The Challenge
Due to a lack of resources, educational standards in rural Ecuador are poor; 1 in 10 are illiterate, and only 24% go beyond middle school. Unsurprisingly, only a few students speak English. As 40% of the population lives in poverty, the possibility of speaking English would open up many opportunities, including the ability to work with tourists. We have received a lot of demand from the weekly English classes we offer in the community where we are based—some walking up to an hour to reach us—but a lasting solution would be more accessible and regular for students.

The Solution
We are looking for interns who are looking to practice their English teaching/TEFL/TESOL skills in one of the 5 surrounding rural communities. You will receive support from our team to travel to the communities, meet the teachers, design a program, and deliver it to local people, mainly children. You will get hands-on teaching experience while making a meaningful difference to disadvantaged groups, helping them create a brighter future.
