High School Student Exchange Programs in Florence

The Big Year is a combination of our Fall Semester in Europe PLUS our Spring Semester in Asia. These can be completed in any order, depending on your schedule at your home school. Combined, you will visit up to 12 different countries, covering more than 25 destinations along the way. During the Fall Semester, you have the following course options: AP English Language and Composition, Grade 12 English, Grade 11 English, AP World History, AP European History, Grade 12 World History Since the 15th Century / Modern World History, and Grade 12 Recreation and Healthy Active Living Leadership. In the Spring Semester in Asia, the following courses are available: AP English Literature and Composition, Grade 12 English, Grade 11 English, Grade 12 Studies in Literature, Grade 12 Media Arts, AP Human Geography, and AP World Issues: A Geographical Analysis.

The Italian Language Summer Camp in Florence is designed for students aged 14–17 and runs from one to eight weeks in July and August. In the mornings, participants attend interactive Italian lessons and engage in fun activities during the afternoons, such as city tours, sports, cooking classes, and photography workshops. Weekend trips include visits to the Tuscan coast and medieval cities like Pisa, Lucca, and Siena. Safe, welcoming, and full of culture, Florence is the ideal setting for teenagers to learn Italian, make new friends, and enjoy an unforgettable summer abroad.

Earn college credit and immerse in Italian culture on this summer program abroad. The High School Summer program is open to students from 15-18 years old and currently enrolled in high school or have recently graduated. SAI Programs and Florence University of the Arts are pleased to offer high school students from all academic backgrounds the possibility of earning college credit and living for four weeks in one of the most treasured centers of art, culture and history in the world. Students will experience the Italian culture hands-on while participating in a variety of classes in the arts and humanities in this summer enrichment program. Florence University of the Arts (FUA) is located in the historic center of Florence, just steps away from the splendid Piazza Santa Croce.

AEF’s high school program is ideal for young teenagers who desire to explore the world but need the context and guidance to make it happen.
