Program Overview

If you love getting your hands dirty and growing food for others, this Urban Farming Internship is just for you!

At this Urban Farming Internship, you'll be part of a grassroots organization that creates and maintains organic food gardens at homes, schools, and communities around Cape Town. As an intern on this program, you'll mostly be assisting with planting, harvesting and maintaining the gardens at schools. Other than overseeing these day-to-day operations, you’ll have the freedom to take initiative and work on other projects that allow you to explore all aspects of urban farming. Moreover, the community gardens you’ll be working at serve a large educational purpose so you’ll be able to assist with hosting workshops to educate people about urban farming and its benefits.

This internship is a great way to learn about - and experiment with - organic farming while spreading its uses to communities that can benefit greatly from them. You’ll not only be helping provide food to communities, but you’ll also have the chance to immerse yourself in South African culture and explore all the wonderful sites the country has to offer.

This internship is perfect for people who are enrolled in a food sustainability programm/education. The intern should be independent and be willing do to a lot of problem solving on their own. I’m
