Volunteer in Slum Teaching in Delhi, India

Help provide education and support to children living in underserved communities. As a volunteer you will assist local teachers or community educators in slum-area schools or outreach learning centres. Your tasks may include helping run lessons, leading reading or writing sessions, teaching English or basic numeracy, organising games and learning activities, supervising homework clubs, and offering mentorship, encouragement and academic support to children who may lack stable educational resources. This placement is ideal for compassionate volunteers who enjoy teaching, working with children, and making a difference in communities facing economic challenges. You do not need prior teaching credentials — just empathy, patience, and a willingness to contribute. Basic English fluency is helpful; some placements may benefit if you have understanding of local languages, but this is not always required. Outside teaching hours you will have time to explore Delhi’s rich history, cultural sites, markets, and diverse neighbourhoods while making a meaningful contribution to children’s education and community development.

Theater Volunteer Work: Acting, Drama and Dance

Do you have a passion for Theatre, travelling and helping young children? With VWI we offer people like you the fantastic opportunity to teach underprivileged young children living in the iconic Pink City of Jaipur. During your time on the programme you will be placed in a local school or orphanage where you’ll have the freedom to create and organise your very own programme. You will be giving training to help children for their local performance such as teaching theater, to improve focus, making the set, design them, music selection, making the masks and organize the program for children. We don’t need an expert actor, director or an artist. We just want our volunteers to offer love to children, to make them good theater actors and to help the ones that are talented but they are shy or just not able to bring it out. Volunteers in the past have put on plays, taught dance routines, made masks/puppets, and facilitated scenes from well-known scripts. You may also consider teaching the children core performance techniques (acting, singing, dancing), scenes from musicals, or how to make their own costumes.

I joined the theater programm at the child care center in jaipur. From the beginning of my volunteer work i felt very well and good supported. My coordinator und driver picked me every day up from the guest house and brought me in the afternoon to the center. In the morning i prepared different activities for the children. My coordinator supported me in all my ideas and translated it in hindu. The work matched perfect between us. We prepared pantomime games, circle games, dance activities and other funny games, where the children could express themselves. The team in the center was so nice and helpful and welcomed me in such a kind and nice way. It was such an amazing, deeply touching experience with the children. I can absolutely recommend this programm for volunteers. " volunteeringwithindia" is the perfect organisation. I really appreciated the work of the team from " volunteeringwithindia". I will never ever forget this beautiful experience. India became my second home. I really loved to experienced this amazing culture.
