Who you will work with:
You will be volunteering with MARWACODI and its leader, Olivia, who will introduce you to the programs, communities, and beneficiaries. You will work in villages and schools. The communities you will serve are mostly rural, living off small-scale agriculture, casual labour, and informal services.

In the Health and Hygiene program, you will primarily work with teenagers and children (ages 5-16). Living in poverty, some of them do not go to school, but are eager to meet visitors and participate in your activities.

About the program:
In the Health and Hygiene Program, you will contribute to two of MarwaCodi’s core activities in villages and schools near Diani Beach.

Health and Personal Growth of Teenagers: You will help conduct workshops and educate teenagers on reproductive health, self-awareness, responsible behaviour, and personal growth. You can mentor teens, conduct health talks, or organize sports and awareness events.
Improving Hygiene: You will help eradicate jigger infestations and improve general hygiene. You can assist in home visits, shoe distributions, and organize community hygiene education workshops and talks.

Teach Health and Hygiene Practices to Children and Teens

In the Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment program, you will primarily work with teenagers who stopped going to school and are now attending tailoring classes in the Marwacodi workshop, and village people (mostly women) that are following Marwacodi’s workshops on braiding, jewellery making, and hairdressing. While they are learning the skills to perform a trade and earn income, they do not have knowledge on how to manage finance or to keep a business.

About the program:
You will contribute to Marwacodi’s activities in teaching business skills and empowering female-led entrepreneurship. We are looking for someone with basic business knowledge.

Economic Empowerment for Teenage Mothers and Girls at Risk of Early Pregnancy: You will help in workshops of tailoring, hairdressing, and crafts. You will help organize fun activities as well as workshops on basic personal finance (e.g., saving, budgeting) and business (e.g., business ideation, personal goals)
Entrepreneurship Promotion: You will hold workshops and trainings for village women and youth related to business management, record keeping, and savings group facilitation.

Promote Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment

You will be volunteering with MARWACODI and its leader, Olivia, who will introduce you to the programs, communities, and beneficiaries. You will work in village primary schools with children aged 6-15. In the Education program, you will support the learning activities and personal development of children and teenagers in rural schools and villages. They are always happy to receive visitors and do something different from their daily school routine.

About the program:
You will support the school curricula by both working alongside teachers and by proposing your own activities during class time. When schools are closed (September to January and for Easter), you will help carry out fun activities and workshops for children and youth in villages.

Class Assistance: As there are many children in each class, you will support the teachers in leading classes and taking care of pupils.
Workshop and Activities Development: You will propose workshops and activities that you would like to do, e.g., sports classes, digital technologies classes, art, games, etc.
School Material Distribution: You will help gather and distribute to pupils school material such as uniforms and stationery.
