Mongolia has high unemployment rates, which have resulted in higher numbers of abandoned children and people living in poverty-stricken conditions. The Projects Abroad Social Work internship in Mongolia is based in Ulaanbaatar, home to more than a million people, and where help is needed most. Interns will work alongside local staff at care facilities and share their knowledge with their colleagues and the local community.

The interns' daily activities in Mongolia will be supervised by a trained social worker, who will encourage participants to first observe so they can gain a better understanding of what is expected of them. Further into their internship, interns will be given opportunities to gain more practical experience, which is especially useful for students looking to earn university credit.
