Arcadia Abroad - Museum Studies Internship

by: Arcadia Abroad

Add first reviewVerifiedSince 1853

Earn credit and resume-building experience preserving Scotland’s culture. This summer program combines academic study with a practical internship in the heritage sector. Your experience begins with academic courses, including Heritage Management taught by the former Keeper of Archaeology at National Museums of Scotland. These courses, enriched by site visits and excursions, provide context for your internship. You will then be placed with a heritage organization, such as a museum or historical architectural site, that aligns with your academic and professional goals. Past intern projects have included research on stately homes like Hopetoun House, archaeological data analysis, and studies on Scottish architecture. The program culminates with an academic project based on your independent research and internship experience, which you will present and defend in an oral examination.

Program Highlights

Spend your first weeks studying courses complemented with site visits and three day-long excursions.

Put your heritage internship into an academic context through a course from the Scottish Heritage program.
