A Love Letter to Sydney!
December 19, 2024by: Caroline Hutchinson - United StatesAfter having a semester back at my home university, I have had ample time to reflect on my study abroad experience at the University of Sydney. In all honesty, I loved absolutely everything about my experience and truly have nothing but great words to speak about the university, the city, and the TEAN program I went with. The University of Sydney was a gorgeous campus, I loved each of my courses and professors, and met some local Aussie's which enhanced my experience even more! The city of Sydney always had something fun going on, from Lunar New Year to Vivid Sydney, and I found myself so happy to wander around at any free chance I had! I loved being in the city but also being so close to the beach AND the mountains, it truly was the perfect mix of everything I love. I always felt safe, and loved the ability to hop onto the many forms of public transportation to really make the most out of my Sydney exploration! I also cannot thank TEAN enough for the role they played in my experience. My orientation week in Cairns and visit to the Great Barrier Reef my first week in AUS was truly a once in a lifetime experience and something I will cherish forever. Throughout the semester, TEAN did a phenomenal job at hosting fun events to reconnect all of the students together and provided a lot of support! I would like to give a special thanks to Cate Chase for making my abroad experience with TEAN so great:) Lastly, my semester abroad in Australia allowed me to have the opportunity to travel to other countries closer than they would be in the U.S. I visited Fiji, New Zealand, Bali, Vietnam, and Thailand. I have so much gratitude for these experiences and will remember this semester abroad forever. Thank you TEAN and thank you Sydney, I will be back someday (hopefully very soon!!!).

Awesome semester
December 17, 2024by: Clara Martin - United StatesMy semester abroad was the best semester of college so far! The classes were challenging because the academics in Australia are very different, but the TEAN staff as well as USYD were very helpful in helping me with the learning curve. Sydney was such a fun city to live in and I had the time of my life!!!
Best decision ever!!
September 06, 2024by: Ashley Lopez - United StatesStudying in Sydney at USYD was the best decision I could've made. Australia is one of those regions where you need a good amount of time rather than a 2-week vacation where you can plan a mid-semester break to New Zealand or a weekend trip down in Tasmania. We were placed in a great and safe part of the city which is on the outskirts of the CBD, but also near a shopping centre and 10-minute walk to campus. It is such a vibrant, multicultural, and touristy city that you'll never run out of things to do. While the courses at the insanely beautiful University of Sydney's campus are pretty vigorous, the professors, TAs, and students are kind enough to help and many resources are there to help. There are countless ways to get involved on campus with a diverse array of clubs such as the Chocolate Society, book club, bushwalkers, and societies appropriate for your studies.

6 Weeks in Sydney!!!
August 20, 2024by: Zoie Wicker - United StatesStudying abroad has always been a dream of mine. When I found a program in my dream vacation spot I knew I had to apply. Spending 6 weeks in Sydney was a dream come true and I could not recommend it enough. Meeting new friends, visiting new places, and gaining lifelong experiences is something I will cherish forever. While in Sydney, I visited some amazing places and saw some amazing things. Saying I have witnessed a symphony in the world-famous opera is something I will talk about forever. TEAN made my experience easy and fun. 10/10 Recommend!!
Four Months in Sydney
August 14, 2024by: Jake Reeves - United StatesStudying abroad in Australia was one of the best decisions I've ever made. In the 4 months I spent abroad I met more people than I can count, traveled around Australia and Indonesia and New Zealand, and grew as a person. There are so many unique and cool experiences for people to discover in Australia, including the different animals and unique foods. I really loved seeing koalas, kangaroos, and platypuses in the wild. One of the most important parts of studying abroad is to take advantage of every opportunity you have, and that really helped make my abroad experience something that I'll never forget.
Short time but long story
February 13, 2024by: Ziying Song - United StatesThis program is excellent if you want to travel but are afraid of complete language or cultural differences. Sydney is a massive city with people from all over the world, allowing me to taste all their cultures while taking advantage of the great view of nature. The city is very populated and crowded but relatively safe and clean. There are multiple large shopping centers and restructures everywhere. There is no need to worry about transportation; public transportation is well-structured there, and you can use Google or Apple Maps to see which ride you need to take. The train can take you to farther cities, but you would need a car if you want to go into the mountains or the fields. Cities outside of Sydney are very small-town-like, but public transportation is still there. They give a beautiful coastal view in a quieter setting and local experiences. I also recommend traveling to New Zealand for a week while you are in Sydney. The flight is only about three to four hours. New Zealand's city is less populated, but the lake and green islands outside the city are where the true beauty lies. There is so much I want to share about my six weeks, but none of the words would be as good as experiencing it for yourselves. Australia has both, whether you are a city or a nature person. And if you are not satisfied with it, take advantage of the fact that you have already flown halfway across the globe and travel to neighboring countries. Some advice: Take a good and comfortable pair of shoes because Sydney is a very walkable city to explore. If you want to shop, check out Australia's Tourist Tax Refund policy and see how to use it. Use Google Maps rather than Apple Maps. Apple Maps does not show all the stores, while Google Maps shows it and the comments. There are places with low light pollution, which is excellent for stargazing. Visite Newtown because it is the complete opposite of downtown Sydney while only 20 minutes away (by bus) from downtown Sydney. If you are only going to be there for a month or so, I recommend not wasting any day indoors because you will experience something new every time you step out.

Best 6 months ever
December 21, 2023by: Adam Quinto - United StatesI truly had an incredible time in Australia. The program that I was on was honestly incredible as offered many incredible perks, including the first week in the Great Barrier Reef! The staff that were in charge were absolutely incredible, and it was so accommodating, and really set us up for success while we’re there. They were constantly looking out for us and checking in on us, making sure that we are nursing ourselves on the culture and pushing us to do things we’ve never done before. The first week in the Great Bareier Reef was absolutely incredible, and we were able to get a really great gauge of Australian culture and history. The university of Sydney was an absolutely incredible university, and it was so nice to experience a different culture at school, and a different way of life. Me and all of my classmates absolutely loved Australia. We all came back to America believing that this is one of the best things that just happened to us, and we truly felt like this experience shaped us, and hope this really grow as individuals in the world.

An absolutely incredible experience!
December 13, 2023by: Kate Super - United StatesI had so much fun! It was amazing experiencing life in a different culture and getting to see so many places I never thought I’d get to. USyd has a beautiful campus and the support I received from both the university and TEAN made being so far from home much less daunting. I made so many invaluable memories. I completely recommend going!
Eye opening experience!
December 13, 2023by: Michelle Park - United StatesWith my time studying abroad at the University of Sydney I had an amazing experience of meeting new people from all around the world and realizing that the world is so much bigger than we all think! Having this abroad experience has taught me to learn so much about myself in different aspects that improved myself as person!
Unforgettable Semester in a Land Down Under
December 13, 2023by: Tang Favish - United StatesStudying abroad at the University of Sydney through the TEAN program during the Spring 2023 semester was an unforgettable journey that exceeded all expectations. The academic facilities at the University of Sydney were top-notch, creating a fantastic study and learning environment that complemented the exceptional professors in my computer science program. Beyond academics, the program thoughtfully gave us the opportunity to attend surf lessons at Bondi Beach, offering newcomers like me an exhilarating introduction to the Aussie beach culture. TEAN curated a diverse range of activities, including the Sydney Opera House tour and the day trip to the Blue Mountains, which provided insights into the city's rich history and local natural beauty. Cultural Impact: One of the most remarkable aspects of my time abroad was the profound cultural impact it had on me. The TEAN program kicked off remarkably well by providing us with an incredible multi-day stay in Cairns, complete with a stay at one of the nicest hotels I had ever been to. We met other Americans in the program, learned more about the culture in presentations, and embarked on amazing excursions. This introduction to Australian culture was nothing short of exhilarating. The highlight of our time in Cairns was a fully organized visit to the Great Barrier Reef, an experience that left me in awe of the beauty of our oceans. Snorkeling amidst the vibrant marine life and stunning coral formations was a surreal experience, and for those who could or wanted to, scuba diving was also an option. We also had the chance to connect with the local wildlife by visiting a wildlife park where we encountered kangaroos, cuddled with koalas, and came face to face with crocodiles in another park. These encounters with Australia's unique fauna were amazing. The TEAN orientation in Cairns allowed me to immerse myself in Australian culture, interact with locals, and become better acquainted with my future housemates for Sydney. TEAN Staff and Support: The TEAN staff played an invaluable role in making this experience exceptional. From the moment we arrived in Cairns, they were there to ensure our comfort and ease of transition. Their warm welcome and organization of various events to help us get to know each other made forming connections with fellow students effortless. The support extended beyond the initial orientation and continued throughout the semester, addressing any questions or concerns we had. Housing and Arrival: TEAN took care of our housing arrangements, alleviating any concerns about accommodation. Upon our arrival in Sydney, our liaison was waiting at the airport to pick us up. Our housing was strategically located in the heart of Ultimo, just a short walk away from campus, with easy access to nearby groceries, coffee shops, and other conveniences. This setup further enhanced our overall experience, allowing us to study in a vibrant area and fully immerse ourselves in a walkable environment. I must admit that, at first, I was a bit hesitant and even a bit scared about making friends in a completely new environment. However, those initial worries quickly faded as we all meshed incredibly well. From participating in trivia nights at a nearby venue to celebrating milestones like my 21st birthday together, the camaraderie and warmth that developed within my group of housemates and with local Australians made my experience fulfilling and unforgettable. It's a testament to the power of stepping out of one's comfort zone and embracing the unknown during a semester abroad. University of Sydney: The University of Sydney itself is a remarkable institution. Not only were the professors exceptional, but the overall academic environment was stimulating and enriching. The vibrant campus and the cultural diversity of its student body added to the unique experience of studying in Sydney. In conclusion, my semester abroad at the University of Sydney with the TEAN program was an extraordinary adventure filled with academic growth, cultural enrichment, and lifelong memories. The combination of outstanding academics, incredible cultural experiences, and unwavering support from the TEAN staff made this journey an absolute highlight of my life. I would highly recommend this program to anyone seeking an unforgettable study abroad experience. It's not just a semester; it's a life-enriching adventure in another country, made even better by the experience provided by TEAN. Note: "Down Under" by Men At Work will become your anthem by the end of the term :)

Best Experience Ever!
November 20, 2023by: Sofia Ledferd - United StatesChoosing to study abroad was the best decision I ever made. I truly believe this is something everyone should do! TEAN made this experience unforgettable for me; we traveled to the Great Barrier Reef, explored our host cities and had an incredible team of people supporting us the whole time. If I ever needed help with anything or wanted a recommendation for a great restaurant, my advisor was super nice and always helpful! You won't regret it!

University of Sydney with TEAN!
March 06, 2023by: Homa Askari - United StatesStudying abroad in Australia during university had always been a dream of mine and I am so happy I was able to go with a TEAN/ISA program! This program was extremely helpful and supportive throughout my application process, once I arrived in Sydney, all the way until it was time to head back home to the US. The staff are always available to answer any and all questions applying students may have and provide thorough instructions on how to complete the application process. Once you arrive in Australia, all students attend a 5-day orientation packed with so many fun activities where you get to know your peers and how to best assimilate to the Aussie lifestyle. Throughout the semester, the program hosts multiple different cultural experiences and events. The program provides many resources and point of contacts students can utilize throughout their stay to make their stay as enjoyable as possible. I would highly recommend for everyone to study abroad during their time in university, and if you choose to do so, go with a TEAN/ISA program! You will not regret it, the memories will last a lifetime!

Studying abroad with TEAN was the best decision I ever made!
October 14, 2020by: Kerry Shanahan - United StatesStudying abroad with TEAN was one of the best experiences I have ever had. The orientation went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable in a country halfway across the world, the staff was friendly and very welcoming and the city of Sydney had so many opportunities to take advantage of. While living and studying in a new country I gained a newfound sense of independence and confidence in myself. The friendships I made through TEAN have followed me back to the US and the unique experiences of seeing the Great Barrier Reef, Blue Mountains, and the Great Ocean Road will stay with me forever. I had never left the country before this adventure and because of my experience with TEAN I am excitedly looking forward to my next one!
Australia, my second home
November 11, 2019by: Ashley Goveia - United StatesEvery day I miss Australia and the people I have met there more and more. It is crazy to imagine that just a few months ago I was traveling around the world and making friendships that will last me a lifetime. Within 131 days I learned so much about different cultures, work-life in other countries, and most importantly myself. I cannot thank the TEAN staff enough for making this entire trip possible for me. After multiple calls with staff members talking about the logistics of the program and what was right for me, I ended up making the best decision of my life. That is all thanks to the help of the TEAN staff. I watched myself adapt to my surroundings abroad and ultimately I found the best version of myself while I was there. The education I received at the University of Sydney was challenging but I could not have seen me study anywhere else. I hope sometime in the near future I can come back to Sydney to work, but as of right now I am so grateful I made the decision to study abroad in Australia. For anyone considering to study abroad here, go through the Education Abroad Network TEAN!
Australia, a land of discovery and relaxation
August 30, 2019by: Kavya Kavanakudy - United StatesAfter weeks, maybe even months of looking into different study abroad programs, I finally found the Education Abroad Network (TEAN) and that was when my dream started becoming a reality. Throughout the entire process of filling out papers and getting my classes together, TEAN was very supportive and open to helping me. Even while abroad, the support didn’t stop. The occasional check-ins and activities were great additions to my study abroad experience. Sydney is also a very safe city. The transportation system continued very late into the night. I felt safe walking around Sydney at night, much safer than I ever would at home. With the village housing and living among other internationals and Australians, it was easier to integrate with Sydney culture. The village housing came with a kitchen equipped with a stove and oven. There's a convenience store nearby and the Macquarie shopping center is a 20 min walk with multiple grocery stores. The food on campus is also very good. There's a good diversity of options. The village housing was okay but the community was better. It was a great community for international students and there was always something going on and to do. In regards to Macquarie University, the grading system is definitely harder than at home, but I felt comfortable enough reaching out to my tutors and professors for help when needed. Sydney has a high cost of living but Macquarie Uni is just outside the city so it's a little bit easier but still costly. Also, the food on campus is GREAT Shopping at Aldi was definitely cheaper than any other store. Try to use public transport as much as possible. A good junk of my money went towards Ubers. I learned that I love to travel and I'm not afraid to travel on my own anymore. I hadn't really lived on my own or on a budget before. It was definitely worthwhile I liked the support I had from TEAN before, during and after the program. I also liked the number of opportunities I had to travel and try new things. Sydney is the right city for me and I can't wait to go back.

Experience of a lifetime!
August 30, 2019by: Victoria Guasco - United StatesMy experience with TEAN was amazing and I recommend going abroad with them for many reasons! First, they made the transition in and out of Australia very smooth. Second, they were there if anything went wrong and I could always count on them to help me get adjusted. Third, they held events for TEAN students to get acclimated and make friends. They never left any of us empty handed and they did everything they could to make us feel safe and comfortable. Everything was very organized with the program and if you needed something you could get ahold of them within minutes. My experience with TEAN and studying abroad in general was amazing! Those four and a half months I was there is a time I will never forget and always cherish. Leaving your home and started completely new is very hard, but with TEANs help you will not regret your decision to go. This is an experience I will never get back and its something that I am very proud of. I cherished every second I was there and I did things I don't normally do. This was my time to live and I took advantage of every second I was given.

Best Experience of my Life
January 04, 2019by: Madison Burt - United StatesI had the most amazing time at ICMS. It is a smaller school, however, it is such a great community. Everyone is welcoming and I learned so much about many other cultures all around the world. I made friends that will last me a lifetime here. One will probably be in my wedding. The professors go out of their way to make sure you get the most experience possible. One of my courses we learned a computer system for event management and one we went down to the beach to observe the surfing competition and the aspects of that event. I took Gastronomy and got to go on a Food Safari with my class throughout Sydney. ICMS truly made things so fun with all of their events that constantly allowed you to meet new people. If I could go back I would in a heartbeat.
The land down under full of aquatic beauty and culture!
January 02, 2019by: Ruth Smith - United StatesAustralia was an amazing adventure that I would do all over again in a heartbeat. soon after we first arrived TEAN arranged for a trip into the outback to see Ayers Rock and do some hiking as well as learn about the Aborigines culture. It was definitely a highlight of the trip for me and a humbling experience. While studying at ICMS I took business and event management courses that were requirements for my major at my home University. We only had classes two days a week which left plenty of time for traveling up and down the coast and even to New Zealand. So many great adventures and the landscapes are truly breathtaking. TEAN helped us make plans to travel if we needed it and they also arranged immersion trips within Manly and Sydney such as a tour of the famous Opera House, or surfing lessons on the famous Manly Beach. TEAN did a great job at helping with any questions we may have had.
The best five months of my life!
November 07, 2018by: Rachael Emond - United StatesStudying abroad in Sydney with TEAN was the best decision I ever made. I loved every minute and would do it all over again if I had the chance. TEAN was so helpful throughout the entire experience, and the orientation up in Cairns and all of the events they set up for us throughout the semester made such a difference in my whole experience. Sydney has now become my favorite city and I got to do and see so many things I never thought I would. There are so many unique and amazing opportunities to be had while studying abroad, and I had the absolute best time while I was there. I can't imagine having gone anywhere else or going with any other program.
An AMAZING Australian Adventure
September 28, 2018by: Arial Aarness - United StatesGoing with TEAN to Australia was the best decision I made! They were super helpful getting everything ready and organized before studying abroad. Also, they picked me up from the airport and brought me to campus, planned a trip to the Outback, other activities to do in Manly and Sydney during the semester, and much more! I had a great experience with TEAN and studying at the International College of Management! I felt safe being away from family for that long because I always knew that I could rely on my TEAN team members in Australia. Thank you TEAN for helping me have the best semester abroad! My experience in Australia was amazing. I loved the college, it was located in Manly which is a beach town just a 30 minute ferry ride north of Sydney. I walked to Manly Beach almost daily, which was a highlight of my experience. There was a lot to do within walking distance of the school. I also lived on campus, which means I lived in a castle which was pretty cool! Class is the first two floors of the castle and I lived upstairs, it was great! I was able to travel throughout Australia and experience other parts of the country. The orientation trip to the Outback was very beneficial to meet other students and learn more about the Australian culture. Overall, I loved my time here and would recommend it to anyone thinking about this program!
