About Otra Cosa Network

Otra Cosa Network (OCN) is a UK-registered charity and Peruvian NGO dedicated to improving education and social development in impoverished communities of Northern Peru. We envision equal opportunities for all Peruvians to thrive. Founded in 2005, OCN began as a small volunteer agency supporting local projects. Over time, we've grown to directly address the educational needs of children and vulnerable adults in this challenging environment.

Our work focuses on informal settlements where residents grapple with displacement due to climate change, disasters, and political instability. These communities lack basic amenities like running water, sewage systems, and reliable electricity. Many children are forced to work instead of attending school, and there are limited options for safe learning and skill development.

Wonderful charity with wonderful people

The time I spent working with Otra Cosa Network was an extremely rewarding experience, this is truly a charity that has the best interests of the community at heart. I have learnt valuable skills in teaching and marketing while getting to know the beautiful beach town of Huanchaco. You are both supported by the staff and given huge amounts of creative freedom in your work, if you are looking to volunteer while immersing yourself in Peruvian Culture, this is the charity for you :) Thanks Otra Cosa, I'll be back :)
