Experience applying to EPIK through RVF International
July 08, 2026by: Sarah Wilkins - United StatesProgram: Teach English in South Korea with Housing & Flights
In February of 2026 I decided I wanted to apply to teach English in South Korea for a year, and decided I would specifically apply using RVF International to help me. It was a great decision to use them because my advisor, Harrison Fowler, was very prompt in his responses to my questions, very encouraging about my application progress (as it does take some months before you are fully accepted into the program and there lots of steps in the application process), and always proactive about informing me on my application process and the next steps after passing a phase. He also included very specific, informative documents and examples of the application process phases/steps. I would not have been able to apply as easily or confidently without RVF International.
RVF's Study in Spain Program - Master's in Bilingual Education, Nebrija University
March 21, 2026by: H.T. Hunt - United StatesI’ve found the Master’s in Bilingual Education at Nebrija to be a rigorous and intellectually engaging program. Several professors stand out for their clarity, strong grounding in theory, and practical classroom applicability—particularly in CLIL methodology and active learning approaches. The program requires a high level of autonomy and time management, especially for students who are also working. For those combining teaching responsibilities with full-time study, it is important to be prepared for an intensive schedule. However, the academic depth and exposure to bilingual methodology provide meaningful professional growth. One of the strongest aspects of the program is its emphasis on connecting theory to real classroom contexts. When students actively engage with the material and apply it in their teaching practice, the learning becomes especially valuable. Overall, the program offers solid academic preparation for educators seeking to deepen their understanding of bilingual education within a European framework. RVF also provided excellent support throughout the application process. Thank you.
Living Abroad in Spain
December 11, 2025by: Kaitlyn Mink - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
Moving to Spain right after graduating college in June felt like a huge leap, but it’s easily become one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I knew I wanted a change and a chance to grow, and teaching in Madrid has given me exactly that and so much more. The RVF team made the entire process unbelievably smooth, answering any questions I had, and I had a lot. From visa appointments to housing questions, they were always there to guide me, which took so much stress off my plate. Instead of worrying about every little detail, I was able to actually enjoy the excitement of starting a new chapter in a different country. Living in Madrid has been incredible. I’ve learned so much about Spanish culture, picked up new routines, explored beautiful neighborhoods, and met people who now feel like family. Teaching has been rewarding in ways I didn’t expect, my students make every day meaningful, and being in the classroom has pushed me to grow both professionally and personally. If you’re considering taking the leap, my honest advice is: do it. You truly never know how much a year abroad can change you until you’re living it. This experience has already shaped me in ways I’ll carry with me forever.

Living my best life in Spain!
December 08, 2025by: Dafne Ruiz - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
I have always dreamed about living abroad and thanks to RVF I was able to do just that! Although living abroad seems glamorous, the path to get there is not. There’s so much paperwork and research that goes into moving abroad and the thought of doing it on my own with no knowledge on Spanish laws overwhelmed me. Once I signed up with RVF, the process was so seamless. They streamlined the whole process for me and I definitely wouldn’t have been able to get to Spain without them!!!

The Greatest Decision of My Life
December 03, 2025by: Stevie Sanborn - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
I cannot begin to express the endless gratitude I have for this program. I dreamed of moving to Spain for years and thought I’d have to do it alone — until I found RVF International. They walked us through every step of the visa process, every document, every appointment (and sometimes even made them for us!). When the consulate gave me the wrong visa, I never would have caught it if it weren’t for the diligence of RVF’s amazing team. After arriving, they have continued to provide unwavering support and even enhance the experience with fun competitions and unique opportunities offered just to RVF participants. Not to mention the community they connect you with before you even reach Spain! You’ll be placed in a group chat of 200+ people coming to Spain at the same time as you, so you can find your friends, roommates, coworkers — all before arriving. What I thought would be a lonely move abroad turned out to be one of the most connected, social experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve met the love of my life, two incredible best friends I found through the program, and have had the blessing to travel with those wonderful people to Morocco, Portugal, France, Spanish islands, etc. Thank you, RVF, for being the first step to a lifetime abroad (even if for you, it’s just 8 months and then a special chapter you look back on that changed your life!).

After spending many years in NYC it was finally the time to achieve one of my dreams. Living abroad and working on my Spanish. All though it’s only been 3 months this has been the opportunity of a life time. Thanks to RVF and their extensive assistant during the visa and bureaucratic process the whole experience has been extremely positive for me. Also they booked my TIE appointment which was the biggest help in Madrid. If you are thinking about going abroad.. DO IT! Not later now you won’t regret it and RVF is a good way to get there.

Participating in the RVF International teaching program was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the very beginning, the RVF team was incredibly helpful, organized, and supportive, guiding me through every step of the process. I was placed in beautiful Granada, Spain, and my experience there exceeded all expectations. I not only improved my teaching skills but also immersed myself in Spanish culture, made lifelong friends, and became part of a wonderful community. Living and teaching abroad with RVF truly changed my life, and I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure!

Making My Move Abroad Magical!
November 07, 2025by: NaVonda Marshall - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
RVF International has been amazing every step of the way! From the moment I started the process of moving to Spain, they’ve provided clear, detailed guidance through every stage — from the visa paperwork and document preparation to coordinating with Spain’s Ministry of Education for school placement. What really sets RVF apart is their continued support after you arrive in Spain. They don’t just drop you once you get here — they stay in touch, answer questions quickly, and genuinely care that you’re adjusting well. Whether it’s help with Spanish bureaucracy, housing, or day-to-day life, they’ve been there with prompt, friendly, and reliable help. Their communication is consistent, professional, and personal. You can tell the team truly understands what it’s like to move abroad and wants you to succeed. I’ve felt supported, informed, and confident throughout the entire process. If you’re thinking about teaching or living in Spain, I highly recommend RVF International — they make what could be a stressful process feel smooth, organized, and even exciting!

It has been such a smooth process!
November 07, 2025by: Amanda Carrion Fajardo - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
I have truly enjoyed the process of coming to Spain and RVF has made it even more enjoyable. From VISA support, to spreading knowledge on how the culture is in Spain, to informing us how classroom settings are, I have felt supported. It has been easier than expected to find housing and a place to shop for groceries and such. Of course there has been difficulties, as anyone might encounter when moving to a completely new country, but I have managed to construct a routine and settle myself in my new city.

I Would Reccommend RVF International to a Friend!
November 01, 2025by: Ann Lipsett - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
Since arriving in the southeast of Spain at the end of September, my experience teaching abroad has been nothing short of unforgettable. I came to teach English to students in Spain along with my sister. RVF International, who handled getting us set up in Spain and matching us with a school, made it easy for my sister and I to do everything together. We are both teaching at schools in Bigastro, Spain, even though we live in Torrevieja. The school and teachers have been friendly and patient, even though my Spanish isn't advanced. Plus, through living near the beach in Torrevieja and teaching beneath the mountains of Bigastro, I've been able to experience different scenery within the span of an hour bus ride. It has been a pleasure to absorb the best of Spanish culture, we even went to Madrid and saw genuine Flamenco dancers! My Spanish is improving, as well. I would certainly recommend RVF International to anyone looking for a unique way to make an impact while seeing the world from a different perspective.

Already feels like the best time of my life!
October 30, 2025by: Mia Sadko - CanadaProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
I recently moved from Canada to Spain to teach abroad through RVF International, and all I can say is wow! It’s been just one month, and I’ve already made more memories and friends than I can count. Even before I arrived, the RVF team made the transition so much easier by guiding me through all the administrative details — from visa paperwork to housing tips. When I finally got here, I was placed at a wonderful school with a short, easy commute from my city. On top of that, I’ve found an amazing community of friends who make every day an adventure. My schedule is fantastic, and the work-life balance is exactly what I was hoping for when I decided to move abroad. I feel genuinely happy and fulfilled. In just a few weeks, I’ve already had the chance to travel to Valencia, Bilbao, Madrid, and Alicante, and I’m currently participating in RVF’s video challenge — hoping to win a trip to Morocco! I’m beyond excited for what’s ahead and can’t thank RVF enough for their ongoing support and for making my move abroad so smooth. If you’re thinking about teaching overseas, I highly recommend coming to Spain with RVF International — it’s been the experience of a lifetime! 🇪🇸✨

Using RVF as a resource to get me to Spain to teach english was the best decision Ive made. What is famous for being an overwhelming process, felt like something I could easily handle thanks to the resources and steps provided by RVF. I am now teaching English from the exact city I wanted to be placed in, in the apartment I was able to fond with their guidance. I highly recommend them.

A year creating memories that will last a lifetime.
October 26, 2025by: Katherine Adelman - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
Walking into a new country is nothing short of a daunting task. I went from knowing my hometown like the back of my hand to being thrown into a culture I had only read about before. Despite the unknown, coming to Spain with this program has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It gave me the chance to grow not just as an educator, but as a person too. Every day felt like an opportunity to learn something new. I gained valuable insight in the language, the culture, and even about myself through this program. I’ve met people who have become like family to me, which is so important when my own is an ocean away, shared meals and laughter I’ll never forget, and discovered parts of myself I didn’t know existed. Living abroad isn’t always easy, but it’s so worth it. This experience taught me to slow down, appreciate life’s little moments, and say yes to new adventures. If you’re thinking about joining, do it. You’ll come for the teaching, but you’ll stay for the memories.
You have EVERYTHING to gain!

Less than a year ago, I made the decision to turn my "whys" into "why nots" when it came to pursuing my dreams. I had always dreamed of living abroad and RVF International has provided me with a vehicle to make that dream come true. I don't know that I could have navigated all of the nuances involved in the Visa process without RVF's support. From the webinars with Q&A sessions to the personalized responses to all of my questions, RVF's step-by-step approach turned something that seemed overwhelming to manageable, bite-sized to-do items that, in some cases, were even enjoyable. I've emailed the support inbox so many times and I'm consistently met with responses that provide me with the detail and clarity I need to move forward. The RVF International staff are patient and their support never comes with a tone that might make one feel like their question is silly. I have been in my placement for just three weeks and nothing beats the feeling of hearing the students call your name when they need help. When they see me at the grocery store, I can see the twinkle in their eyes as they greet me and hold brief conversations with me in English. They feel a sense of accomplishment as the faces of their family members light up with pride at what they hear. It's beautiful! Equally as wonderful is realizing that being out of my cultural and linguistic comfort zone has encouraged me to re-engage with the world around me. I've tapped into the simplicity that comes with a life where you hang laundry on a clothesline, make meals from scratch, and get invited to dinner at a neighbor's house, which doesn't begin until 10pm. This program combines the things I'm most passionate about (traveling, teaching, and learning), and it has given me the opportunity to explore Spanish culture in such a unique way. If you are contemplating whether this program makes sense for you, let me reassure you: it does! Go for it! Don't allow your age or how well you do or don't speak Spanish deter you from this life-altering experience. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

The Gift of Discomfort
October 25, 2025by: Jasmine Valdez - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
My journey moving abroad has been transformative in every possible way. I officially moved overseas on September 8th, 2025, but the process began nearly a year earlier, in October 2024, right after quitting my retail manager job. One late night, while having a mental breakdown and feeling completely lost after leaving my job, I stumbled across RVF. I thought I had no direction then, but was guided toward a new beginning. Moving abroad alone comes with a price both literal and emotional. It has been the most significant investment I’ve ever made in myself. Thankfully, the legal process of moving abroad was smooth and straightforward. RVF made everything as simple and stress-free as possible, and staying organized helped ensure the process flowed easily. Still, a wave of emotions, shame, guilt, fear, and sadness arose as I prepared to leave my hometown, family, friends, and the comfort of everything I knew. As my departure date approached, life began to feel heavier. My body knew a massive change was coming. On the day of my flight, everything that could go wrong did: my flight was delayed, my luggage was overweight, I missed my connection, and my new itinerary included three layovers. I passed through four countries in just 24 hours. To top it off, when I finally landed in Spain, all my luggage had been left behind in Germany. I spent two days without any of my belongings. Yet, my spirit remained grounded, strong, and positive through it all. Even people at the airport couldn’t believe how calm and cheerful I stayed despite the chaos. Once I finally settled in and received my luggage, everything started to fall into place. That same week, I got a Spanish phone number, a public transportation card, and opened a bank account. The following week, I found my apartment, explored the city, and even began traveling to other regions of Spain. Everything seemed to align perfectly, but that didn’t mean emotions and old triggers didn’t surface. Spain has been nothing short of loving and amazing to me. I moved into my apartment the day before the first day of school. Fortunately, I found a beautiful apartment just 20 minutes from the school, in a charming town 45 minutes outside Madrid, where I live with my dream roommate. The first day of school was incredible. From the moment I arrived, the staff and teachers welcomed, appreciated, and celebrated me; they were even more excited for me than I was! I love everything about my school, the students, the coordinator, and the staff. My coordinator lives nearby and often gives me rides. She even invited me to events at her church, where I’ve since made wonderful new friends. By my second week, I was already being offered opportunities to tutor students after school, and now I’m booked Monday through Friday, earning extra income doing what I love! I am overwhelmed with gratitude and blessings. I see breathtaking views of mountains, horses, and landscapes daily during my bus rides. Sunrises and sunsets that constantly remind me how far I’ve come. At times, I still feel uncomfortable because everything is new and unfamiliar. Part of me has felt like I’m starting over, or even moving backward, after leaving behind everything I once knew. The thief of comparison crept in, and I realized that my discomfort wasn’t unhappiness but growth. I was finally reaping what I had sown all my life, and my body just wasn’t used to it. That discomfort became a gift, the pillar of my faith, blessings, and growth.

Life Abroad
October 23, 2025by: Sapphire Hall - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
Thus far, my experience has been very positive. My school has been incredibly supportive, and I live in Xàtiva, which I would describe as a small city with a lot to offer. The community is welcoming, with fun local events that make the area feel lively. The train to and from Valencia costs only about $10, which makes exploring easy and affordable. I’ve really enjoyed my time here and am excited to continue my journey in Spain. RVF has also been very helpful, always answering my questions promptly—usually within 24 hours—and providing excellent resources. The group chat community has also been a great way to stay connected and engaged.

Meeting my people!
October 23, 2025by: Melissa Bell - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
My experience in Spain so far has been nothing short of amazing! Although orginially I wanted to live in another town to be closer to the beach, things turned out exactly how they were meant to be because if not I would not have met the amazing friends I have made thus far in the month since I arrived. I originally wanted to live in Alicante to be close to the beach and a bigger city, but it turned out the transport to my school was way to far and just not possible, so my second best option was the town 30 minutes away, Elche. And if it wasn't for RVF I wouldn't have met my amazing roomie, Emily who I got in contact with back in the states before moving to Spain. She was in the same town as my school so we decided to live together and shes been the best for my journey thus far. We made the move from Alicante together to Elche, went to visit the town where our schools were to figure out the commute everyday and have been running buddies after school! When trying to look for apartments our second week in we met two other girls who gave us awesome advice on looking for places and said it was much easier and cheaper to find a four bedroom than a two person, so we met up for coffee, talked about our time in Spain and we just clicked so we decided to apartment hunt for 4! They have been the most wholesome and best people to live with and we live in an amazing apartment right in the city for cheap and if it wasn't for the girls tedious planning we wouldn't have found it. We have settled in finally, gone home shopping together, and explored parts of Spain together. Having people to share how your day was, or just to share your thoughts on life, talk about problems or just to share tapas and a night out is the most special feeling and definitely helped me settle into the Spanish lifestyle. Thanks for RVF for connecting to my roomie Emily and helping me settle in Spain. I couldn't have done it without them! They made the process so much more enjoyable :)

My experience in Spain with the RVF program has been truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed by the community and supported by the program staff. Teaching here has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I’ve gained a deeper understanding of Spanish culture and language. The relaxed pace of life, friendly people, and opportunity to travel around the country have made this experience even more rewarding. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking for adventure, growth, and connection abroad.

Teaching in a Medieval Town
October 22, 2025by: Maegan Collins - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
So far, I have had a pretty positive experience moving abroad to teach English with the stressful parts being as manageable as they can be realistically. I am very happy with my placement, I live in a beautiful town and community with a great teaching schedule! My apartment is walking distance, and perfect for me. I will say though, I did expect rent to be lower considering I live in a small town so that is something to consider. The stipend will not get me farther than rent and a week of groceries. While I did come with a reccomended amount of savings, this is a very expensive process and it has quickly almost disappeared a month in. Travel is not the easiest where I live with the bus schedule but do able. If you are thinking of joining this program, I would strongly consider your personal goals for the year and also what you need to thrive in order to figure out what region might be a good fit. I am a pretty introverted person, and so I dont mind as much not traveling as often as I hoped. Moving from a big city, I wanted a slower pace and so this journey feels right for me and I am grateful to be have been welcomed kindly into my school. My teachers are helpful and I have loved being with the kids, living in a small community I am getting a very rich cultural experience already seeing town festivals and traditions which is special. RVF has been very helpful for the visa process and answering questions I have, it is good to have professional support doing this because the process is extensive and can be confusing

Stepping outside my comfort zone!
October 22, 2025by: Jamison Wheeler - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
Moving to Spain with RVF International was one of the best experiences of my life. Leaving behind everything familiar like my friends, family, and routines was scary, but it pushed me to grow and step out of my comfort zone. Teaching has been one of the most rewarding parts of my experience. I’ve learned so much from my students and coworkers, even across language barriers. Outside of work, I’ve traveled across Spain and beyond, exploring cities like Cinque Terre, Barcelona, and Madrid. Each trip has been wonderful and easy. This journey has taught me that real growth happens when you step outside of your comfort zone. I came to Spain uncertain of what to expect, but I’ve already made unforgettable memories, and grown in so many ways. If you’re considering joining RVF International, take the leap, you won't regret it!

It was only a few years ago when I came across someone’s TikTok of a girl that posted her experience about teaching English abroad in Spain. Something about that video really stuck with me. She had mentioned RVF international in the video as well and I immediately saved it. I wondered, this could be me one day. And it was always in the back of my mind, that I could be living a whole different life if I just went through with it. And that’s when I reached out to RVF. They really helped me with any doubts or concerns I had. They always responded to my emails in the most timely manner and answered any questions I had. I don’t regret applying through them because they made my moving abroad experience less stressful. As for my time abroad, it was indeed the best time of my life. I got the chance to travel and explore the most beautiful and jaw dropping locations. I met other auxes in this journey and we made so many memories together. And of course, I documented every moment from my camera phone to my digital camera. If I had to do it all over again, I would.

Life As A Madrileño
July 11, 2025by: Noah Moradoff - United StatesMy time with RVF International as an English Auxiliary in Spain has been nothing short of fantastic. I am ethnically Spanish, but was adopted as a child, so this allowed me to get in touch with my roots. However, no one could have told me the extent to which I would fall in love with Spain and its people. Whether it’s tapas on the street, local dives, or beach trips to Alicante, everything is a lifetime adventure. There are places online that talk about the school experience in a stressful light. In my experience, it was a great chance to grow alongside the kids. Quickly, we adapted to each other, and I’ll miss all of them as I leave the school in San Lorenzo in the coming weeks. The area around my school is stunning, as the monastery is an authentic Spanish treasure. I am a little sad that you can only be in one school for two years, as I’ve formed strong bonds with the students and faculty during my time here. I came to Spain with a base level of Spanish that can only be achieved from an American High School. Needless to say, I wasn’t the strongest speaker. However, in Madrid, everyone was super nice and easy-going from the moment I stepped off the plane. My local alimentacion is run by a couple that speaks no English, but we crossed that divide and now check in with each other every few days if we don’t go to the store. While the city of Madrid offers the hustle and bustle and nightlife of a major city, it also has a sense of tranquility amongst the crowd. This program is 110% recommended for people of all ages looking to immerse themselves in a new culture.
Amazing experience
June 17, 2025by: Rylee Evert - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
This program made moving abroad so easy, they helped in the visa and school placement process. The school I was in was bilingual so they taught subjects in both Spanish and English so I helped teach biology music and English as a foreign language, which was really cool. I was also in a really good location, not too far from major cities and right on the coast. I would definitely say to save up a lot of money before hand because while you definitely get paid enough for rent and groceries, traveling on weekends and breaks does cost extra.

Amazing Support for First-Time Master’s Program Applicant!!!!
June 10, 2025by: Madeline S - United StatesAs someone who was completely new to the process of applying for a master’s program—especially abroad—I was feeling pretty overwhelmed at first. I had no idea where to start or what steps to take. Then I found RVF!! They made everything so much easier than I expected. From day one, the team walked me through the entire process in a way that was clear and manageable. They explained everything I needed to know, helped me gather the right documents, and stayed in touch regularly to make sure I was on track. What seemed complicated at first quickly became doable thanks to their guidance and support. They answered all my questions, helped me write a strong application, and made sure nothing fell through the cracks. Because of them, I got accepted into a great master’s program and feel confident about this new chapter. If you're new to this process or just need someone to help you navigate it smoothly, I can’t recommend RVF International enough. They really made something that felt intimidating feel super achievable!!
My Year In Andalucia
June 03, 2025by: Kelsey Peavyhouse - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
I joined RVF International in 2023, and was placed in Almeria. Unfortunately, due to a family emergency, I had to postpone my start date to the following year. RVF was very supportive during this time and placed me in Seville, where I have had the greatest experience, and signed on for a second year. Andalucia has a policy of only allowing language assistants to work in the province for one year, so RVF was kind enough to listen to my request and quickly place me as close to Seville as I can be, in Extremadura. I am looking forward to moving there and settling into my second year soon!
The Greatest Decision of My Life
May 27, 2025by: Stevie Sanborn - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF

Life in España

My time as an English Auxiliary in Spain has been nothing short of fantastic. This is your sign to move abroad
May 21, 2025by: Kennedi George - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
Moving to Spain to teach English has been one of the most life-changing things I’ve done—and RVF International made it possible. From the moment I applied, RVF was with me every step of the way. They helped me navigate the application process, walked me through the visa requirements (which can be overwhelming on your own), and always made me feel like I had someone in my corner. No question was too small, and no email went unanswered. I ended up placed in the beautiful region of Andalucía, where I’m teaching kids just 12 hours a week. The work-life balance is unmatched, and I’ve had the freedom to explore Spain, deepen my Spanish skills, and fully immerse myself in the culture. This experience has helped me grow not just as a teacher, but as a person. I’ve learned how to advocate for myself, adapt to new environments, and show up for others in ways I never expected. It’s also given me space to pursue my own goals—like preparing for grad school and working on personal projects. If you’re thinking about teaching abroad and don’t know where to start, I can’t recommend RVF International enough. They helped turn something that felt impossible into a reality—and for that, I’m so grateful.

Working with RVF International has been such a great experience. From the start, the staff has been super friendly, supportive, and easy to talk to. They made the whole process of moving to Spain feel way less overwhelming and were always there to answer my questions, no matter how small. It honestly felt like I was being helped by friends! Living in Spain has been incredible. I’ve had the chance to really immerse myself in the culture, improve my Spanish, and meet so many amazing people along the way. Every day feels like an adventure, whether I’m exploring new cities, enjoying the food, or just enjoying the lifestyle. It's been everything I hoped for and more. I’m so thankful I chose RVF—they made this whole journey possible and enjoyable from day one. If you’re thinking about teaching abroad, I can’t recommend them enough!!!

I have participated in the NALCAP program for two years. In the first year, I did it alone, but in the second year, I had the guidance of RVF. They were incredibly helpful and responsive, making the process much easier from start to finish. The city I was placed in was my top choice- lovely people, food, and nature in Cadiz, Spain. :) The students were respectful, and the staff at my school were supportive. Overall, a 10/10 experience that I highly recommend to anyone interested in teaching and language learning.
RVF International has a new Study Abroad in Spain program, and it's INCREDIBLE!
May 18, 2025by: Trey Hunt - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
For the past year, I have served as a language assistant in Cadiz, Spain. RVF International managed this process, and I could not be happier with their guidance and support. I am renewing my contract to teach in Madrid, Spain. I have been tutoring or teaching English to speakers of other languages since I was certified in 2022. At the same time, I felt that I truly needed to pursue a master's degree to complete my career transition from Corporate America to teaching. Yet again, RVF International has stepped up to the plate. They have begun an incredible new study abroad program, and I am so happy to announce that, with their invaluable assistance, I have been accepted to Nebrija University in Madrid, Spain to pursue a Master's in Bilingual Education in addition to serving as a language assistant at a high school. I could not be more grateful to RVF for their leadership. Thank you, RVF International and congratulations on this exciting new chapter!!!

I absolutely loved this program! It has truly been a life-changing experience. From start to finish, I felt supported, inspired, and empowered every step of the way during my time teaching abroad in Spain. A huge shoutout to Harrison, who has been exceptionally amazing throughout the entire journey. His dedication, encouragement, and consistent support made all the difference. Whether it was answering questions, helping with any problems, or simply being there when I needed guidance, Harrison went above and beyond. This program exceeded all my expectations, and I can't recommend it enough.
An authentic experience that I will NEVER forget!!!
January 08, 2024by: Ashley Riley - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
Like many other auxiliars before me, the year I spent in Spain was truly the best year of my life--and this was largely due to the support provided to me by RVF International. As a prospective aux, I applied to be placed somewhere in Valencian Community, on the eastern coast of Spain. Harrison, Lourdes, Carlos, and my team worked diligently to place me in a community that satisfied my request, and I was placed in a small town just 15 minutes south of Valencia proper (the city). Leading up to my departure, they seamlessly answered all of my questions, preparing me for the first few weeks in my new community. They offered many different workshops leading up to my departure, such as instructions on opening a bank account, how to secure my social insurance number, how to secure necessary documents from city hall, and helping me navigate the Spanish visa process with my consulate in Boston, etc. Additionally, they also put me in touch with one of the English instructors at my school, and this was essential for my ability to settle comfortably into my new town. My teacher was extremely diligent, helping me find an apartment just a few minutes' walk from my school. My flat was gorgeous, very spacious (3 bedroom, two bath), totally affordable (equating to less than half the monthly stipend offered by my school), was completely furnished, included new appliances, and located right next to the bank and grocery store. Conveniently, this apartment was rented to me by one of the parents of my students at my primary school, who invited my boyfriend and I to our first paella in the mountains our first week in the new country. My landlord was also incredibly compassionate and understanding when my first few paychecks were delayed, and he even brought my boyfriend and I to the train station when we departed Valencia in June of 2022. He is one of the many members of my community who has since become close friends and connections for life. I became especially close with the English teachers at my school, who took the upmost care in engaging with and supporting me. Each week, the four of us would grab lunch together, and we even went on trips together! One of them took me on a trip to Alpuente, another planned a trip with me to New York City when she and her husband visited the US. Since moving back to the US, I used all three teachers as resources for letters of recommendation/references in my job search back in the US. My principal was also fantastic, always checking up on me each week. during my time in Spain, my grandmother passed away in the US, and my principal worked with all three of my English teachers to provide me with a week and a half off to return home to be with my family during this difficult time. They also worked together to create videos with my students, sending an outpouring of love my way. On my last day at the school, they got all of the students and teachers together and threw me a giant going-away ceremony, with gifts, performances, and a giant book with notes and drawings from everyone at the school. I never in a million years expected to not only have the privilege of living in a Spanish community like this, but to actually become a part of it, despite not being anywhere close to a master of the language. While I would love to take another year to live in a large city like Madrid or Seville to compare experiences, nothing could ever beat my authentic experience living in my small town of L'Alcudia, VLC. I still speak to the people I've met very often, including my best friend who I met in my town, who happened to be my teller at the bank!! My boyfriend and I are planning to fly back this year for a visit, and this really speaks to how deep our love for Valencia and Valencians continues to be even nearly two years later. Overall, I cannot recommend this experience or RVF enough; to anyone who is willing to take the leap, it is well worth it. There is no doubt that this experience will challenge you and even make you uncomfortable in some ways, but I truly feel like that is the point. Since this year abroad, I am much better at thinking on my feet, I am thoroughly prepared for a variety of situations, and I am no longer paralyzed when it comes to intimidating bureaucratic processes. This job also has helped me in building my career, as I am now employed as an Assistant International Student and Scholar Advisor for the Office of Global Services at a major university in Boston, MA (where over 7!!!! of my coworkers were also auxiliars in Spain!!) To sum this up into one final sentence: if you are considering this program, are able to save yourself a few thousand dollars beforehand to act as a financial cushion, and are open to meeting as many people as possible leading up to and during your arrival, you will not only be survive, but you will thrive and have an experience of a lifetime!

When I first looked into moving abroad, I remember being quite overwhelmed with the process. However, RVF helped me move to Madrid, Spain to teach English! I truly don't think I could have navigated the visa process, etc. without their help. Their response time is usually within the same day and the staff is incredibly helpful and personable. I encourage everyone to try RVF International if you are looking for extra support when it comes to making the huge leap of moving abroad.

RVF International has given me endless opportunities in Europe! I love teaching and traveling. With this program, I am able to do both safely and securely as a young woman in another country. They handle majority of the paperwork for me with detailed instructions, which is a lifesaver. They also provide lots of check ins to make sure you don’t need any extra assistance because they are ALWAYS happy to assist with anything big or small! I have loved speaking with everyone in the department because they are such amazing and genuine people that only want to help you succeed! My school placement is great as well as the teachers and students. They have made my adjustment SO EASY! The pay is typical, but still enough to live on including rent, bills, and groceries! I cannot thank RVF enough for helping me live my dream by traveling the world!! They really did make a big difference in making this process so easy!!
Best Experience of My Life!
December 22, 2023by: Jesse Sullivan - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
I was part of RVF during my first two years of being a language assistant in Spain. I'm now teaching for a 3rd year at the same school I started at when I was with RVF. I lived in Castellon de la Plana for my first year, then Valencia my second year, and then this year, I finally moved to the town my school has been located in. If you had told me when I graduated from college with a degree in music performance as a guitarist that I would end up changing career paths, moving to Spain and teaching English in an elementary school, I would've never believed you. Having RVF's assistance during my first two years in navigating the bureaucracy with visas, resident cards, and the library of paperwork that entails living abroad helped me enjoy my time teaching in Spain and traveling to other EU countries. The Spanish bureaucracy and government offices make DMV offices in the United States look like 5-star hotels, so having RVF assist me in bureaucratic procedures here was very helpful. I spent my first two years commuting from larger cities nearby until deciding to live in the town where my school is. This experience is what you make of it. I came here knowing zero Spanish and I sought out to find flatmates who were either Spanish or from other parts of the world. Fast forward a few years, I speak Spanish at a B1 level. There are other RVF language assistants as well as language assistants from other programs predominantly from the United States and Canada in mid to large size cities who you can connect with. I was lucky to be placed at an amazing school where I've been able to learn from the two english teachers there and gain more experience teaching English. All of the other teachers are very friendly and welcoming. The work schedule is between 12-16 hours a week and you make a full-time salary which gives you time to give private tutoring classes or work at after school English academies. For me, this job is fulfilling knowing that I am making a difference in my students' lives all the way from just improving their overall enthusiasm about English class itself, all the way to one of my students wanting to be an English teacher herself when she grows up. A lot of what I do is help plan activities with the teachers I work with, and teach students in smaller groups where they can practice their speaking skills. It allows me to come up with as well as find creative games and activities that are fun for the students but at the same time will teach them proper grammar. I do recommend coming here with some savings. YMMV. Finding housing was probably the most difficult thing for me here as a male in his 30s. Luckily, I arrived with a good amount in savings so paying first months rent, one or two months of a security deposit, and any possible agency fees wasn't an issue. It's VERY important to come here with an open mind. Like I stated before, I came here not only with an open mind but zero Spanish knowledge. You might not get placed in the middle of downtown Madrid, Sevilla, or Valencia, but lots of language assistants are placed in surrounding cities that are either a bus ride of train ride away. Like I said before, I lived in one mid size city about 30 minutes by bus away during my first year, then in Valencia city which was about an hour train ride to my school before deciding to live in the town where I teach and have a 15 minute walk as my commute. All three commuting situations are different and YMMV. School placement for me played a huge role in my positive experience here. In meeting other language assistants from RVF and from other programs, it seems that the majority of schools with language assistants are happy and excited to have a native English speaker help out not only in their English classes with students but they are also curious to learn about the United States and Canada when it comes to culture.
Waste of money
December 18, 2023by: Sydney V - CanadaProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
Save your money and go through the ministry. They were zero help other than a couple checklists for the visa process and getting to Spain. I thought it would at least guarantee me a good placement and the chance to meet other auxes but I was placed in the middle of nowhere with zero other auxes in a city that despises foreigners. I also wasn’t paid until January and my school was a bad experience too. RVF couldn’t help with anything. What a joke.
Dear Sydney, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We at RVF International are genuinely sorry to hear that your time in Spain has not met your expectations. We understand that transitioning to a new country can be challenging, and we strive to support our participants through this significant life change. We're glad to know that our one-on-one support for the visa process and relocation to Spain was beneficial. Our team takes pride in offering comprehensive assistance in these areas, and we're pleased that we could successfully facilitate your move, as we have done for hundreds other each program year. Regarding your school placement, we want to reiterate that while we endeavor to provide as much support and guidance as possible, some aspects of the program, such as school assignments, are beyond our control. This is something we have and always transparently communicate and can be found all across our website. These placements are determined based on various factors, including the needs of the schools and regions. We understand that being placed in a less populated area can be challenging, especially when expectations are set on being in a more urban setting. With that being said, on your Placement Application Form you stated, “I am seeking a smaller city”. Not only where you placed in the city size you requested, but also in the Spanish region that you selected as your first choice. We regret to hear about the difficulties you faced with your school and the delay in payment. These issues are concerning, and while they are managed directly by the schools and the regional government, we are always here to offer advice and support in communicating and resolving such matters. The payment delay is an unfortunate isolated event at your school that is being worked out by the regional office and was due to the payment software used by the regional government which we have no control over. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we continuously seek to improve our program and the support we offer. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and see how we can assist you in making the most of your remaining time in Spain. Please feel free to reach out to us directly. We are committed to the well-being and satisfaction of our participants and hope we can help turn your experience into a more positive one. Warm regards, Harrison Fowler Managing Director RVF International
Not the best experience
November 03, 2022by: Chloe Lind - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
Personally, I didn't have a good experience with RVF. They try to advertise that they offer unique support to participants, which is just not the case. I was a participant this year that left Spain two weeks into the program. Here's why. One of the biggest concerns for me was my job placement. Before and after I arrived in Spain, I was never able to get into contact with the school they assigned me. I sent seven emails to my school with no reply. RVF could do nothing about it. I didn't even know if my job really existed! Feeling alone and without help, I contacted RVF letting them know I was considering leaving the program. They didn't reply. I ended up leaving 2 weeks into the program, and RVF didn't bother to reach out to me with questions on how they could've improved my experience/helped me stay. While boarding my flight home, they sent me an email asking them to review their company. The kicker? They requested I ONLY leave a 10/10 review on this website. They claimed it would "hurt their rankings" if I rated them any lower. I know now why they have so many fluffy reviews on their website. I responded to that email, and let them know I would go ahead and put the review I thought was fair. This was when RVF started to pay attention to me. Suddenly, RVF was profusely calling and emailing me. While I somewhat appreciated it, I knew it was damage control for their company. The only time RVF made me feel like a priority was when I had something bad to say about their company; potentially affecting their rankings and profit. In addition to my job placement issues, the other "supports" they offered weren't very helpful/unique. There are lots of free resources online that do exactly what they offer. Their "exclusive Facebook page" is identical to hundreds that already exist. Their presentations offer information that can be found from doing research yourself online. The templates they offered were helpful in filling out documents, but that was about it. I knew moving to another country would be scary for me, and I knew I would need support. I thought RVF was the perfect answer to this. I found out the hard way that they really weren't. They're a company, trying to make money. Don't waste yours like I did mine. (I didn't receive any kind of partial refund from them. It seems like the right thing to do when someone leaves your program because of the companies' faults, but I guess that's not what RVF cares about)
Hello Chloe, Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry to hear you were disappointed with some aspects of the program. Please send us an email at [email protected] as we would love to learn more about your specific concerns and what you wish could have been different. Hopefully we can clear up any miscommunications or misunderstandings about the program since joining last year! One of the many things we try to prepare our Program Participants for is the unique and sometimes challenging transition of moving to another country. The first few weeks are undoubtedly a shock and can be difficult at times, which is why we always encourage our Program Participants to be patient and to give it time. The first month is the most challenging but we sincerely believe that after adjusting to the newness of being in a new culture, country, and language, after breaking through this initial at times uncomfortable period, you are able to fully experience and embrace the joy that comes from being immersed in a new way of life. We informed you many times that it is common and perfectly normal in Spain to receive your first response from the school once the school year starts. Unlike in the US where there might always be someone at a school to field emails and phone calls during the summer months, in Spain, no such administrative summer staff exists which is why you did not receive a response – because the school was on summer break. We were very sad to have you leave the program so early after arriving to Spain. Your first day of class was supposed to be October 1st, but you notified us on September 29th that you were leaving Spain and returning home. In your email you said: “After spending some time here in Spain, I’ve realized that this adventure is not a good fit for me and it would be best for me to step away from the program and return to the US. I’m very sorry about this, however, I think it’s truly the best decision for me. I have sent an email letting my school know about this, however I have not been able to get into any kind of contact with them. I have booked a flight that leaves tomorrow morning, but wish you and the rest of the program participants the best of luck. Thank you for this experience!” We assumed you were leaving for personal reasons, which is why we immediately responded the same day with the following: “Thank you so much for your email and for letting us know. We are sad to hear that you are returning to the US and that you have not enjoyed this experience so far. Our goal is for everyone to embrace the country we love and to have an incredible year teaching it's young students. But we completely understand. We will inform the Ministry of Education and the Office of Andalucía of your resignation. We wish you the best of luck in the future and please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions. Have a great rest of your year!” We were sad to have you leave the program and we immediately worked with you to arrange your swift and unexpected departure. However, it was most troubling because you left Spain before the school year even started without ever visiting the school, meeting the teachers and coworkers who were expecting you, or giving your students a chance to meet you. After you notified us on September 29th that you were leaving the program and retuning home, we emailed and tried calling you several times, but you did not call us back. The difference with RVF International is that we are not a job or a recruitment, but rather a teach abroad program offering a cultural exchange experience full of support and community. We are not a job provider. We are very transparent about that and always have been. Someone who is more independent or has been teaching already for years might not need to join a teach abroad program to achieve their ultimate goal of just finding a job in another country, but for many people joining a program like ours that offers support and community is actually the best choice for them. If someone has extensive travel experience, transitioning to life in a new country like Spain might seem like a breeze. But for someone who doesn’t speak Spanish, or has never traveled alone to a foreign country, it can understandably be a very intimidating and scary transition. In our experience, people that join a teach abroad program just want to come to Spain to teach and enjoy their time, and don’t want to deal with the hassles of setting up life in a new country. In many ways, it’s like the difference between fixing your leaky faucet yourself through DIY YouTube videos (searching for a job and moving abroad on your own) or hiring a specialist (teach abroad program) to just take care of it! Both are ok and valid options, and different types of people find value in both avenues. We hope your time since leaving the program has been enjoyable and rewarding. As always, we are available to speak over email or Zoom if you need anything or would like to share more feedback. Thank you! Best regards, RVF International
From unsure to excited!
August 12, 2020by: Jenn Anderson - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
At the beginning of the process of looking into becoming an English teacher in Spain I was nervous, and unsure of the process. I looked into different companies to try and find the best option for me. I was a bit nervous at first to speak with RVF as I hadn't heard of them organically, unlike some of the other larger programs. However, I ended up choosing RVF after a consult call, and I am so glad that I ended up choosing RVF. RVF assists you in all the things that have to do with the Auxiliares program in Spain. They gather all necessary information and submit your application for you, as well as prepare you in depth for every step of your journey. I had looked at the Auxiliares application form online myself, prior to speaking with Harrison (founder of RVF). Most of it is in Spanish and the directions can be confusing and leave you unsure of if you're doing things correctly. Luckily, RVF makes it very easy to do every step correctly. They submit your initial application for you and update you a few months later with your region and school placement, once the Spanish government has decided them. It was very easy to get in the region that I wanted and to pick the type of school and the size of the city that you want to be in. After the application process and after receiving your placement, RVF then assists you in collecting all necessary documents for the VISA process. They walk you through how to fill out the forms and make your Visa appointment for you. They then assist with instructions on housing search, setting up a Spanish bank account, getting a Spanish phone plan, what to pack, and much more. Upon arrival in Spain, RVF assists with scheduling your TIE appointment and knowing what to bring with you. Due to the pandemic I had more worries added on top of the natural ones you face when moving to another country. However, Harrison is very responsive and has always gotten back to me very quickly, despite the timezone difference. RVF has stayed up to date constantly with the Spanish government and their rules regarding Americans and Visa holders that are entering Spain. I am so glad I did not choose to do this process alone, as I would be very in the dark about the legal things regarding the visa, NIE, and TIE. This whole process has been made so easy and much less stressful because of RVF. I am nearly through the Visa process and will arrive in Spain in under a month to begin life as an auxiliary. I am so thankful for RVF assisting me every time I have a question, or am unsure of something. I would 100% recommend using RVF if you plan to do the Auxiliares program in Spain. From what I looked at RVF seems to be the best option in terms of the services you receive and the price. Other companies were more expensive, or about the same, but none offered as in-depth and responsive services.

The ease of coming to live and work in Spain
January 22, 2020by: Kelly Shanahan - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
I had/am having the most amazing experience working with RVF International. From the very first Skype call, I felt like they truly cared about me. I had a couple other Skype interviews with other companies before RVF and those interviews just felt so impersonal. I felt like just another number for those companies. With RVF, they really showed their compassion for my wants, and they understood and helped resolve all of my doubts. There is a lot of paperwork for the teaching position, but RVF gave me a checklist for everything I needed, which really made this difficult process simple and totally doable. Without RVF during this process, I would have been extremely overwhelmed. They provided clear and concise instructions on how to fill everything out, which was EXTREMELY helpful for a lot of the paperwork was in Spanish. If I had a question about any of the paperwork or anything at all, that was resolved by a simple email to RVF and a super quick response. They were always there at a drop of a hat to answer any and all of my questions and to make sure I had everything I needed. The support was felt 100% along this whole journey of getting ready for Spain, coming to Spain, and being in Spain. I am eternally grateful for finding this compassionate company for they not only gave me so much knowledge and insight about life in Spain but they made the whole process of coming here very stress-free. 10/10 recommend for anyone looking to teach English in Spain!!

Teaching in Spain has been life changing
January 19, 2020by: Logan Barnes - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
I'm in my 2nd year here in Spain and I've been able to have great experiences from being in a pueblo my first year to now being in Madrid, I wouldn't trade either experience for anything. Through this program I was able receive all the necessary assistance and much more for my transition and stay here. Harrison is very communicative and thorough when it comes to meeting your needs and making sure you have the best time possible. I would 100% recommend this program for anyone who is interested in teaching in Spain and wants a stress free way of navigating the bureaucratic process of getting and staying here.

Living it up in Spain!
January 17, 2020by: Shaniya Morris - United StatesProgram: Teach English in Spain with RVF
RVF is an amazing company to experience teaching English in Spain. The teaching program is actually with the Spanish government through a program called North American Language Assistants Program. RVF assists you with the overwhelming tasks of the application and visa processes as well as assistance with things such as housing, internet services, and opening a bank account when you arrive. Bureaucracy and paperwork in Spain can be very confusing and tedious, even when you know the language. RVF takes away all of the pressure, headache, and confusion and describes in detail what you need to do each step of the way. There isn't a stone left unturned with them. If you have never lived out of the country before and interested in living in Spain, I highly recommend choosing RVF for your first experience. Harrison and his team are extremely helpful, always accessible and dedicated to the process.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
What inspired me to work for RVF International was the opportunity to help others experience what had such a big impact on my own life. Moving to Spain to teach was one of the most transformative decisions I ever made, it pushed me out of my comfort zone, introduced me to a new culture and way of living, and gave me a sense of independence and growth that I couldn’t have found anywhere else.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
Having participated in the program for 2 years, I was already excited about their vision and mission, and way of doing things. I was (and am!) so happy to be a part of this team. As a participant, I felt very supported during the process of moving to Spain. It was such a good experience for me that I wanted to help share that with others.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
I consider that everyone should move abroad at least once in a lifetime, and of course, moving abroad can be very exciting and enriching, but it can also be very challenging and lonely. So the fact that there is a company to support you every step of the way, from the beginning to the end of your journey, truly inspired me to want to work for them.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
My favorite travel memory is from when I did an exchange year in California. I was only 15 years old and it was the first time I traveled on my own. I lived with a host family and attended high school as a junior.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
My favorite travel memory was during my Erasmus in France trip in 2018. It was the best experience in my life. I went to Rennes, a beautiful city located in the north of France. There, I met many people from different countries. I felt I grew as a person on this trip. I felt more confident and independent.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
I went to La Palma (one of the smaller islands in the Canary Islands) with my husband for a week, and we were blown away. The island easily appeals to any type of traveler. We particularly enjoyed the food, it was sensational. Also, we enjoyed driving to every point of the island looking for adventures.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
A typical day of work for me is answering emails, a lot of emails! I communicate with our program participants, checking up with those already in Spain and those that are just starting the applications process. Then, around mid-afternoon, we will most likely have a team meeting to go through the highs and lows of our program. We are always trying to improve and better what we are offering to our participants. Then it's back to emails and phone calls.

What inspired me most about going to teach abroad was the opportunity to explore. I had nothing tying me back and so I kept telling myself it was now or never. There is so much of Europe that I have wanted to explore that the idea of living in Spain, so close to it all, seemed like a dream come true. I had heard that flights to many of the countries and cities I want to see were inexpensive and that made it all seem so doable. I also really wanted to practice on my Spanish and get a chance to live on my own. I had always lived with a roommate or family, and I thought this would be a great time to live by myself and really get to know more about myself. My oldest sister taught English in South Korea so that really inspired me as well.
