CIEE Open Campus Block in Monteverde, Costa Rica

I had the most amazing experience here in Monteverde with CIEE. Though it was definitely more remote (in terms of access to other towns/markets/etc.) than I expected, the wildlife more than made up for it.

I absolutely loved my time at the CIEE Monteverde campus and would recommend it to anyone. The administrators, teachers, and all staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I never once felt unsafe in town. There is almost always an activity going on on campus and I was never bored.

I would be likely to recommend this to a friend because in my life I have experienced nothing else like it and I am all the better for this experience. I would recommend this course to friends who are really interested in learning and being active citizens of their home nation and any other nation they find themselves landing in.

CIEE is the epitome of advocating for intercultural growth through study abroad. I cannot even put into words how transformative this program has been for my mind, heart, and soul. It is absolutely necessary to get such an experience, and the CIEE programs are a perfect platform for those kinds of opportunities.

It is an enriching experience that you cannot typically get inside a classroom setting. Traveling abroad opens up individuals to new cultures and new experience not found anywhere else. Every student should participate in a study abroad program and CIEE does this very well.

This course offers a great experience to work on self-esteem in your Spanish and a great chance to submerge in another culture with the aid of excelente staff who cares about their students safety and needs.

I would extremely likely recommend CIEE to a friend because of the Cultural Immersion. I understand that other study abroad programs have that to offer, but here, students aren't treated like students, rather members of the community. Especially since I am participating in an open campus program, that's already more than what other students do in their programs. For me what sold it was that these classes are real life problems we are facing and we are learning how to put our part into action.

This has been a life-changing experience for me. The students that CIEE seemed to bring to this campus were all very friendly and we were all very passionate about being here. The staff and professors were very interesting and kind, and helped make this experience smooth and easy. It is not easy being away from home at first, and the RA's became close friends in the process of comforting the students.
