Program Overview

Are you a sports enthusiast? This volunteer project abroad is for you! Coach sports at schools, community outreach programs, and creches. At the same time, gain an insight into sports administration within a nonprofit organization and have lots of fun under the sun!

Poorer areas in South Africa find it hard to receive proper sports coaching and facilities are limited. This is where the Sports Experience project plays such an important role. Established in 1992, it facilitates outreach programs in schools and creches to engage underprivileged children in physical education and sports – swimming (recently), cricket, bowls, hockey, touch rugby, soccer, golf, and cycling. The project provides talented youth, who normally would not have access to sports, with the opportunity to enjoy and excel in their favorite sport.

Certain sports are seasonal according to the South African school term, although some take place throughout the year. Please contact us for complete details about this project. Volunteers must be at least 17 years old to join. The minimum duration is 2 weeks and longer stays are subject to visa requirements.
