Volunteer on the picturesque, African island of Madagascar! Participants in this program work closely with the country’s most iconic species - the lemur. Lemurs are currently on the list of endangered primates, and many are illegally kept as pets. This sanctuary has rescued many lemurs. Unfortunately, they can’t be returned to the wild due to their captive upbringing. As a volunteer, you will help enhance the lives of lemurs at this sanctuary. This full-day excursion takes travelers from Nosy Be to the famous island of Nosy Iranja, one of the most beautiful destinations in Madagascar. The day usually begins with a hotel pickup in Nosy Be in the morning, followed by a short transfer to the departure point. From there, guests travel by speedboat across the Indian Ocean for approximately 1.5 hours. On the way to Nosy Iranja, we stop at a private island, also known as Lemur Island, where visitors can see friendly lemurs and experience local island life. After this stop, the boat continues toward Nosy Iranja. The island is known for its spectacular white sand beach that connects two islands during low tide, surrounded by clear turquoise water. Visitors can relax on the beach, swim, snorkel, explore the fishing village, and enjoy fresh seafood prepared locally. This excursion offers a unique opportunity to discover several islands around Nosy Be while experiencing the natural beauty and marine life of northwest Madagascar.
