Public Health Project in Ghana

by: Our Generation Voluntary Organisation

Add first reviewSince 2004

Specialize in community outreach by participating full-time in a Public Health project in Ghana through OGVO. Whether you are a medical student hoping to acquire practical experience or you already have years of experience, help local children and adults struggling to afford treatment or healthcare services without our outreach programs. The Public Health project placements are based in numerous local communities across Ghana: Kumasi, Onwe, Gomoa Fetteh, and other locations. These take place in nearby villages, in childcare centers, schools, churches, villages, and community centers. A typical workweek is from Monday to Friday, and you generally have the weekends free to explore nearby places of interest. You will live with a local host family who will welcome you into their home and introduce you to Ghanaian culture. As a public health intern, you will take part in community outreach activities every day and work alongside a local healthcare professional. This person will train you wherever possible in various screening and testing procedures, as well as general health checks and other procedures.
