Life Changing!
It might be cringe but my time in Southern Africa was genuinely life changing. I not only learned so much from the faculty and staff, but I learned from the members of the cohort, Yango drivers, locals, community leaders, and so much more. With the experiential learning aspect, I was able to engage with community members, speak to activists, and analyze the impacts and legacies of imperialism and settler colonialism in real time. The field trips we go on are actually helpful and connect to what we've been learning in the classroom and expands our scope in a way that you can't get from a textbook or a lecture. The excursions we go on are full of awesome adventures, from Table Mountain, Dune 7 (tallest dune in the world), dune buggies, and seeing beach penguins to museum trips, soccer games, and safaris. The staff and faculty are the nicest human beings in the whole entire world and I'm so grateful that I had their support, especially being miles upon miles away from home.
