Conflict, Peace, and Transition in Northern Ireland

What are the root causes of the Northern Ireland conflict, commonly called the Troubles? What progress has been made toward building sustainable peace? In a country where imposing "peace walls" still separate historically divided communities, how have citizens assumed crucial roles in conflict transformation? Students examine these questions and more over the course of the semester in this seminar-style class based at Ulster University in the city of Derry-Londonderry. They complete 16 total Augsburg University credits, plus gain hands-on experience during an internship in the community.
