Community-Based Research Internship in South Africa

Program Overview
Step into the role of a working researcher and contribute to projects tackling some of the most pressing social issues facing communities across South Africa today.
Join a registered South African nonprofit as a research intern and take an active role in evidence-based work spanning gender-based violence prevention, youth empowerment, climate resilience, and access to justice. You will support the full research process, from data gathering and community engagement through to analysis and producing real outputs including policy briefs and case studies, all under the guidance of experienced mentors and technical advisors.
This research internship is available remotely, making it accessible from anywhere in the world, with the option to be based in South Africa for those looking to fully immerse themselves in the work and the country. South Africa is a destination unlike any other, offering dramatic landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, and a rich, layered culture that makes every moment outside of work just as rewarding as the work itself.
