Omeida Chinese Academy

Learning Chinese at Omeida will always be an experience to remember. The staff, students and teachers are 100% helpful and very practical in their teaching style. The school not only makes you love Chinese but makes you love China

I stayed at Omeida Chinese Academy for one month volunteering in the marketing department. I had a really great time during my stay and I can only recommend Omeida to anyone interested in going to China! As a volunteer I would work 4 hours in the mornings Monday-Friday, which was perfect as it gave me time to go explore Yangshuo and the beautiful countryside in the afternoons. During my stay my main task was to help prepare Omeida's summer camp program, which included contacting potential schools and designing a pricing flyer. In return for my work, Omeida would provide free accommodation and food (lunch and dinner). The accommodation was very nice and only a 2 min walk from the school. Every week Omeida organizes social and cultural activities for volunteers and students (BBQ, karaoke, hotpot dinner etc.) which I would usually attend. It's a great opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture and get to know the other students studying at Omeida. The environment at Omeida is really nice, very relaxed and everyone is very friendly! Before my arrival Omeida was also really helpful in providing me information about visa and directions to the school etc., making my arrival very smooth and easy. In the weekends I would usually go explore the surrounding countryside. Yangshuo has some of the most amazing scenery ever! There is lots to do and see, whether its exploring some of the hidden caves and waterfalls, going on bike rides in the countryside or hiking up one of the karst mountains to enjoy a breathtaking view of Yangshuo. I had a really great experience and for anyone considering studying/volunteering at Omeida I can only say do it!

Went to study to Omeida for 5 weeks. During summer of 2018 Not only were the teachers and the staff very friendly but also they were extremely helpful to get to know the city, and getting used to the different way of living. Classes were fun, dynamic and most importantly very educative. I could feel how my Mandarin got better and better each day; by the end of the first month I was able to understand the locals and be able to say different things to them. Having the English department so close to us allowed us to befriend the English students allowing us to practice our Mandarin constantly. I also met different students from all around the world while living in Yangshuo. I had an amazing multicultural experience and learned a lot from other countries, eventually we all became very close and I'm proud to be able say that I even consider them to be part of my family. The various activities that you can do in summer in Yangshuo will never allow you to get bored. There is always a new and different activity for everyone there. Lastly, going to China is a magical experience you will get in touch with your emotions and yourself I actually could consider the whole experiece like a spiritual growth retreat. If you are considering to go to Omeida to study you should definitely stop considering it and just go for it. I can assure you that you will not regret it; you will learn a lot of Mandarin as well as a lot of life and yourself.
