many different life skills and believe this program is such an amazing opportunity that everyone should try.

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity that is so specific and unique and opens your eyes to new experiences and what life really can be like. It taught me so many things about the world, about a different place, and about myself. It is something everybody should experience once in their lifetime because it is truly eye opening and wonderful. It’s also a blast and I had a great time.

I have a pretty favorable opinion of CIEE because it's directly connected to my high school and I also know two other people from my school who have gone on CIEE programs. Despite some difficulties with the full application process (visa stuff which was not under the control of CIEE) , everything ended up going well and I was able to do this program which I'm quite thankful for. The staff of CIEE is helpful and easy to reach and never felt overbearing. Overall I just think it was a great experience without many issues and they seem to be a reputable company with many resources considering the number of programs they offer so I think you could be secure in knowing that everything is going to be handled well. I don't really go out of my way to recommend study abroad programs but if anyone asked I would definitely recommend CIEE as an option. I would say my most memorable experience was either spending time with my friends from school at the Féria or going hiking in Playa de Bolonia would be the most memorable experience.

If I knew a friend of mine wanted to study abroad or look into it, I’d definitely recommend CIEE for a few reasons: It’s one of the most affordable study abroad programs They have flexible times abroad (ie: summer program/trimester/year/semester) The staff are very close-knit and communicative Activity availability Honestly I’d also probably be likely to recommend it to a friend for the referral rewards but I don’t think that’s the point here My most memorable experience were stuff that wasn’t hosted by CIEE- definitely the social culture and my friends, i don’t do much cultural stuff with them (i mostly do it independently) but ive made friends here that have significantly improved my self esteem and have me already planning trips to come back CIEE-wise, probably the extremadura trip, super cool places plus im a sucker for cathedrals

It was the best experience of my life and I made life long friends and family that I will never forget. My most memorable experience was probably just my host family and the school I went to because it was where I spent most of my time.

I think this was such an incomparable opportunity and I would wish for many people to experience it. The most memorable experience I had was carnival. I got to become immersed in language and culture as well as hang out with my friends!

CIEE changed my life, it opened up so many new doorways and connections. I've met some of my closest friends on program and had the best time ever. I had a lot of memorable experiences, but I loved going on vacations with my host family and doing activities with my friends and club at school!

I would be likely to recommend CIEE to a friend or peer because I have had an absolutely incredible time on my trip, and CIEE has been helpful at every step of the way. My most memorable experience was playing soccer with my friends from my new school.

CIEE High School Abroad is a great experience to learn about different cultures and languages. Getting to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds that otherwise I wouldn’t know was my most memorable experience.

I loved CIEE! It was a great experience and I feel like I learned a lot about the world and myself. My day trip to London! It was insane to be in one of the biggest cities in the world exploring with one of my best friends (that I didn’t know three months ago).

I like the people in the organization, and Tina was very helpful. On my way home from school, I enjoyed walking through a Schrebergarten. While there is nothing particularly special about it, I found the experience enjoyable.

I would likely recommend it because I had a good time. I believe CIEE made it relatively easy to travel abroad. My favorite aspect was the host family; they were great, and I had fun learning Spanish and immersing myself in their culture.

Because it has been an incredible experience, with both highs and lows, CIEE has provided me with amazing trips and great people. I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out in Sevilla with those I met on the program!

Getting abroad has been a very smooth process, and I love how the in-country support is so helpful. Going out with people in the program allows me to explore alongside other students who share the same passion for learning about new cultures.

I believe the coordinators were very helpful. Although I encountered some trouble with my flight initially, that was the only issue I faced. Overall, I think it's a great exchange company. For me, the experience would be enriched by taking day trips to nearby towns with my host family, such as Seville. This would allow me to learn more Spanish, capture more photos, and create lasting memories.

I really enjoyed the program; they were very helpful with flights and finding me a good host family. My coordinator, Miga, was incredibly kind, friendly, and supportive throughout the process. I also made friends from all over the world!

I had a good experience with CIEE, and I would recommend it to any of my friends interested in studying abroad. One evening, while walking home at dusk, I realized I had to pass through the cemetery if I stayed at school too long, which creeped me out. I started texting my friends about it, but just as I was typing, the church bell rang right next to me, startling me so much that I shrieked and ran out of the cemetery, laughing maniacally at how goofy I must have looked. When I checked my phone, I discovered that I had sent my message in the group chat prematurely, so it just said, 'I just realized when I leave school late I have to,' which made everything even funnier.

I would definitely recommend studying abroad, considering the skills I have acquired as an exchange student and the many experiences I have had the opportunity to be a part of. However, it is a significant commitment and can be quite expensive, making it impossible for many people. Additionally, I have faced numerous hardships that were difficult to navigate, particularly regarding my homestay. Nevertheless, this experience has ultimately made me a better and more resilient person. The most memorable part has been the friendships I have formed, especially with my fellow exchange students, and the weekend trips and excursions we have taken together, which have strengthened our bond. I have also cherished the time spent with my two host sisters, sharing laughter and evenings together; I truly could not have done it without them.

CIEE was highly accommodating and had excellent communication throughout my experience. Everyone I worked with helped me reach my destinations comfortably, contributing to an amazing overall experience. The host family I was placed with was wonderful, and I had the opportunity to go on numerous trips with them, as well as with the local staff in Copenhagen during my four months there.

The program is exceptionally organized and well-structured, with all staff members I interacted with being extremely helpful and supportive. I particularly enjoyed hanging out with my Spanish friends and host sister, participating in the CIEE overnight trip to Granada, and exploring Seville with other CIEE students.

Because I had a very good experience during my trimester abroad, I would be excited to share it with others so they can learn about it too. The trip to Granada was enjoyable, and I cherish the friendships I’ve made at the school.

I would highly recommend this experience as it is something I truly enjoyed and believe would be beneficial for everyone to partake in at least once in their lives. I particularly appreciated the first days of the pre-orientation, which I found to be very enjoyable. Additionally, I cherish the day trips with my family, as well as the time we spent together shopping and enjoying movie nights.

I'd be pretty likely to recommend the summer abroad program because it is a once in a lifetime experience that offers so much room for personal growth. The language programs may not be for everyone, but the opportunity to travel alone and be independent at a young age is so important should you decide to go.

I had a great time here. Not only was it an amazing cultural experience but a life changing personal one as well. There was an infinite number of new things here for me. Things I did, felt, thought, experienced and I think I learned so much about myself from that and grew a lot too. With the independence came maturity. With the homesickness came appreciation. With the free time came time management. With the fear came courage. With the fun came great memories. There were a few things I didn’t love. For me, the class in the morning was the worst part of my day. There wasn’t enough energy from my teacher for the content to be interesting. It was also too easy but I was already in the highest level. The program is expensive so I would recommend applying for scholarships. Overall though, I would recommend CIEE Global Navigator High School Summer Abroad.

This was an amazing experience and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study abroad and have connections around the world. I would most definitely go again if I had the chance. Plus, I would very much like to have the $200 refer-a-friend benefit, in order for me to have a chance to go once more.

I would definitely recommend this program or any CIEE program to someone looking to study abroad! My only slight hesitation is that it was very expensive, and for some people in my school or community it just might not be possible, but if someone I knew was looking for an opportunity regardless of price, I would 1000% reccomend.

It was a really cool experience and I created a ton of new bonds I’ll never forget. Not only did I see amazing sceneries and learned about cultures and ecosystems completely different than those in my native home, I also was given basically a second family in the form of new friends and my host family. It’s a beautiful journey that I no doubt will look into doing again.

I would be likely to recommend the program to a friend or peer because it has broadened my horizons linguistically and culturally. There are great opportunities for scholarships and classes for the right levels. However, I would argue that there should be more variation in levels, such as adding more options for those in between two different levels.

Traveling the world alone with new people was a once in a life time experience, I met very many people along the way and will be leaving seoul with new life long friendships! It also help me improve multiple skills that’ll eventually lead me towards success!

I would recommend it because I think learning a language is extremely important and the best way to do that is to be immersed. Also I think learning about other cultures in incredibly valuable because it opens your mind to other ways of life. I loved going to Valladoild and seeing Chichen Itza y los cenotes!

it was very fun and i really learned a lot during my trip. i know a lot of people that want to leave for programs and i had a great time so i would probably recommend this one. also ciee has a partnership with my school so i would probably recommend it to people at my school since it’s already pretty connected. I loved going to Iguazú Falls.

I loved my experience, I feel like it was something so unique and although there were some complications I still believe that my experience was amazing and I hope everyone has a chance to do something like this at least once in their life. I loved Spending time with my host family especially on the weekends

I would be likely to recommend it because I learned a lot in class. I really enjoyed class everyday with my teacher Chloé, who was able to balance the class between fun things and more serious things. I also think the cultural activities we did were really cool and showed off cool parts of Rennes. My host family is very nice, but I just wished they talked more. My only real problem is I just wish there were more activities and less free time.

I would recommend it because I overall had a really great experience with my friends and host family. Although going to class and some of the activities were a little boring for me, it was an overall great experience and I would love to travel again if given the opportunity. My most memorable experience in the program was hanging out with my friends really. Any activity we would do would just be better when I had my friends there and also the food. I loved the food and anytime I think about having a good experience I think back a lot to the food.

I really enjoyed my time here in Berlin. I was able to meet new people and make new friendships and experience a different culture than mine. I enjoyed all the excursions that were planned out especially the kayaking and I also enjoyed our classes and the labs we did.

It's an amazing experience, and also fun. It lets you interact with the culture of other countries and also meet new people who are very nice and welcoming. I loved building a rocket with my friends that went at least 500 meters and deploying a pretty good parachute.

I really enjoyed the program and the activities. It’s a great place to make friends and explore the city. The writing program is really inspiring and helps you become more creative in the class and learn a lot on the literary side of London. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend the program is how expensive it was. For me it was really hard to afford this trip even with the scholarship.

I think studying abroad is such an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience that I believe that anyone who can should do. I’ve learned so much about culture the environment, and myself on this trip and I think that is valuable to everyone and it’s will stick with me for the rest of my life. The most memorable experience for me was making an amazing friend. Throughout each activity and day, we got closer and closer and I love having someone who I was able to share this experience with. This trip pushed me outside of my comfort zone but allowed me to open up.

I really enjoyed my experience meeting people and making connections. Being able to have free time and explore Germany was very exciting and unique. However in class and during excursions we did not learn much related to the Global Entrepreneurship topic.

I would likely recommend this program to my peers because there were no negative elements in my experience with the program. I think it is well thought out and there isn't a large divide between the students and program leaders. I feel that there is mutual respect and trust.

This experience was not only fun but also extremely eye-opening and informative. I made so many life long connections and learned more about myself and the world. I think everyone deserves the chance to experience something like this. The most memorable experience in this program was our trip to Tibidabo. It was the end of the first week and I had a blast exploring the park with my new friends. The church there was also beautiful.

I think that the program is an incredible accessible way to explore the world, build independence and skills, and learn about yourself. Especially if someone is look to grow their language skills, this is the program to do.

CIEE gives you the experience to go outside of your comfort zone and explore new opportunities. It prepares you for events in the future such as going off to college or finding a job. The most memorable experience on the CIEE Global Navigator High School Summer Abroad Program was meeting so many people and forming new, long-lasting connections. Making new friends on this trip was something that I will never forget.

I would highly reccomend this program because it is an opportunity of a lifetime, especially for teenagers our age who have not yet traveled independently. It has not only developed my independence, but also expanded my comfort zone concerning socializing with locals and asking questions in the local language.

This is a very once in a lifetime experience and if you have the opportunity to get a scholarship and go to a different country for a month or more, you will have such a better prospective on the world and grow in so many ways

It was a good experience! I don’t know if I learned as much about the language as I thought I would, but my Spanish still improved immensely, I learned a lot about a different culture, my perspective on my own culture in relation to others has changed, and I now view living abroad and my kids having an international life as a very viable possibility. I think that has been very valuable.

It is really fun, I met a lot of new people and had a lot of new experiences. I liked the overall structure of the CIEE program; the homestay, the short class in the morning with cultural activities in the afternoon, the scheduled free time, etc. The only thing I would say is that we sometimes got our schedules and things very last minute - I did not know anything about my host family until a week before my flight here. It would have been nicer to know further in advance so I could get to know them better beforehand. We also didn’t find out the details about things such as our excursions until the day before or even day-of, which made things uncertain and a little stressful.

This program provides a new cultural experience as well as introducing or developing peoples understanding about topics. The most memorable experience on the CIEE Global Navigator High School Summer Abroad program was the people I have met and connected with. I believe that I have created new relationships in which I can be myself and feel comfortable. Spending my free time with new friends has been a very memorable experience.

CIEE is a very life changing experience in my opinion. People rarely ever get the opportunity to study abroad as a High School student, so the fact that I got to experience firsthand the Roman lifestyle is something I’d never forget. The HSSA program accommodates basically everything you need, you get to learn about your city’s history. For example, the Rome program taught us about Ancient Rome history, the Empire, Renaissance, Baroque, and Modern Rome, and the visits to the ancient buildings like Vatican City and the Colosseum & Roman Forum where you learn about its history while you’re there, which helps you remember the lessons more in my opinion. Also, the Italian lifestyle is very fun to experience, since we spent three weeks with the Art, History and Culture program in Rome. Although I loved the HSSA program, and I hate to complain, there were some issues with the program which were a little off putting. For example, the planning of meals. You can’t simply book small restaurants with such a big group of kids. I know this is program specific, but we would spend hours in a single restaurant because of how “disorganized” the planning was. Also, the rooming situation in my program at least was extremely challenging, which is why I would give an 8 to recommend the program, but this is a major opportunity and so amazing, so I highly recommend for more teenagers to study abroad to learn and experience the cultures of different countries! I loved this program, and I know everyone’s experience is different, but I genuinely loved being here every day and getting to live like the Romans. Florence was beautiful, the Villa d’Este in Tivoli was beautiful and don’t even get me started on the Vatican. Truly an amazing experience

I would definitely recommend CIEE Global Navigator High School Summer Abroad to a friend or a peer because this program has allowed me to experience a different country's culture and has given me life long memories that I will cherish. The most memorable experience I had on the program was our weekend trip to Marakesh and when we went to the Agafey Desert

I would recommend it to a friend because my stay here was very memorable and I made a lot of really amazing friends and met a lot of good people on this trip. I really enjoyed the activities and walking a lot. I loved meeting new people and leaving with good friends and having the ability to go out with them and the whole experience of being independant has really helped me a lot with personal growth.

It was a very fun program and I got to do things and go places I’ve never been and it was all very exciting, but there’s also a lot of school work that takes away from the overall cultural experience.

I would be likely to recommend CIEE Global Navigator High School Summer Abroad to a friend or peer for a lot of reasons. One reason I would recommend the program is the various opportunities it provides for individuals to explore a foreign world different from their own. Whether it's a Robotics and Engineering program or a Language and Culture session, each program allows individuals to learn or expand on a skill they might want to expand on in the future while exploring the culture and lifestyle behind a place like Japan or Spain. It allows students to become a part of their host country's day to day life and differentiate qualities of the country from their own while expanding on their own knowledge of their desired subjects in new forms. Another reason I'd recommend the Language and Culture programs on the CIEE platform is their ability to help individuals understand the way of life of a culture and become a member of the country as well. Promoting homestays and allowing people to feel as if they're truly living in their host country for a month allows for a greater recognition and attention towards the way of life in a new country and the difference it holds towards their own home country. It allows for such a great expansion and learning opportunity that it grants the "culture" aspect of the program through one's day to day life, providing the "language" experience through the 3 hour class times and community conversations with others.

I would recommend CIEE to my peers and friends because of the amazing friendships life skills and moments I created throughout the trip not only have I grown intellectually but also personally as now I look at things through a wide lens. My most memorable experience was the water park the whole group went to because it was such a bonding moment and it was just nice to be able to talk to everyone and just relax and the rides were amazing

I would absolutely recommend it to a friend. The program itself is fun but very heavy in the walking. Some days we would walk upwards of 11 miles. The experience was amazing though. I’ve tried 4 different food styles and found that I like Indian food. The program was overall great but could use some more organization.

I loved this experience truly so much and I would stay for longer if I could. everything about this was amazing but truly the connections and relationships I made with people made it the most worth it. I loved the weekend trips to Tibidabo and Tarragona.

It was so much fun and I met so many lovely people! Great opportunity to experience different cultures. However, it can get pretty pricey depending on the location, and sometimes the planning/scheduling was poorly executed.

It was a wonderful experience and I fully enjoyed being able to meet new people from my city and also far away with a common interest, and being able to create lasting friendships in a wonderful city abroad.

I think it's a really great program. I never thought I would be able to travel, especially not in high school. This program has opened so many doors for me, not only helping me to travel and learn on this specific program, but showing me that I can travel even though I come from a small area and a family that doesn't travel. Probably the most memorable thing was the free mornings when I got to out and explore things that I really wanted to see with my friends. Also visiting the eiffel tower.

I recommend CIEE Global Navigator High School Summer Abroad to a friend because of the experiences I had during my time in this program. I love the experiences I had with my peers, I made a lot of friends, explored many places I would have never thought of, and became more independent.

This program has provided new perspectives on the world and how people work. I feel as though this has been a great experience that has changed who I am for the better, and that those who are able to do something like this should do it.

I feel that it’s a perfect opportunity to not only travel but to learn important life skills like time management. Also, one can learn responsibility. Personally, as a person who had never traveled before, it really was a good way to start.

This was a beautiful opportunity to explore a country i have never been in and really emerge and indulge in their culture. It was great to see how other countries work especially considering how this one is portrayed. There is much more to South Africa then what they teach. I would like everyone to get to experience this. I really like the human interactions most about this trip and learning the history of why people did what they did. I really like the tour with Tracy where she taught and showed us about her childhood and being the kids of fishermen. I also really liked the cooking classes were we got to interact with people and our peers.

It was an extremely fun program that not only gave me a great experience in the entrepreneurial field but also allowed me to explore the great city of Berlin and act independently to take care of myself

I really really enjoyed my time abroad!! I feel like I grew a lot as a person and made a lot of new friends. Most of the activities were fun and well organized, and I really liked my host family. I also feel like I learned a lot about the language in classes and on the street.

It’s a learning experience everyone needs before entering college. I came here alone not knowing anyone or what Edinburgh had to offer me but I took a flight and 3 weeks went by like 3 days. The schedule is always packed with things to do and see. It was incredible to be able to stand in the room we were learning about and words just flood in. Suddenly I’m filling up 3 pages of writing like it was nothing.

This experience was so much fun and it really did improve my spanish and make me feel a lot more confident when speaking. I loved my host family so much and my experience there was so much fun too. ill never forget this and everyone who can I really do think they should

The immersive cultural and linguistical experience I have had truly improved my Spanish. I made wonderful friends and thoroughly enjoyed learning new skills in the evening activities. It was a good amount of time, and I think that I have a number of friends who would love this experience. I believe the most memorable experience so far for me was making dumplings from scratch with my host mom and my roommate. What a fun night that was!

CIEE is great experience for those who want to travel, discover new culture, and meet new friends. I highly recommend it to those who like daily activities and participate for the learning experience.

I had a great time in the program, and I think lots of students at my school who take Spanish (or another language) would appreciate the opportunity to make all of the language learning worth something. Plus, it's a great opportunity to make friends and prepare for college (both in terms of applications and just being self-sufficient).

I loved everything about the program and we did lots of fun things. However, I didn't learn as much history as I thought I would. I learned a lot of Japanese but only about 40% came from my Japanese class. It was hard because our teacher didn't speak much English so there was a lot of unclear information that I never fully understood. I would recommend the trip if they weren't super serious about becoming fluent or learning history.

I had an amazing time in Italy! My host family was so welcoming and so was my school. I got to visit amazing cities like Milan and Venice and Florence. I met amazing people like my class mates and everyone that I did meet was very enthusiastic to teach me Italian culture and learn about American culture.

I had an amazing time in Italy and the program was so supportive I just wish I had taken more time to enjoy living in another country. My host family was amazing and so was the school. Everyone I met was very accommodating and welcoming I don’t think I could have had a better experience.

Ciee put me in a small town that was next to Billund, where Lego land is, and it was amazing. It was amazing to one go there to see Lego land with it just being a bus away no reason not to go. Besides Lego land there are a lot of places you can go with relative ease so highly recommend going and seeing the world while your there

My study abroad experience genuinely changed my life and taught me so much. I went to Seville, Spain for a semester in high school. I was not fluent in Spanish, although I was able to hold a conversation and seek help if needed. The first few days of being in Seville, I met so many other amazing friends that were my age and also studying abroad in Spain. I also met my two biggest support systems Raquel and Claudia. They were based in Sevilla and worked for CIEE, so if there was ever an emergency or an issue, you could talk to them. Fortunately, I had the BEST host family. They were so welcoming, and truly exposed me to so much of the culture. They introduced me to all of their family members, took me out to different restaurants, and brought me to La Feria and La Granada. I also showed them a bit of my culture, and we even hosted Thanksgiving! I also attended a high school in Sevilla. School was very difficult for me, definitely the hardest part. However, I made so many of my best friends in school and I still talk to them today! I also joined a soccer team in my spare time and hung out with friends. Another fun part of my study abroad was when CIEE would organize field trips. Everyone would meet up and take a day trip to Cordoba or Cadiz. It was such a special time to catch up with everyone. Overall, studying abroad in Spain changed my perspective and was such an important influence on me. I still keep in contact with my host family and I am eager to get back!

This experience was honestly that I will never take for granted. The people I met and the program overall has helped me a new perspective. I learned to be more independent and more of a good person overall. There are so many things that I have learned from this trip and I can't wait to have another experience like this one.

While i was abroad on this program i made some of my best friends and i am so grateful for it. Not only was i able to take in the culture around me but i was also able to improve my social skill when i talked to local students, and other students in the program. Overall i learnt many things while staying in Seoul and I made so many great memories that i’ll keep with me for the rest of my life!

Through this program I got to interact with different local high school students and the friendships continued after the program too. I believe if it wasn’t through this program I wouldn’t be able to meet these cool people.

The High School Summer abroad program for Seoul Korea session 2 was the best way I ouldve celebrated my summer. This program gifted me with a sense of individuality and helped me gain independence while still creations a bond between all of us attending. The bonds I made on this trip I truly believe will last a lifetime . The friend I made while in Korea on the trip with me and who just live there will forever be important to me . This program really opened up my world and broke that shelters view I once had and I believe it really prepared me for college in the sense that I will have to be independent and learn things myself.

I went to Sevilla, Spain for my junior year of high school with CIEE. In this year, I fell in love with the city. Spain has become my second home, and I have studied there 3 times now. I made so many friends and connected so deeply with my host family and teachers. CIEE had different excursions to Morocco, the south and north of Spain, activities in Sevilla, and more. I learned so much Spanish during my time there, and now I am majoring it in college. As a senior in college, I still look back at my time abroad and reminisce in my memories. CIEE was such a support and really encouraged cultural and linguistic immersion.

I participated in the CIEE Korea K-pop summer program and I had a great time! My favorite parts were dorm life— I LOVED my dorm. It felt super clean, had the best desk that I would totally buy for myself at home if I didn't already own one, there was a little self-serve convenience store with the best snacks and extra shampoo, a gym, and laundry facilities inside the dorm, and even better, my roommate and I got along great! The only drawback was that the shower wasn't separated at all from the sink space in the bathroom on the floor, meaning that while there was a standard glass shower door, the water would get all over the bathroom floor. But I'd stay at the Yonsei dorms as a college student, all four years if I could! I also loved the independance— we were given parameters to stay within ("don't leave these three streets, stay in Myeongdong, etc") and given a time frame ("you have until 1:30!") to roam free with our own little groups, completely unassigned! I'll be totally honest, I really just signed up to shop (I'm Korean American and come to Seoul annually, but wanted to get some time on my own to do what I wanted instead of just going to family reunions), and I was not disappointed! I still miss hanging around with my friends in Korea, all on our own. As for classes/culture, our music classes (we started with the history of music in Korea— then incorporated the Korean war, Korean pop culture, Hallyu, etc) were very informative, and our teacher was very enthusiastic. I've really never seen anyone that excited about k-pop, I think. We also had occasional Korean language classes— you might be bored if you even just know the alphabet, but you don't have them all that often. We also had some cultural field trips, all of which were fun— kimchi making in Insadong, fan painting, a night in a historic village, etc. And a tour of SMtown, if that counts. I got to meet so many people on this trip! From the people coming with me from outside Korea to the Korean students we hung out with and who gave us a tour of Gyeongbukgung Palace, you really get to meet a lot of people from a lot of different places. Overall it turned out to be so much better than I expected, and I would totally do it again! (but I'll probably just stick to staying with my relatives next summer, easier on the $$$)
