Participants work and live at Magdalen alongside the BADA Faculty, consisting of leading British theatre practitioners and teaching artists from top American graduate programs. We welcome applicants at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as working actors not enrolled in educational programs. Actors aged 18 must have completed one year of college or have graduated from high school a year before the program starts to be eligible to apply for the coming summer. At Learn & Experience (L&E), we offer a unique experience for 8- to 16-year-olds worldwide, packed with a huge and diverse range of activities—adventure, sports, creative, and more! The venue, Twyford School, is a Hogwarts-style independent boarding school that makes our overnight experience very special. Our L&E Plus programme includes L&E English, and our outstanding Young Global Leader course (13-16) as well as STEAM program. We have a whole evening activity program and weekend excursions, including London, Oxford, Winchester, and local theme parks. Our World Camps allow young people to experience and learn life skills under expert and empathetic guidance, all while making friendships that span the globe. With L&E, it is especially relevant that young people develop independence, confidence, and communication skills. This project is based at the Knepp Estate in the Low Weald of Sussex, Britain’s premier and most famous rewilding site. The 3500-acre estate is being returned to a pre-human habitat by almost abandoning human intervention in managing the landscape and allowing fields to revert to natural vegetation. The course aims to give participants experience in field survey techniques that are likely to be encountered when undertaking a field ecology or climate change career. Thus, practicals involve completing pollinator surveys and identifying bee and hoverfly species, mapping areas using UKHab, quantifying the biodiversity score of an area using the DEFRA biodiversity metric, quantifying carbon storage in a range of habitats, and learning how the voluntary carbon market works. In addition, the course includes evening presentations from professional ecologists or climate change specialists who share how they developed their careers. Two courses are available, which you can complete within 5 days or 2 weeks.

This 12-week Gap Year Semester Course is our most expansive and influential program. During the first six weeks, students travel to the UK and France, where they can explore art, architecture, food, culture, and much more. After this, they will travel to Tuscany and stay in Montepulciano, a beautiful hilltop town, for a two-week intensive Italian course. In the second six weeks, they will join other students to study on the Autumn Gap Year Course. They will travel across Italy, visiting Venice, Castelfranco, Bologna, Florence, Siena, and Rome, as well as taking day trips to San Gimignano, Verona, Naples, and Pompei. This program aims to give students the greatest experience of Italy and a better understanding of the "art world." It is an ambitious program that spread from the ancient world in Rome and Naples to the Renaissance in Florence and contemporary art in Venice. Students will learn about the works of Leonardo, appreciate Titian, and understand why Michelangelo is so significant. Students will also be introduced to dozens of other artists, read great poets from ancient and modern times, learn about rhetoric (Cicero), history, and literature, & appreciate architecture.
