If you love kids, you will love this programme. Based on the coast of South Africa, in Port Elizabeth, you will work in the local townships either helping in nurseries or teaching in schools. Volunteers assist South African teachers with their lessons and help to involve the kids in extracurricular activities. Schools try very hard to provide the best possible experience for the children that they look after. But with limited resources and with many of the kids relying solely on the school to get a full meal, this can be difficult. This is why volunteers are so important. The role of a volunteer is to be an energetic, fun-loving role model for the kids. They love to play and get to know you; and although this can be exhausting, it is also thoroughly fulfilling. After spending your day with children, it is always great to have a place to relax in the evenings. Volunteers live in a shared accommodation in a beautiful, leafy area of Port Elizabeth. It has basic gym facilities, a game room, table tennis, table football, and darts – there is even a swimming pool! Only a 10-minute drive to the sea, it is an amazing place to call home.

As a Good Hope volunteer, you may take part in all activities and excursions organised by our language school involving evening activities each week and full-day tours, excursion or overnight safaris etc. on weekends. Activities can include hiking up Table Mountain, visiting the Cape of Good Hope, touring museums full of the country's rich history and culture or simply enjoying the city's world-famous nightlife. You won't just make an impact while volunteering in Cape Town, you will leave renewed yourself!

Surfpop takes you on an unforgettable surf travel experience that includes volunteering your time and skills to coach and mentor children from disadvantaged communities around Cape Town. You will assist Surfpop children in the water through interactive surf sessions as well as help them with their homework, English and Maths. You will design life skills activities and fun games to expand their horizon. If you have unique skills or ideas that you would like to share with Surfpop before, during, or after your stay, please let us know. We are always open to new and cool ideas! A special needs English and Afrikaans school needs volunteers for its community outreach programs in Cape Town, South Africa. Participants will be assigned to classrooms and teachers, gaining fantastic experience in teaching and educational coordination as well as serving as part of the school team. The school was founded in 1974 by the Society for Autistic Children (now Autism Western Cape). A volunteer period with this school will be a highly fulfilling, rewarding, and challenging experience. It will also be a way to equip participants with new skills in a variety of fields, including Counseling, Education, and Youth. Requirements are: - Interest in volunteering in the areas of Education, Special Needs, Psychology, Occupational or Physical Therapy, Music therapy, Water Therapy, or general educare assistance - Good communication skills - Love of children and a passion to make a difference in their lives - Empathy for other individuals
