Many children in India are not able to enroll in schools because of poverty. Their parents cannot afford to send them to school or to buy the needed books. Government schools that do not charge fees are available, but they provide low-quality education. VWI tries to address the issue by providing free education facilities in rural areas and slums in India. More than 80 children attend our centers every day and are provided free refreshments and stationery. Foreign volunteers can help by participating in activities like helping local teachers improve their techniques and method as well as teaching basic Mathematics and English.
Program Highlights
Work on-site at the local education center for rural and slum children.
Get involved in classroom teaching.
Help children and local volunteer teachers improve their pronunciation/spoken English.
Visit the area and talk to parents regarding their children's regular school attendance.
Experience India during excursions and interactions with the local people.

We had very good pick up at the bus station, perfect transport service, great living accommodations, and very nice and helpful project staff! It was an amazing experience and I would love to repeat something like this. I will miss India and the children very very much.
