Program Overview

Volunteer at an Exotic Primate Sanctuary and contribute to the welfare of rescued primates, some critically endangered. This project allows you to gain hands-on experience, support research and education, and enjoy a rewarding personal experience through direct interaction with amazing, entertaining characters and their dedicated carers. Your role involves assisting with the care, feeding, health treatment, and enclosure maintenance for various primate species rescued from unsuitable situations to help ensure a better quality of life for the rest of their natural lives.

The Exotic Primate Sanctuary is home to 11 species of rescued primates, with around 195 primates including bush babies (galagos), capuchins (tufted, weeper, golden tufted), tamarins (cotton-top, golden hand), marmosets, squirrel monkeys, and a mongoose lemur. The sanctuary also has squirrels and sugar gliders. It has 92 enclosures and cages housing all these animals: 44 large enclosures, 8 hospital cages, and 40 temporary cages for the new rescues.

This project is available throughout the year, with start dates from Monday to Friday and a minimum duration of 2 weeks. Longer stays are subject to visa requirements.
