Program Overview

We have a program open to participants who want to help our Medical Mobile Van Team. Under this project, our prime focus is to provide for and support the population living in rural areas and slums in Jaipur. The clinic reassures them that they are not alone in this world, strengthens their self-confidence and shows that somebody is there to care for, love and support them

Our mobile van, a well-equipped clinic, operates daily and caters directly to our target population to offer them counseling, health, and medical services. The clinic reassures them that they are not alone in the world.

As a medical volunteer, your role will be mainly observational. If you have no experience, doctors will show you all they can as well as introduce you to many different cases. You will be given more responsibilities, including the possibility of more hands-on work if you possess a medical background.

This service is generally for the children or people which are not able to afford medicine, doctor fees, not aware by the diseases and come from BPL (below poverty line).

Really nice experience.

I did medical volunteering program in Jaipur. The experience was great. The house had a great location, the family was very kind, food was great. In the hospital I had the oportunity to listen to the different cases as well as try some practical things. The only obstacle was language, but doctor tried to explain everything to me. On the weekend I also had the oportunity to go sightseeing, we visited Amber Fort and other famous places in Jaipur. All in all the stay was pleasant and I had a really great time.

Unique immersive experience

My daughter and I spent 2 weeks in Jaipur volunteering with the Mobile Medical Van. The staff was very friendly and the organization is doing commendable work in providing counseling on various health issues and primary health care to children living in underdeveloped areas . We also got a chance to observe few of the other programs run by VWI , including the Women’s empowerment program and the children’s theatre program, which are also run very well. The host family was friendly and warm and the food was fresh and healthy . Overall a great experience !!

Unforgettable experience

I had the best time during this volunteer program, i learnt a lot regarding to medicine and Indian coulture. I had a chance to assist the staff by operating medical devices, measuring blood pressure and make injections. Everybody was very friendly and I felt comfortable working in a small team in the clinic. I would recommend it to anyone interested in working in healthcare and gaining some medical experience. I think 2 weeks is a minimum. The program is mainly observational, and without knowing Hindi I missed a lot on what the patients and doctor said, so make sure you learn some basics beforehand, to not feel left out. Not everything was included(tickets for sightseeing, transport for the evening shift).

Response from provider

Thank you Kamila for the review.

Volunteer Madical

Thank you for good experience. Guest house and food there was really good. Support also. Rohit is very competent man! But he has bad jokes! :D I take away an interesting experience from the clinic, one week was enough. For future volunteers, I would recommend visiting other places as well.

Response from provider

Thank you Josef for the review.

Amazing experience

I was in Jaipur for the medical program with Volunteering with India. We could assist to the medical checkup of youngsters from other states who were found working in factories and now are temporarily living, learning and playing at the NGO center. After that we went to the street for medical checkups inside an equipped ambulance (bus-ambulance). The Bus-Ambulance is divided in two parts, First for Doctor and second for pharmacist. It was a great experience and I was able to learn from other fields of the volunteer programs.

Response from provider

Thank you Mina for the review.

Best time in my life

Mobile medicine is a nice idea for local people who are in need or who live in some rural areas. During the experience of medical project here, I had chance to understand the local medical conditions and problems in India. I could discuss those problems with local workers, and tried to find a better ways of volunteering. I could participate in the process of medical consultation, preparing and giving medicine. After a strong cultural impact due to diversity in the approach with the patient, inadequate medical devices and a huge language barrier I found a wonderful team that taught me to recognize the associations of Indian drugs, the most common diseases in India and to deliver medicines to patients. So, even without ‘standard’ medical acts, I felt part of the team and it just made me feel like I was doing something. Definitely I would do this experience a million times again.

Lifetime experience

The medical program with Volunteering with India is an incredible adventure on a bus-ambulance in which volunteers help the medical and pharmacist in assisting rural areas of Jaipur that otherwise would not have access to treatment. We also checked the physical conditions of children in the village once a week. I have also learned some local language to make a better interaction with local people. I really learned a lot by the observation and enjoyed these days! We also had similar program in my hometown, and I will bring my experience back to make a better medical service. I was so proud of myself at the first time that I finished the all process of preparing medicine and giving them to the patients by their language.

Response from provider

Thank you Tina for the review. We had a wonderful time with you in the program. We hope to see you soon here in Jaipur.
