Westcoast Connection | Spain

Discover Spain on one of the three amazing programs with Westcoast Connection - a teen Global Adventure, Pre-College Enrichment, or Spanish Language Immersion. In addition to touring the amazing sites of this fiery country, you will take part in numerous activities. Prepare authentic tapas delicacies at the Spanish cooking school, marvel at the beauty of La Sagrada Familia and take in the masterpieces at the Picasso Museum, learn to Flamenco dance, and enjoy Mediterranean beaches. There is, honestly, so much to see and do that you will wonder how time flies when you're having fun. Study abroad for up to four weeks in Barcelona. Take classes such as Business, Psychology, Photography, Online Marketing, Cooking, Barcelona Soccer Academy, and more! Some courses are even available for college credit. Participate in an ultimate Spanish immersion in Madrid, Barcelona, and Marbella. Study and speak Spanish inside and outside the classroom, noticing your vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills improve throughout the summer.

Cadiz, Spain: Spanish Summer Immersion for HS Students

Abbey Road offers a two, three, or four-week Spanish immersion and homestay program in Cadiz, Spain, this July. Cadiz is the ideal summer study program location for high school students looking to gain all the benefits of a Spanish immersion program while enjoying the beauty of the Spanish coast. This unique Spanish homestay program is designed for students seeking intensive Spanish immersion, with the option of participating in a wide range of elective classes, specialty workshops, and weekend excursions. Apart from enrolling in the daily Spanish language course as their program major, students can select optional workshops and seminars which include Introduction to Spanish Film, Spanish Tapas Tasting, Water Sports, Art History and Architecture of Southern Spain, and Introduction to Salsa Dancing. While in Cadiz, students will stay with a local family (Along with two other Abbey Road students), spending four evenings per week at home enjoying dinner and activities. This charming beach community makes it easy for our staff to coordinate activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boats, soccer, hiking, swimming, horseback riding and offer exciting lessons during Spanish class.

Surf-Spanish Experience in Spain

Bilbao and the Basque country are internationally renowned for having the best waves in Europe throughout the year. Experience this (and more!) in a program that boasts a magnificent combination of Spanish learning and surfing. We welcome anyone interested in learning a foreign language in a truly unique city and with an eagerness to surf—both experienced surfers and beginners alike. All surfing lessons include the basics, based on individual levels. These could tackle theories, water safety, techniques, etiquette, wave selection, coastline knowledge, rips, local conditions, weather forecasts, and more. Beginners will learn to handle a board, paddle, catch white waves, pop up on the board, and stand on the foam. Intermediate surfers will improve surfing techniques—such as duck diving, cutbacks, frontside and backside turns, and more—and perfect individual styles. Instructors will take students to the best surf spots, depending on their ability and needs.
