First time teaching in India
May 11, 2026by: Teresa Man - CanadaProgram: Street Children Program in India
I’ve taught in Southeast Asia many times in the past, but this was my first experience teaching in India. I was traveling on my own and arrived in Jaipur not knowing quite what to expect, but the entire experience was thoughtfully curated from beginning to end by the volunteer coordinator, Rohit, and the rest of the team. Rohit in particular — along with our driver — was incredibly attentive, kind, and welcoming, and truly made the experience feel one of a kind. The organization itself was also very well run, while still giving me the freedom to bring creativity into the way I taught English and math. The children and classrooms were an absolute joy to teach in — the students were curious, energetic, and full of personality, which made every day genuinely fun and memorable. By the end of the program, it was honestly difficult to leave and say goodbye to them. The homestay was another highlight: it was run by a wonderful mother and daughter-in-law who made me feel completely at home and even helped me with errands around Jaipur. Overall, it was an incredibly meaningful experience, and I would highly recommend it.
A wonderful experience
March 21, 2026by: Catherine Wedding - United KingdomProgram: Street Children Program in India
This was a truly wonderful and meaningful experience. I was fortunate enough to meet some truly inspiring people in India who wanted to make my time there so special. I include all the staff from Volunteer with India who went above and beyond to help me and to introduce me to their culture. I very much look forward to returning.
Unforgetable experience in jaipur
February 08, 2026by: Katrin Teusl - AustriaI joined the theater programm at the child care center in jaipur. From the beginning of my volunteer work i felt very well and good supported. My coordinator und driver picked me every day up from the guest house and brought me in the afternoon to the center. In the morning i prepared different activities for the children. My coordinator supported me in all my ideas and translated it in hindu. The work matched perfect between us. We prepared pantomime games, circle games, dance activities and other funny games, where the children could express themselves. The team in the center was so nice and helpful and welcomed me in such a kind and nice way. It was such an amazing, deeply touching experience with the children. I can absolutely recommend this programm for volunteers. " volunteeringwithindia" is the perfect organisation. I really appreciated the work of the team from " volunteeringwithindia". I will never ever forget this beautiful experience. India became my second home. I really loved to experienced this amazing culture.
Family Volunteering
January 15, 2026by: Usha Rumney - AustraliaProgram: Street Children Program in India
We spent two weeks in December 2025 volunteering with VWI as part of the Family Volunteer Program. It was a life changing experience for my family, which consisted of my husband and I and 3 children aged 7, 9 and 11 years. We were volunteering at a boys shelter and teaching English and Mathematics to children aged 6-17. The program was well organised and we couldn't have survived without Pradeep (Program Director) and Shekar (our driver). Pradeep and Shekar were so accommodating and made us feel so welcome. Over the two weeks we developed beautiful relationships with the boys and felt that we were doing something that made a difference in the world. The purpose of our trip was to provide our children with greater insight into the lives of others and to make a meaningful contribution. It was the most authentic rewarding experience of our lives where we lived in Jaipur for two weeks and we are able to explore the city, while also participating in the volunteer program. I would highly recommend the program to other travellers who are looking for a different experience while travelling.

I spent 3 wonderful weeks with Ramesh and the boys at Bal Basera. The work being done here day to day is life changing for these vulnerable children. I travelled extensively in my free time and embraced the wonderful Indian culture with the host family. My time in India was everything I wanted it to be and more.I will continue to fundraise going forward in order to keep supporting the inspirational work being done at the Bal Basera project.

Wonderful!
October 30, 2025by: Tina Häfele - GermanyProgram: Street Children Program in India
I‘ve been volunteering with children in a boys school in Jaipur for 2 weeks. It was simply a wonderful experience. The boys appreciated the volunteers very much and they were very friendly. I’ve been teaching Math and English. Usually there were kids from age 7 to 17 but the amount changed daily. Lessons start at 9 and finish around 1 p.m. Sometimes two or more volunteers are there at the same time. Its not like I knew school from home. But that’s why you travel and volunteer - to make new experiences and broaden your horizons. Don’t expect every detail to be organised perfectly. But everyone involved in the program is very kind and helpful. I was even invited to their homes and could join family festivities, which was very unique and authentical. I can recommend staying in a homestay while you volunteer. Another possibility to get an insight into authentic Indian lifestyle and culture. The city Jaipur offers a lot to do on the weekends and in your freetime. I loved the program! By volunteering you support that those boys are able to stay there, get food and lessons. And you will get back so much from this place ♥️
Amazing time
September 29, 2025by: Danny Diaz - SpainProgram: Street Children Program in India
I stayed in Jaipur doing the educating children program for three weeks. It was an amazing experience. Well organised. The staff always keept me informed before arrival. While in India, I enjoyed every minute of it. We taught English and Maths to a maximum group of around 48 boys although numbers might vary depending on the days. I enjoyed singing while learning English and exercising while learning Maths. The staff over there are very friendly and always happy to help. Great experience and amazing memories. I will definitely come back.
I had a great time with volunteering
September 28, 2025by: Anna Pivnenko - DenmarkProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
My friend and I were doing the woman empowerment program for ten days and we had a great time staying with Manu and her family. We were taken care of and had a nice place to stay. We were picked up by Sukret who told us a lot about our stay and showed us where we could go in our free time. Our guide Pradeep was so welcoming and funny and he knew a lot about Jaipur and Rajasthan in general. The volunteering was not exactly what we thought it would be, as we found out that they had their own beauty class and we were there as support and motivation, and not as teachers. They taught us more about henna. But overall the experience was amazing. We were welcomed by everyone and felt very safe with everyone. It will be something we never forget.

Life time opportunity
July 19, 2025by: Marine Gohon-Mandin - FranceProgram: Street Children Program in India
Volunteering with this program has been one of the most meaningful and unforgettable experiences of my life. Working with the children was not only heartwarming but also deeply inspiring : their energy, resilience, and joy reminded me of the simple beauty of human connection. The program was well-organized, with an incredible team who truly care about the impact they’re making. From day one, I felt welcomed, supported, and part of something bigger. The activities were both fun and educational, allowing us to contribute in creative ways — whether through games, learning sessions, or just being present with the kids. Each child left a mark on my heart, and I’ve come away with memories that I’ll cherish forever. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to give their time with love and receive so much more in return. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this beautiful journey. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Perfect for any traveler

I had a great experience working with Volunteering with India. The kid’s program was very great! The staff are kind, attentive, generous, and willing to offer you help or answer any questions you may have. This program is great for families and solo travelers who want to give something back to the community who has hosted you. If you want the full experience, then you should be prepared to learn as much as you teach. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a life changing experience in India!

Women's Empowerment in Jaipur
March 02, 2025by: Kelly Taylor - AustraliaProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
I had the most amazing 2 weeks volunteering at a women's centre in Jaipur. Stayed at a guest house close to the city centre. Volunteering was from 12-4pm each day and Rohit the coordinator would come with me each day. I felt incredibly safe and supported. Often after volunteering we would stop for chai or other indian treats on the way back to the guest house. The women at the centre were welcoming and as a volunteer you can incorporate your own skills. I work in a school in Australia so I ran some different art/self identity activities. On arrival to the centre the women would be practicing Mehendi (henna). The guest house rooftop spot was my favourite, Jaipur is a special place. Hope I can return one day soon!
Thank you Kelly for the review.

Everyone was super helpful, the program was so much fun. We went to some amazing places, and interacted with a lot of amazing animals. The elephants were probably the best part, you can pet them and just kinda chill with them, it's a surreal experience. Very much would recommend.

My experience
November 05, 2024by: Emilio Schwab - ArgentinaWe participated in the program for two weeks and the experience was unique and unforgettable. We felt super welcomed and comfortable all the time, both at the workplace and at the guest house where we stayed. We received all the necessary support from the program, both from the people in charge of coordinating and organizing, and from the people who accompanied us during classes, trips and transfers. We felt like family, very cared for and pampered. At the house we ate delicious food every day and we felt very well looked after by the family we shared with. As for the work in the workshop, it was a challenge for us since we had to propose the activities and carry them out with children who do not speak our language, but the result was always super positive. The children were really lovely, super participative and happy. We were never alone, always in the company of staff who helped us with the organization of the group and the translation. Jaipur is an incredible city with a lot to explore and see, full of history, culture, architecture and landscapes that are worth experiencing. I think it's important to clarify that we felt super safe all the time, both on the street and in the work or rest spaces. Visiting India and participating in the volunteer program was something super different and totally new for us, to the point of doubting whether or not we were prepared to do it. But the reality is that everything is set up so that the experience is friendly and we can contribute our grain of sand by helping those who really need it and give a different meaning to our trip. We are super grateful to the entire Volunteering Whit India team.
Thank you Emilio for the review. It was such a nice time with you in the program.
Deep cultural exchange
October 05, 2024by: Anna Bertinelli - ItalyProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
I chose the women's empowerment programme because I wanted to come into contact with Indian girls and women - especially from the slums of Jaipur - and understand more about their world, their lives, their expectations, their difficulties and their dreams. The two weeks I worked in the programme were very enriching for me. The girls who attend the six-month course at the NGO Veeneta Society are trained to become dress makers and/or beauticians. I attended their practical lessons, helping where needed, and I was their teacher in the English lessons. With a great dedication the girls made me the beauty treatments they had learnt in their course. Despite the language barriers between us (there was always a Hindi-English language mediator with me, to help in case of any misunderstanding) we shared bits and pieces of our lives. I also had the honour of handing diplomas to the girls who had completed the six-month course. The festive moments were unforgettable for me, the girls performed traditional Rajasthan dances. All in all, I highly recommend this experience.

Women Empowerment in India: Wonderful and inspiring!!
August 31, 2024by: Annette B. - GermanyProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
Spending each day in the womens programm gave me an amazing opportunity to learn about the indian culture as well as the womens needs and situation. Teaching english and math was so much fun thanks to the womens enthusiasm and strong will to study and move forward. We were also able to put together a First aid Box with them and play the guitar. So great to see how strong and open they are and how important this program it is for them.
Thank you for the review.
Unique experience
August 20, 2024by: Ina Haupt - GermanyProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
My volunteer program lasted 4 weeks in Jaipur, India. I spent 2 weeks in the women's support program and 2 weeks in the hospital. Both were very enriching experiences for me. The girls and women were incredibly open-minded and inquisitive. They were interested in and implemented everything that was offered to them. First and foremost, they want to learn English. Any form of teaching is welcome, whether role-playing, singing and translating English songs or face-to-face at the blackboard. It was a lot of fun to see how quickly they learn. In return, I got traditional make-up, beautiful braided hairstyles or henna tattoos on my hands and feet. It was a very warm and unforgettable time. The work in the hospital was very touching, as people came with problems and pain and needed help. The doctor's idealistic commitment means that even the poor population can receive very good treatment. They couldn't afford a normal hospital. So they only pay a small fee and only those who can afford it pay. The doctor works on a voluntary basis. The treatments mostly consisted of infusions, acupuncture with electrotherapy, cupping treatments, stretching and the administration of medication. The doctor also makes his own Ayurvedic medicine. I was very impressed by his efficiency and was able to learn a lot. As a physiotherapist, I was able to alleviate the pain in some patients. All of this left a lasting, deep impression on me. Perhaps it was a start for me to further projects of this kind. I would like to thank the organization again for making this possible for me. Sukret, my local coordinator, responded immediately when there were questions or problems. They were solved immediately. Shekhar, my driver and "bodyguard", drove me everywhere extremely reliably, picked me up again and showed me a bit of the area. Perhaps it is still possible to get a small handout about the work in the projects beforehand so that you can prepare better. However, I was integrated quickly. My accommodation at Boby Mansion Homestay was a blessing because, as a woman travelling alone, I enjoyed family contact with all the care that comes with it. I felt very safe and secure in a foreign world.
Thank you Ina for the review.

My daughter and I spent 2 weeks in Jaipur volunteering with the Mobile Medical Van. The staff was very friendly and the organization is doing commendable work in providing counseling on various health issues and primary health care to children living in underdeveloped areas . We also got a chance to observe few of the other programs run by VWI , including the Women’s empowerment program and the children’s theatre program, which are also run very well. The host family was friendly and warm and the food was fresh and healthy . Overall a great experience !!

memorable trip in India with VWI
June 24, 2024by: Yingli Yang - United StatesProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
We just had a memorable trip in India with VWI. Sukret is very responsive before and during the trip, which is extremely helpful. We didn't pick the best season to visit India, so it's pretty hot. But we didn't get any time spent in Inda wasted. The guides, drivers and the mahout for our giant girl 'Champa' are all very good. We spent decent time with the elephant and also did some sightseeing. Will make another trip during Nov. to Mar when the weather is better.
Thank you Yingli for the review.
Elephant program in Jaipur
May 29, 2024by: Juliet Awang - United KingdomProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
Working with elephants has always been a dream of mine, something I could never do in the UK. This opportunity has been very special for me. I am a solo female traveler, that means I need to ensure my safety. Sukrets contact with me from the very beginning was really helpful and put my mind at ease. Everyone has been really helpful to me and helped me to have an amazing experience in Jaipur. There is one person who has been absolutely wonderful to me, Pradeep. He has taken me wherever I have asked, he has guided me around many Jaipur attractions and my experience would not have been so special without his support. Thank you so much Pradeep!

Great experience for English teacher, if not, very complicated
May 13, 2024by: Ludivine RENAULT - FranceProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
I had the opportunity to spend 4 weeks with the association, working in two different settings. First, I worked in a school located in a clearly disadvantaged neighborhood, where I provided academic support to teenagers. Then, I joined a beauty school where women were training for careers in esthetics. My biggest surprise was discovering that the community members didn't speak, or spoke very little, English. This posed a challenge to my initial goal of empowering women through English language learning. Unfortunately, I was only able to truly pursue this mission in the last five days, once a translator became available. Personally, this experience was enriching. However, I remain unsure about the actual impact of my involvement. At times, I felt left to my own devices, without a structured program or insight into previous activities. Although I'm not an English teacher but rather a business and marketing trainer, I was still able to share my expertise with some women, though it was less relevant for the teenagers. On the other hand, I want to highlight the quality of the association's hospitality, as well as the weekend excursion offerings and the comfort of the guest house. These aspects undoubtedly contributed to making my stay enjoyable.
Wonderful Experience
March 23, 2024by: Rohit Sharma - IndiaProgram: Street Children Program in India
Street children program in Jaipur was such an amazing experience. I spent 3 weeks at the school with the children. The children were so loving and welcomed. I really liked how all the processes were organized by Volunteering with India from start to end. For example Volunteering work hours, Project pickup and drop-off, weekend tours, 3 times meals. Good staff and very supportive throughout the program. Host family was very friendly & welcoming. I really appreciate the experience and would highly recommend this program to anyone.
Thank you Rohit for the review.
Unforgettable experience
February 02, 2024by: Kamila Kam - PolandProgram: Medical Volunteer Program
I had the best time during this volunteer program, i learnt a lot regarding to medicine and Indian coulture. I had a chance to assist the staff by operating medical devices, measuring blood pressure and make injections. Everybody was very friendly and I felt comfortable working in a small team in the clinic. I would recommend it to anyone interested in working in healthcare and gaining some medical experience. I think 2 weeks is a minimum. The program is mainly observational, and without knowing Hindi I missed a lot on what the patients and doctor said, so make sure you learn some basics beforehand, to not feel left out. Not everything was included(tickets for sightseeing, transport for the evening shift).
Thank you Kamila for the review.
Authentic Indian Experience
November 26, 2023by: Danae GiardinaProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
During August I volunteered for three weeks with the Women’s Empowerment Program and the School Program. Volunteering for an extended period of time meant I was able to build strong relationships with the women and children. Most of the time was spent teaching English, however, the programs are flexible which means you can contribute knowledge and skills based upon your own background and strengths. I was able to draw upon my own resources (nutrition, yoga) and I would encourage this for future volunteers - if you have teaching resources/activities/games from your home country, bring them with you! The home stay accomodation was AMAZING. The family treated me as one of their own, sharing safe, local advice and including me in activities such as visiting the temple, the cinema and a theme park! My favourite part of the stay was playing with the children and helping cook meals. I recommend Volunteering with India for those who want to experience an authentic Indian lifestyle. True local experience
October 29, 2023by: Alex Kung - AustraliaProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
My wife and I volunteered for 1 week for the women empowerment program. As most of the women were learning to become tailors and / or beauticians / hairdressers, we took the opportunity to share with them our experiences working for product companies in the hair & beauty industry. The overall experience was positive and we really got the chance to interact deeply with the locals. I think having more hands on skills (like sewing, or hairdressing or skin therapy, massage or any other practical training) would have supported the group of women more. English and maths were some of the other areas, were we tried to support. The program gives you a chance to bring your own skills and knowledge to the table, which is great. However, I would have also liked to receive more direction from the organisation on how we could deliver most impact. Something to keep in mind and to ask prior to starting the program. All the staff at the organisation were very welcoming and made are stay enjoyable. However, we would have liked to learn more about how we could truly support the locals to deliver more impact. Our host family was great and really made us feel at home.

Great experience working with elephants
September 21, 2023by: Sam Lowe - United KingdomProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
This is a really fun project to get a chance to see and interact with elephants up close. The communication ahead of our arrival was all helpful/clear, and the train station pickup on arrival was really handy. Our guesthouse was well located, clean, and the food was really tasty. Working with the elephants we got the opportunity to get stuck in with feeding, washing, and mucking out, and the mahouts were all very supportive in guiding us and showing off the animals. They clearly know and care for them a lot. The weekend's tourist trips around Jaipur were really nice and as a lot of the sights were spread out it was comforting to have our own driver for the morning so we didn't have to navigate finding our own transport. Would recommend a composite ticket from the Amer Fort which gives access to a number of additional sights close the guesthouse to visit on foot. My only significant complaint with the process was that on a couple of occasions we were asked for tips by the mahouts, after being given a ride on an elephant, and at the end of the project. While we didn't have an issue with paying for the ride, it would have been good if the guidance we had been given had made this clear from the outset, and given us a reasonable figure or some advice on what tips are expected/unnecessary.

It was an incredible experience! I had so much fun with all the girls and had the best time at the school. I just wish that there had been more time at the school since it was only 3 hours a day and for all the travel it doesnt feel like enough time to make enough of an impact. Apart from that it was great

May 26, 2023by: Melanie Goslin - United KingdomProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
This is unlike anything I have ever done before. I volunteered for one week with my adult daughter and we had a great time. India is so vibrant and colourful. The girls we met on the project were lovely and welcomed us into the group. Some of the things I really enjoyed were the henna, yoga, teaching a women's health class (I was so surprised at what they didn't know) and the meals at the guest house. The family at the guest house were so friendly and helpful as were the project organisers. They responded to WhatsApp messages quickly and answered any questions we had. Although the accommodation was basic, there were comfortable beds, clean sheets and air conditioning in the room. I would recommend this to anyone and encourage you to take every opportunity that is offered to allow yourself a truly immersive experience where you get to see the real India!
Thank you Melanie for the review. I was such a wonderful time with you in the program. We hope you join us again in near future. Best Wishes from India !

Volunteering in India
November 22, 2022by: Nancy Osborn - United StatesEveryone thought I had lost my mind to travel to India, by myself to volunteer in an orphanage for five weeks. And there were times, I thought they were right- until I arrived at the airport and Sukret met me there and drove me to meet my host family. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left to return home, this program took great care of me! I always felt safe. I learned so much about their culture. I was able to go with the family to events, and saw so much of India. The drivers, host family, tour guides were all wonderful and took care of everything! I can't say enough good things about this program. I will be coming back and volunteering again through this program. The experience working in the orphanage was amazing and I enjoyed every moment teaching the boys English and math. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering in India. Don't hesitate or worry about utilizing Volunteering with India. Everyone is great! I want to give a special shout out to the Singh family- Love you!! Rohit, you were amazing to work with everyday and miss you! Bablu- I can't thank you enough for driving me around and the coffee was the best coffee that I've ever had in my life!! This was the best five weeks of my life!
Thank you Nancy for such a wonderful review for the program. We hope to see you soon in India.

Best volunteer program I've ever been on!! Whenever we went on an excursion we always had the best seats! E.g. Varanasi watching the incredible Brahmin Priests sundown ceremony, we had the boat at the front opposite the middle priest. There were hundreds if not thousands at that ceremony. We had an amazing view! All the drivers we had were very protective, e.g checking any change given. Everyone I met to do with the organisation were terrific. The Indian people are hugely friendly and wanted to take your photos all the time. A well oiled machine with super people!
Thank you Jenny for the review. We had such a wonderful time in Elephant Program and in tour programs.

Volunteering with India is a really good organization. I applied for women empowerment project and I had my best time. The organization helps you a lot before and during your stay. Sukret is very patient and answers your questions quickly. The girls are very kind and sociable and welcomed me with enthusiasm. During the project, I talked with them taking part in sewing and beautician classes, as well as giving English lessons. I lived for two weeks with an Indian family at the Prity guest house. They are really nice people, the food was great and the room very clean. I am really happy to have done this experience with volunteering with india, and i will surely miss the girls so much!
A great experience
April 27, 2022by: Richelle DSouza - IndiaProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
Hi All. This was my first time. I chose to volunteer here because I wanted to work with animals and be in a familiar country. The communication was handled seamless by Sukret much before I travelled. All responses were prompt and Sukret was quite considerate as he took extra care to highlight, the weather, the need to carry water on the day denoted for sightseeing. I chose to stay out on my own however was picked up and dropped off every day , on time. Shekhar, the driver was a very nice person. Not only did he drive safely, he bargained for me at local fruit stalls without me even asking for it. He took me sightseeing being mindful of what I would enjoy which he picked up on his own. He would give the little children in the village a few bucks to buy candy for themselves and always spoke respectfully and patiently. I’m glad I got to meet him. Now, the elephants. The mahouts involved with the elephants. It’s was a wonderful experience to be in such close contact of such a big animal having no previous experience under the supervision of the staff, Rohit and the mahouts. I never felt unsafe, as a woman, as the only volunteer in a village. They are all individuals, in their own person and to observe their interaction with the elephants was actually quite cool. The elephants I worked with were gentle, except for one. She was playful too. As with animals, one must respect their boundaries. All in all, the one week that I spent there was very well planned with enough work, enough opportunities to take initiative and enough free time to do your own thing. The people I worked with were wonderful and I am glad to have met them. I am an Hindi speaking person so please do note that language was not a barrier for me. The staff of VWI do speak English though. I urge one to visit with an open mind as it is a developing country and the sights of the city’s historical grandeur juxtaposed with the current reality can take a while to digest. I would want to go back again sometime and am grateful for this experience
HI Richelle, Thank you for writing such a great review for us about all your experience in the program. You have mentioned all about the program. The review will be very helpful for our future volunteers. We hope to see you again in near future in our program. Best Wishes from India !

Unforgettable experience
March 13, 2020by: Elena Bertoglio - ItalyProgram: Street Children Program in India
It was an amazing experience! The children are lovely, well educated and disciplined. I was very impressed about the organisation of the school. The staff is very helpful and supportive. I was helping the teacher with english and maths. Every week you get the schedule for the entire week and you know which topic will be covered during english or maths. I spent the holi day at the school playing with the kids and the staff and it was an unforgettable experience! I Highly recommend this project.
Thank you Elena for the review. It has been such a great time with you in the program. We hope to see you soon in Jaipur.
Lovely experience
March 05, 2020by: Alessandra Miatello - ItalyProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
Beautiful experience in close contact with elephants. We learned to clean the space in which they live, wash the elephants, feed them and take care of them. It was sometimes a tough job especially to wake up very early in the morning but it was definitely worth it. I never thought I'd find out that elephants are much closer to humans than you think. They know how to be very intelligent and also affectionate. I never felt threatened or in danger with them. Thanks for this wonderful experience, I recommend it to anyone who wants to be in contact with animals.
Thank you Alessandra for the review. It has been such a great time with you in the program. We hope to see you soon in Jaipur.

March 05, 2020by: Valerie Casto - ItalyProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
It was an unforgettable experience! I've been working on the elephants and I've learned to accuse them, talk to them, feed them, have lived in a real Indian Home, ate Indian food, and I learned to understand Indian culture! I recommend it! Every morning I woke up to help these animals! Working with them and seeing the families and children of the village made me realize the real meaning of life: Always smiling! I recommend this programme because is most complete and the guides are very competent
Thank you Valerie for the review. It has been such a great time with you in the program. We hope to see you soon in Jaipur.
Amazing experience
December 12, 2019by: Mina Joy - ItalyProgram: Medical Volunteer Program
I was in Jaipur for the medical program with Volunteering with India. We could assist to the medical checkup of youngsters from other states who were found working in factories and now are temporarily living, learning and playing at the NGO center. After that we went to the street for medical checkups inside an equipped ambulance (bus-ambulance). The Bus-Ambulance is divided in two parts, First for Doctor and second for pharmacist. It was a great experience and I was able to learn from other fields of the volunteer programs.
Thank you Mina for the review.
Best time in my life
December 10, 2019by: Kara bina - United StatesProgram: Medical Volunteer Program
Mobile medicine is a nice idea for local people who are in need or who live in some rural areas. During the experience of medical project here, I had chance to understand the local medical conditions and problems in India. I could discuss those problems with local workers, and tried to find a better ways of volunteering. I could participate in the process of medical consultation, preparing and giving medicine. After a strong cultural impact due to diversity in the approach with the patient, inadequate medical devices and a huge language barrier I found a wonderful team that taught me to recognize the associations of Indian drugs, the most common diseases in India and to deliver medicines to patients. So, even without ‘standard’ medical acts, I felt part of the team and it just made me feel like I was doing something. Definitely I would do this experience a million times again.
Thank you Kara for the review.
Lifetime experience
December 09, 2019by: Tina misel - SpainProgram: Medical Volunteer Program
The medical program with Volunteering with India is an incredible adventure on a bus-ambulance in which volunteers help the medical and pharmacist in assisting rural areas of Jaipur that otherwise would not have access to treatment. We also checked the physical conditions of children in the village once a week. I have also learned some local language to make a better interaction with local people. I really learned a lot by the observation and enjoyed these days! We also had similar program in my hometown, and I will bring my experience back to make a better medical service. I was so proud of myself at the first time that I finished the all process of preparing medicine and giving them to the patients by their language.
Thank you Tina for the review. We had a wonderful time with you in the program. We hope to see you soon here in Jaipur.
Anyone should visit...
September 06, 2019by: Teresa Neves - PortugalProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
... India at least once in their lifetime. It was my first time here and I felt safe as at home from the first instance. The first hours in India were amazing and really funny, it started on the road from Delhi to Jaipur with the coloured trucks and the horns from the traffic with the crew. The crew from Volunteeringwithindia is amazing, they helped me, showed me about the city and their work here and I learnt a lot from what I saw. I also exchanged a lot of experiences and knowledge with the other volunteers from the programme. The guesthouse was a happy sweet place and Toto was a great tuktuk driver as well as a good guide. The experience about working with the elephants was very good to me as well as the time I spent in Jaipur. I would repeat this for sure. Thank you guys!
Thank you Teresa for the review. We hope to see you here soon in Jaipur, India.

April 19, 2019by: Coline HAWRYLKO - FranceProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
I volunteered with Elephants Program for a week because I wanted to discover those magnificent animals and to be in immersion into Indian daily life, and I am fully satisfied. It's an unforgettable experience. The guesthouse family is lovely and always available to help you or happy to have conversations with you. The team members I met, Sukret, Rohid and Shekhear, were perfect. Everything was properly organized and booked. They take good care of me and, as a lonely traveler, I never felt alone. My experience with elephants was precious and mahouts' life is so interesting to discover. Big thanks to the Prity Guesthouse family and to VWI team ! I definitely recommend this program.

The most heart warming experience
April 19, 2019by: Leanne Brady - IrelandProgram: Street Children Program in India
I had an amazing experience volunteering with India. Those boys will hold a special place in my heart. Though I was only there for one week, it was an experience of a lifetime. I only wish that I had longer with them. I would certainly recommend staying for 2 weeks at least. Rohit is absolutely amazing and he made our experience one to remember. He is the programme co-ordinater and our main connection. We stayed in a hotel so I cannot comment on the guest house. Also our Tuc Tuc driver was a gent. I would come back in the morning without a doubt. As a woman you are completely safe going to work in the orphanage. Five stars from me xx
Thank you Leanne for the review.
I had a time of my life
April 19, 2019by: Katie Leddy - IrelandProgram: Street Children Program in India
We got picked up at the airport with a welcome from Sukrit. Rohit was our program coordinator. He picked us up at 6:30 one morning to bring us to the Taj Mahal and also brought us to get sarees which we wore at the Taj Mahal. It was an unbelievable experience. Rohit also met us every morning at the orphanage. This programme was unreal, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The children were all so welcoming and very eager to learn. I felt so grateful that Rohit was taking care of us as he was very funny and good craic. He offered great advice throughout our time spent in India.

April 19, 2019by: Teresa Leddy - IrelandProgram: Street Children Program in India
At the Airport We were met by Sukret and taken by car to our accommodation.. Rohit was our coordinator and from the bottom of my heart he was just fantastic, he made us feel so welcome. He took us on a day trip to the Taj Mahl, and then met with us every morning at the orphanage, Anything we requested, places to go or see, Rohit made sure our requests was met. Our experience at the orphanage was amazing.. On our first day I was anxious because i was not sure what to expect.. But after 5 minutes I loved it.. I was only here for 1 week and i must admit it was not enough.. The children are amazing and extremely happy where they are..

The experience of a lifetime
April 13, 2019by: Taj Singhrao - United KingdomProgram: Street Children Program in India
India is such a special place, revealing the best and worst aspects of humanity and human life. Certainly for me, India constantly provokes a personal question about ones values and strength of conviction. Can you put your money where your mouth is? Can you walk the walk? Volunteering in India is one of the most moving and rewarding experiences I have had in my life. The volunteering programmes offered by Volunteering with India (VWI) are safe and robust. There are many diverse opportunities here to make a difference, however big or small. The organisation was created with the pure and sincere intention of making a difference to those in need. VWI has offered countless opportunities for those in need to receive from those who are fortunate enough to be able to give. Volunteering experiences are made much more special by a generous and earnest welcome into the heart of the culture and the city of Jaipur, the community; the people and their families. Volunteers are looked after well, but most importantly included into a family and community for a true and real experience of India. An unforgettable experience - one I hope to repeat many times again.
Thank you Taj for the review.

Absolutely Wonderful Experience!
January 06, 2016by: Kate PowellMy host family was great. The food and room were very nice and the family included me in many activities. Amazing project staff. Govine was very friendly and helpful. He helped me learn a lot about the elephants and the children's program. He also helped me a lot when I was teaching! I volunteered with VWI because I love elephants and I volunteer with children in America so I thought this program had 2 volunteer options that I love. I also have always wanted to travel to India. Volunteering with this program gave me an opportunity to travel around an amazing country and help make a difference in their community. I had such a wonderful time. I am so happy to have participated in this program and would highly recommend this program! Thank you!

Everything is absolutely lovely, from the people working in this organization to the programs themselves. I deeply recommend this to everyone looking for an adventure and wanting to have an impact in the life of someone. Everyone who I have met during my time there has taught me at least a lesson. My view of the world got more comprehensive and my perception of my own person and culture has changed.

Best experience in my life, best volunteering and of course best people! The women project is like being at home. They always have everything for you. Their smiles and hugs can make anyone feel the best way you could feel. Incredible people, incredible India. Always <3. Very good, perfect transport service! Totaram is the best, always taking care of me and every day with a smile in his face. He's the best!! I chose volunteering with India because I could mix Elephant and Women projects in the same summer. I had very helpful and nice project staff everyday. The living accommodations was the best place I could stay. Just like at home.

December 13, 2015by: Melissa Mamayek - New BerlinProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
Sukret and the team had everything planned out perfectly. As a solo traveler I didn't know what to expect but when I arrived they made sure I was taken care of for the full week. The host family was extremely welcoming and I really enjoyed our regular tuk-tuk driver, all of which made it possible to really enjoy time with the elephants who are just about the most amazing and personable creatures. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

It sounded too good to be missed!
December 08, 2015by: Isadora Cole - United KingdomProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
I volunteered with VWI to experience a truly Indian environment and to help out the mahouts were we could. In a lovely location, offered at a good price and the website reviews helped in our decision. It sounded too good to be missed! Govind was a fantastic helper during the week - he's well-spoken and welcoming showing us all we needed to know and open to answering any questions asked. Showed us life in Jaipur and took us kite flying which was great fun! Sukret was fantastic in communication before arrival and very helpful. Clean, lovely family home offering delicious vegetarian Indian cuisine three times a day! They were a kind family. We had a kind driver and efficient with time. He made us feel safe and bought us chai every morning when it was cold. A warm welcome from Sukret waiting to pick us up, even on a late Sunday night! With a sign and a smile.
Thank you for the review.

I decided to volunteer with VWI because I wanted to experience to live with an Indian family and work with elephants and to get a great experience. Very friendly and welcoming pickup! A great way to start a trip. Very welcoming and friendly staff, really nice and took us kite flying which was amazing. They answered all our questions. Excellent accommodations! I love the food so much I could eat it forever! The family were lovely and friendly and helpful. Really nice and spacious bedroom. We had a great driver and I felt very safe with him even though the roads were so crazy. He was a very nice man.

December 08, 2015by: Vesela Manolova - BulgariaProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
My first days in India were not perfect, there is a big difference in the life style here and in my country. But after a few days with the host family and working with the elephants I felt in love with India and its culture. The host family is lovely, helpful and caring. They were just amazing. Especially to celebrate Diwali with them was a privilege for me. They made me and all of us feel like at home, bringing us closer to their life and traditions. Always with smiles on their faces and ready to help with everything. We had also a lot of going out together, dancing and talking. It was also really nice that there were volunteers at this time with me. We spent great time together, I believe we will stay friends. The elephant project is very interesting. I felt my help was meaningful for the mahouts and the elephants. I extremely enjoyed washing and feeding them. So lovely and intelligent animals. :) The project in totality is well organized, the working time is very good, we have enough free time, the transportation was only on time, the staff especially seem to help a lot with advices and we had lots of fun together. I hope that it was also a positive experience for them, too as it was for me. And one big thank you to you Sukret and to the whole staff making up this amazing program. This is definitely one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Thank you!

I volunteered to work with the elephants in Jaipur for three weeks. What an amazing experience I had. Feeding the elephants, bathing them, riding to a wedding party and generally spending time with the Mahouts, who do an amazing job with the ellies I would have loved to have stayed longer. Riding on the Tut Tut at 4.30 in the morning was quite an experience too, loved calling for Chai and snacks on way back to Guest house Wedding parties Some awesome sights and the people welcome you as their own Fun packed three weeks So glad I chose to do it. Miss everyone toooooooooooo much Try it you will love it, its for all ages :-)

Comforting
December 04, 2015by: Adrienne Tlapa - United StatesProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
Very comforting to know that when travelling to a foreign country alone for the first time, someone will be there to pick you up. Also people will be there at the family guest house to help you find things, translate, and make recommendations. The volunteer experience was fun, timely and safe, and although things don't always go as planned, the staff are very accommodating to each person's needs and wants and very eager to provide each person with a beneficial, memorable experience. Everything was very good, accommodations were clean, food was filling, and family was very helpful.

Tiring but fantastic!
December 04, 2015by: Miriam Gordon - EnglandProgram: Women Empowerment Volunteer in India
The project staff was helpful with translation and directions but more information at the start of the week would have been more helpful. Staying with the family was brilliant and being a part of the projects was amazing as they are doing good work. Tiring, but fantastic!

I learned so much and had the best experience. I hope to come again
December 04, 2015by: Steve Hughes - EnglandI was picked up at the airport without any problems and the taxi was always on time. Always a friendly and happy transport service! Very nice accommodations and friendly host family. We had good and enjoyable food. Brilliant project staff. Everyone was very helpful and Govind was a very big help and always keen to assist with the teaching. I did not know what to expect and was a little nervous to begin with. But everyone made it very easy. The children were an inspiration and it was a pleasure to attend and teach them all. I bonded very quickly and it was hard to say goodbye and my tears almost came when one boy was upset that I was leaving. I would tell everyone to grab this opportunity with both hands. It's amazing!

Elephants and children
December 04, 2015by: Siobhan Young - AustraliaProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
Project staff was good. A little more guidance and communication would be nice ahead of time. As some days were confusing. But overall, very friendly and welcoming. Accommodation was really good, nice family, and helped us with our basic needs. There wasn't much variation in meals, but what we had was good. More variety would have been nice. The transport service was really good! Totoram was so lovely and was never too late! The airport pick up service was a little bit late but otherwise fine. I chose to volunteer with VWI mostly because the organization was the cheapest, and I liked what it had to offer. Working with the children was a worthy cause to volunteer with. The organization does good work here. The elephant project was a very interesting experience, definitely worth doing. Thanks Sukret for your kindness!

Fascinating!
December 03, 2015by: Eric Turner - EnglandProgram: Volunteer Teaching Program in India
I decided to visit India and researched many companies via their websites. VWI has an excellent website and gives all the relevant information. Communication with Sukret was excellent and the price was reasonable. Food and host family were excellent. I was without hot water or shower facilities all week. I have experienced a fascinating week in Jaipur. The way of life is completely different -- busy, hectic, and noisy. I have seen the problems that exist with poverty, but I am very impressed by the efforts of many people to make things better. My teaching time was very enjoyable -- i loved the children. I take many good memories and new friendships back home.

Our pick up from the airport was great! We didn't even wait one minute. I liked the food very much and the room was basic but had everything we needed. Govind was amazing. Without him we'd be lost. So helpful everyday. He really went out of his way to make this a great experience - again. An experience worth remembering
November 24, 2015by: SaraProgram: Street Children Program in India
My experience volunteering in India with VWI has been the most powerful and most meaningful experience I have ever had! The pick-up service upon arrival was good. I arrived in Jaipur earlier that expected because incoming flight from Delhi left early, and even if I arrived earlier I only had to wait for ten minutes before my pick-up service came to get me. It was a joy to stay with my host family and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. My accommodations was fairly comfortable, the food was FAULTLESS! My host mother probably serves the best chaise and chapatis in the area! The transport service is very efficient and the staff at the project were nice and sympathetic. I chose to volunteer with VWI for the reason that I wanted to help and volunteer with kids who are victims of abuse in India during the winter break. So I search for these types of volunteer programs in India and VWI is the best that I found. The flexibility and the variety of the projects offered are simply the best. It's a 10 out of 10! Thank you VWI!

November 18, 2015by: Alex Miller - PerthProgram: Street Children Program in India
I am so thankful for a volunteering week in India that has been so amazing. It is something that I could not have hoped for. It was fulfilling, colorful, and exciting! I took part in the street children project for a week where I taught English, Arts, Math, and played games with the kids who were once street children of Jaipur. I also was able to spend a day volunteering at the elephant project and made some big elephant sized chapati! Aside from volunteering, we also got to celebrate the holy day kite festival. The children made kites and ate sweets on the rooftops, visited the Krishna temple at night, ate Pani Puri, and Indian desserts. We also were able to celebrate an engagement and wedding party with the staff of VWI! When we were in Jaipur, we stayed with a homestead and had delicious meals as well as watched a lot of bollywood! Everything was well organized! Jaipur is totally incredible, beautiful, and a city that is colorful to be immersed in. Outside of our homestead were flower markets and stalls with a rainbow array of sari's. This experience has been my first teaching volunteer post and although it was intimidating, I felt I had a lot of support and had a great time! I would definitely love to return someday!

Fantastic Experience
October 12, 2015by: Thomas - FloridaProgram: Elephant Volunteer Work & Animal Conservation in India
Doing a Volunteer work with elephants in Jaipur was a wonderful experience. First of all, thanks to our host family they take care us well. They not only shared incredible love but also very informative, patient and gave us plenty of options during our stay. At first on our day 1, I must admit I was rather timid around the elephants but after thirty minutes I felt like I had made some new best friends. During our stay my wife, some friends and I learned how to feed the elephants and establish a relationship. Soon, we were doing things I never imagined like bathing and feeding the elephants from close-up. Doing a care work with elephants isn't just a fun experience but a true bonding experience between you and these wonderful, mysterious animals. Not only do you leave with a greater understanding of the species but an appreciation for mahouts efforts in creating a serene and humane habitat for the elephants. If you're going to India spend at least 1 weeks with them.
Thank you Thomas for review to our program. You have done a great for the Elephants at the program site. We will be miss you that's sure!

We hope to see you back.

I decided when I was organising my trip to India that I wanted to perform some service and give back to the community.
