This an increasingly popular way for individuals to make a meaningful impact in communities around the world. With numerous organizations offering volunteer programs, it's essential to review and research these opportunities to ensure a safe and rewarding experience. *Pros:* 1. *Cultural Immersion*: Living and working with local communities provides an immersive cultural experience. 2. *Skill Development*: Volunteers can develop new skills and gain experience in areas such as teaching, conservation, and community development. 3. *Networking Opportunities*: Volunteers can connect with like-minded individuals from around the world. 4. *Personal Growth*: Volunteering abroad can be a transformative experience, fostering personal growth and self-awareness. *Cons:* 1. *Cost*: Many volunteer programs come with a hefty price tag, which can be a barrier for some. 2. *Safety Concerns*: Volunteers may face safety risks, such as health concerns or political instability, depending on the destination. 3. *Cultural Differences*: Adapting to local customs and way of life can be challenging for some volunteers. 4. *Quality of Programs*: Some volunteer programs may lack structure, support, or meaningful work, leading to a disappointing experience. *Recommendations:* 1. *Research Thoroughly*: Investigate the organization, program, and destination to ensure a safe and rewarding experience. 2. *Read Reviews*: Look for reviews from past volunteers to gain insight into the program's quality and challenges. 3. *Choose a Reputable Organization*: Select an organization with a proven track record, transparent policies, and adequate support for volunteers. 4. *Prepare Yourself*: Culturally, emotionally, and physically prepare yourself for the experience to ensure a smooth transition. By being aware of the pros and cons, doing thorough research, and choosing a reputable organization, volunteers can have a safe, rewarding, and life-changing experience abroad.

Do not hesitate! Best experience of my life!
March 16, 2021by: Silvia S. Terratiz - SpainProgram: Volunteer World: Best Volunteer Abroad Programs Worldwide
I probably had one of the best experiences of my life in Natuwa for a month, feeding the many animals that live there, taking care of them, discovering a different way of life than mine, more minimalist and peaceful. Rodolfo is an extremely understanding man who cares about the well-being of his voluntarios. We had the chance to do several extra activities outside the centre, such as snorkeling near to Isla Tortuga, or swimming at night with bioluminescent planktons, which were dazzling. The workteam is really friendly and allows you to feel integrated quickly and easily. However, you have to expect to work hard sometimes, for example planting trees, doing work to maintain the infrastructure, but this is only a part of the day. outside the centre
The most amazing experience
February 07, 2020by: Inara Desiderio - BrazilI was a volunteer at the Lifeline Clinic in Namibia and it was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. I am really grateful for everything I learned and lived there. It was indescribable to be able to get to know incredible and welcoming people who were trying so hard to help the community and to ensure a decent and humane health care. I am also really grateful for everyone from GoodHope volunteers that helped me throughout everything. A special thanks to Vanessa and Bridget from Cape Town who were prepared to handle anything. It was such a great experience that I believe changed me for better! Thank you!

Once in a life time experience
October 14, 2019by: Skip Brinkhorst - NetherlandsTo begin, Naankuse is a unique and incredible place. The people are super passionate and really love every individual animal. The atmosphere is super relaxed and the other volunteers are amazing. The uniqueness of this experience is mostly based on the fact that you are so close to the animals, for example: you walk with baboons, who grasp your hand and allow you to carry them around in your arms. When horse riding you come so close to the giraffe’s that you can almost touch them. The tent, where you sleep in, is quite comfortable and gives enough comfort. Despite all of this, I cannot leave this unsaid: you will not make a significant impact as an individual. There are a lot of volunteers and your group contain can 2-5 volunteers. Some tasks/activities are just for recreation, such as the horse riding. The total group of volunteers can even rise to 50 volunteers, which is too much in my opinion. In conclusion, as an individual you will not make a big impact, but as a collective you definitely do. Keep that in mind if you go there. If you want to learn more about the animals and conservation in general while having a really great time, than you’ve found the right place. But if you want to make a big impact as an individual, than I wouldn’t recommend naankuse.
Best travel ever
October 14, 2019by: Sylvain Guilois - FranceBeing at Na'ankuse working for animals and with great people feels like we have done something in our life and it s so good. The foundation is amazing and when you are there you feel connected to the wild, to the roots, to only important things.

Be actor of your holidays
October 10, 2019by: Claire Guilois - FranceOur first experience as volunteers at Naankuse in Namibia was incredible. The staff, the organisation, the involvement of people were amazing. As volunteer you participate to the longevity of the sanctuary. You have the chance to be so closed to the wildlife you could ever imagine and not as simple tourist but as actor. Everything you do there, is for the well-being of the animals and not just to satisfy your own curiosity. I really encourage people to go there: you will live something unique that you will never forget !

Quite an adventure!
June 24, 2019by: Ileana Sattler - CanadaThis experience was quite unique, as we had to face some challenges that probably no other volunteers will ever have too, but I also had the opportunity to discover a project with an amazing potential. The Na'ankuse Lifeline Clinic is a wonderful clinic, where doctors and volunteers do the best to help the San community. It isn't always easy with the staff or the infrastructures, but I still had a great time helping as I could on the medical and cleaning sides of the clinic. I think the clinic needs some more help from the association in order for the experience to be better and to allow the doctor and the volunteers to do more outreach and be more responsible for the community, as it is to help it that they came. However, I still learned a lot and felt that I helped, on the short time that I was there, and I met wonderful people. I will never forget these two weeks, and the people with whom I faced all these adventures.

My feels

In the wild
May 11, 2019by: Sandra Favre-Perrod - SwitzerlandTo be in the middle of no where make you feel very small and make you realise that we need to do something to help our planet. The farm is a beautiful place where I did feel like home . The coordinator have a lot a knowledge. They were very helpfull and they were doing as much as they could to make us believe in their passion. They were a great team all of them in different ways. I really learned a lot about nature and wildlife. The only thing I didn't really enjoy, too many volunteers, I wasn't expecting that... even if I understand that all the money is coming in help the farm to get on. My time in Namibia will stay in my heart for ever.
Memories for a lifetime!

We had always so much fun, thinking about the next exercise we could give the kids and then watching them managing it...They were so happy to see you each single time, that’s what made it so great!

A wondrous experience
February 25, 2019by: Michael Ojeme - NigeriaProgram: Volunteer World: Best Volunteer Abroad Programs Worldwide
The time I spent in Dubai, Oman and Abdul Dhabi, I have a wonderful and experiential Joy with the people and I was able to showcased my skills and the people explore my knowledge to their satisfaction Little details of my experience Dubai Falcon Ballroom Hotel which was so great. Even more perfect was the fact that they had thought of everything in advance, I didn’t need to remind them I needed a fresh bed shread in the room (which I did have to do twice at the local hotel I stayed in my country, more on this later) as they had already taken care of that prior to our arrival. The bed, oh the bed! It was dreamy in every way, the most comfortable place I’ve ever laid in, and the most restful sleep I had had in years, and sometimes teary nighttime awakenings. some things can’t be helped…oh, the joys of travelling with flight Emirate is spectacular. A night between those bed-sheets really restores and rebalances you. I had excellent views directly facing the Mall of the Emirate and part of the pool below (if you stretched your neck). Everything in the room was spotlessly clean and looked brand new. The desk was comfortable for planning my daily routes on our my map.
Self Challenge in Thailand
January 04, 2019by: zhongxuan yang - ChinaProgram: Volunteer World: Best Volunteer Abroad Programs Worldwide
August 8th, 2018, I went to Thailand for the highest skydiving constitution in Asian. At the time, when I put on heavy equipment, I was super nervous, so I paid hundreds percent concentration on training. All set down, I followed the coach to get on the helicopter and had a big swallow before taking off. On the way to five thousand inches high, my hand still stuck the edge of seat tightly. It's the real time when I hardly moved right to the open door, my foot suspended in the midair and smash wind make me hard to breathe. Without struggle, I was pushed to jump with closing eyes and opening mouth. Actually, I screamed loudly but heard nothing. The parachute opened in seconds successfully and everything went as well as training. When I stood steadily on the cloud, I touched the soft clouds, astonished by the beautiful view of Phuket Island---golden-green fields are surrounded by the sea blue, trail of the train intersect through the landscape, cars running on the roads are as tiny as ants moving foods. Swinging back to the ground, I was so proud of myself and at the same time, I was so excited about the astonishing views in the sky.
