Be a part of a nonprofit organization that concentrates on ensuring access to safe, nutritious, and affordable organic food for South African kids. They primarily work in school gardens growing organic food; by doing this, they are promoting healthy eating, self-sufficiency, and natural food-growing methods to the children and faculty. Therefore, as a Food Security intern you’ll be helping develop ways for the schools to optimize the products they receive from their on-site edible garden.
You’ll take on different roles during this internship such as assisting in growing the food in the gardens, as well as facilitating and developing eco-education workshops, which teach both students and teachers about organic gardening, fresh food, and nutrition. This is a great opportunity to share your love for healthy eating, get your hands dirty, and enhance your CV all in one. To top it all off, you'll be based in Cape Town - a stunning and vibrant city that will offer plenty of exciting things to do during your free time.

This internship is genuinely so much fun. The gardens are amazing, the kids are curious to learn, and I gain more knowledge about produce and organic farming every day. In the heart of Cape Town, you will be volunteering between school gardens and nursery, kitchens, and workshops. Your goal will be to foster the enthusiasm in young learners to learn more about gardening and eating healthy.
For this internship in food security you don’t need to have any prior experience in farming or working in a garden. Having a keen interest to learn and willingness to help is what is most important.
Throughout your internship any tools and supporting materials for managing the land will be provided. You will also be mentored by seasoned experts in farming to guide you through your daily tasks.
