Intern in the fourth largest city in the world that is speeding through economic development and globalization! Shanghai is one of the most influential financial, economic, and international trade cities in the world with 18 million people driving development. This multicultural metropolis is an exciting location to participate in an internship while learning or perfecting your Chinese. You will enroll in a required 1- or 6-credit academic internship seminar with other IES interns that will give context to what you're learning and doing at your internship placement. Internship placements are available in many fields such as international and domestic companies, policy research at Chinese think tanks, public media organizations, and NGOs. Housing is included in the program cost, and ...
Program Highlights
Before you go, we work with you to fine-tune your résumé, perfect your cover letter, and hone your communication and interview skills as we prepare you for working in a new cultural environment.
You are guaranteed a placement at a local business or organization where you will work for at least 28 hours a week.
Strengthen your Chinese language skills at your internship placement and in an optional 3-credit language course.
Choose from housing options in either a homestay with a local Chinese family or international student apartments with other IES interns.
Save time for IES field trips outside the city such as a visit to Tongli, the town often referred to as a "Chinese Venice", or a 10-day post-program trip to Tibet (additional cost).
