We are the product of a unique cooperative venture instituted with the support of the governments of the United States and Bulgaria, the Open Society Institute, and the University of Maine.
We are a privately funded, not-for-profit institution, financing educational activities through tuition, private donations, and grants. We opened our doors in September 1991, with a first-year class of 208 students and 16 full-time faculty members.
