What a unique, amazing once in a lifetime experience!!
March 17, 2026by: David Opimo-Fisher - United KingdomI had the opportunity to go to a Wildlife Sanctuary in Namibia. I worked with the cheetahs, hyena's, and took baboons for a morning and evening walk. As I am tall they loved to climb up on me and sit on my shoulders - guess it was a good view. I met wonderful people and am proud that I had the opportunity to be part of this amazing project. I wish I could go again and will look to do so in future.

Traveling half way around the world to volunteer effort, time and energy on marine conservation takes trust. GoEco delivered, far exceeding any preconceived expectations and hopes we had before arriving on Naifaru. The entire team provided thorough support, training and guidance so that we could participate, contribute and perform to our utmost potential. We left with a tremendous sense of achievement, accomplishment and countless unforgettable memories.

A valuable and enriching experience.

Hi guys here the feedback I sent to AOA:

Jule and Gércia are doing an outstanding job! The program was very well organized, and all questions were always addressed – whether directly related to the tasks or more general matters. I felt well supported at all times.

I especially want to highlight how valuable it is to have a local Mozambican staff member like Gércia on the team. She not only brings maritime knowledge but also shares important insights about local customs and culture – a huge asset!
When Jule was away for a few days with another group, Gércia took over the leadership of our group, smoothly managed any changes to the plan, and handled everything very professionally. You truly have a fantastic team, and that deserves to be appreciated!

Food & Meals
The food was consistently delicious – thank you, Brodie and the Tilak Lodge team!
However, after two weeks, I noticed that some meals repeated quite often. It would be great if AOA could give Brodie a bit more flexibility and resources to offer more variety in the menu. I'm sure with more freedom, Brodie could surprise us with even more creative and diverse meals!

Scuba Diving
The guides at Tofo Scuba were excellent – professional, experienced, and always supportive. Whether it was the Advanced Open Water course, ocean safaris, or fun dives, I always felt safe and in very good hands. They made every dive a great experience, and I appreciated their clear briefings, calm presence, and strong awareness of safety and the environment.

Suggestions for Improvement – Equipment
There is definitely room for improvement when it comes to technical equipment:
There are clearly not enough GoPros/underwater cameras for the volunteers.
The printer is currently unusable due to empty ink cartridges – and no replacements were available.
Coming from a technical/IT background myself, I was honestly surprised at how outdated and overused some of the devices are. One or two new laptops or computers would make a real difference and improve the workflow on site.

Final Words of Appreciation
I usually don’t give such detailed feedback – but Jule, Gércia, Brodie and the Tilak Lodge team, as well as Ross and the Tofo Scuba crew, all deserve a big compliment. Thank you for this valuable and enriching experience!
GoEco is the BEST!

I was a little uncertain about booking a volunteer trip with an organization I didn't have personal experience with, but wow! I'm thrilled I took a chance on GoEco. Their staff were incredibly communicative, helpful and supportive throughout the process - they patiently answered all my questions, guided me to a location that suited me and made sure I had all information I needed to ensure a wonderful trip. The Giant Tortoise Breeding Center volunteer experience in the Galapagos Islands was more than I could ever have imagined... filled with ideal balance of hard work, interesting learning, plenty of free time for diving/snorkeling/relaxation, connection with the local community and endless opportunities for Spanish practice. I felt supported by both GoEco and the IOI program. I'm already looking forward to my next GoEco travel opportunity.

We are finally back after being bumped off our flight on the way home and having to stay another day in Windhoek. What an amazing trip! This project was phenomenal and everyone in our group got something differently positive about it. The team were super inclusive and accepting of Finn's additional needs and actually celebrated him and what he could do which was really special. We had some very close elephant encounters and although we experienced the death of a calf, this meant that we got to have hand-on experience of working with the vet and facing the reality of the challenges. Namibia felt super safe and very easy to get around although the distances are vast and the terrain often bumpy. We'd definitely recommend this trip to any other family but be prepared not to wash for many days at a time!
An amazing experience

I would rate this 5 out of 5. There were frequent reminders and emails which ensured I was doing everything on time. It was very easy to follow guidance Kate gave me and my trip wouldn’t have been possible without her! Overall it was an amazing experience and a highlight was building the wall for the local village.

Best experience in my life
October 03, 2025by: Karen Kitazawa - JapanI chose IVHQ because of their reputation and I am so glad I did. From the very beginning, everything was handled with professionalism and care. All the information I needed was provided in advance, and whenever I had a question, the team responded quickly and thoroughly. Once in Namibia, the support continued, and I always felt I had someone to rely on. Knowing that IVHQ had such a solid structure gave me peace of mind, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

This project allowed me to discover new things, both about the country’s culture and the animals at the farm and reserve. It also boosted my confidence and introduced me to a new way of traveling while being helpful. The encounters and memories will stay with me forever!
This program meant so much
April 25, 2025by: Ivanka Juricic - FranceProgram: Wildlife Volunteer in Namibia
This project meant a lot to me personally, as it was my first solo and eco-volunteering experience. I learned a lot about myself and gained confidence. It brought me closer to my lifelong passion for animals. Professionally, it confirmed my desire to find a job more aligned with my values. Even though my field isn’t related to wildlife, I plan to do more wildlife eco-volunteering or get involved with animal protection organizations.

April 25, 2025by: Stephane Bendellali - FranceProgram: Wildlife Volunteer in Namibia
This project gave me a new perspective on my daily life, allowing me to see things from a different angle. I had the chance to participate in many varied and enriching tasks, such as exploring the reserve, supporting the local community, helping at the camp, and accompanying the anti-poaching unit. I highly recommend this mission because it’s a unique experience. The people I met there moved me deeply on an emotional level. Freepackers were exceptional in their support from start to finish. Their involvement was total, and I have nothing but praise for their constant support and professionalism.
Grow and learn
April 15, 2025by: Charles Delloye - FranceProgram: Wildlife Volunteer in Namibia
Throughout this project, I got the experience of feeding the animals, maintence of enclosures, and other activities with the animals. I learned so much from this mission. You leave with a changed mind. The way of life is completely different from the one I am used to in Europe. Each person has their own story and lessons to learn from when you listen. I met so many amazing people and learned a lot. I would definitely recommend this project for its beautiful scenery, for the animals, and for meeting wonderful people. Also, I definitely recommend Freepackers as they offer a wide range of options for volunteering in locations, each more majestic than the last.

The most extraordinary mission ever
April 10, 2025by: Lucie Genest - FranceProgram: Wildlife Volunteer in Namibia
Throughout my project, I did various missions such as cleaning the carnivore enclosures, building enrichment elements for the animals, walking in the sanctuary and researching how to spot animal tracks, taking the baboons, and walking with the cheetahs. I also prepared the animals' food and learned anti-poaching methods. This project was amazing and taught me a lot about myself. If you are thinking about traveling alone...DO IT. I am very proud of myself for being able to go alone. It was a challenge at first as it was my first solo trip, but I was able to fulfill one of my dreams with an organization that is extremely dedicated to animal welfare. I grew confident in myself, my English, and my career. I would 100% recommend this program. It was an extraordinary and truly unique experience. Volunteering rather than tourism brings a whole new dimension to this trip. I've never seen a lion or cheetah so close! This mission with the rangers will remain etched in my memory forever. I met wonderful people who are passionate about protecting and defending wildlife. Not only that, but Freepackers was very professional and attentive. They were always available when needed, which was really reassuring, especially for my first volunteer experience alone.

The local connections the volunteer house provides for us is amazing. I can basically go to buy clothes, having surfing class, and getting a massage with discount from those connections. It feels like we’re embraced by the local community, and it feels absolutely wonderful!
