AIFS Abroad in London, England (Shakespeare's Globe): Summer

Spend the summer in the beautiful, thriving city of London with AIFS Abroad on the Shakespeare’s Globe: History and Performance program. You’ll earn three credits through Fairfield University studying on-site at Shakespeare’s Globe. You’ll study intensively the works of Shakespeare and all aspects of theatrical performance with actors, directors, and other theater performers on-site at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. During your time abroad, you will live in London, within easy travel of the AIFS Abroad Global Education Centre and Shakespeare’s Globe, the many museums, galleries, theaters, and green open spaces of central London. Housing will be in shared rooms in a student residence. Self-catering cooking facilities. Internet access is included in all AIFS Abroad housing in London. Cultural and social activities include: • Guided city tours • Theater performances • Guided tour of the Globe Theater • Cricket matches • Day trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, home to the Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare’s houses • Day trip to Oxford An optional, 3-day excursion to Paris, France, is also available.

Stay on Track with Your Major at NYU London

Students at NYU London choose from courses across a wide range of offerings—from business and science to art history and urban design. Pre-health students can take the science courses needed to stay on track with their majors. NYU faculty organize class trips to historic locations around London, incorporating the city's sights and sounds into their courses. NYU London students live and learn near the British Museum in Bloomsbury, a tree-lined central neighborhood with a long literary history. The academic center consists of three beautifully restored 18th-century townhouses on one of the best-preserved Georgian squares in London. Shakespeare Summer School (4 Weeks)

Spend the summer studying Shakespeare and the Jacobean playwrights with this accredited programme. Over the course of 4 weeks, you will rehearse and perform an abridged Shakespeare play. Directed by an expert LAMDA director, you will be challenged to approach classical text with clarity, detail, and precision. The rehearsal process will culminate in an informal sharing of your work. Alongside your rehearsals, you will take part in a range of skills classes, including acting, voice, singing, movement, dance, and combat, designed to help you develop the tools needed to perform classical text. In addition to your regular timetable, students will have the opportunity to go on field trips to Stratford-Upon-Avon and the Globe Theatre in London. You'll also take part in at least one masterclass with a distinguished guest practitioner. British American Drama Academy Programs

BADA enables students from around the world to study classical theater with leading actors and directors on the British stage. The London Theatre Program is a conservatory program for students interested primarily in acting. It takes place in London during the academic year and is fully accredited through Sarah Lawrence College. Financial aid is available and, in most cases, the cost is the same as a term at the student's home college. The Midsummer in Oxford Program, which takes place at Magdalen College, Oxford, for three weeks in the summer, is similar to, but shorter than, the LTP. It is presented in conjunction with the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale. In both programs, actors and directors such as Sir Ben Kingsley, Brian Cox, Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, John Barton, and Sir Derek Jacobi, among others, lead Master Classes on an ongoing and regular basis.
