Program Overview

Sal Island, Cabo Verde | Project Biodiversity

Passionate about nature? Join our volunteer programme on Sal Island and help protect its wildlife and natural habitats!

About Project Biodiversity

Project Biodiversity is a Cabo Verdean non-profit organisation protecting Sal’s biodiversity through sea turtle conservation, bird monitoring, habitat restoration, marine conservation, and environmental education. We work with local communities and international volunteers to protect wildlife and promote a sustainable future.

What will you do?

Sal is more than its beautiful beaches. It is home to seabirds, endemic plants, coastal dunes, and fragile ecosystems that need protection.

With our local team, you may take part in:
- Bird monitoring and conservation data collection.
- Coastal dune and habitat restoration.
- Growing and planting native and endemic plants.
- Wildlife surveys to better understand local biodiversity.

Activities depend on the season and conservation priorities. Your contribution supports ongoing efforts to restore habitats and protect local wildlife.

Why join us?

Gain practical conservation experience, learn new skills, discover Sal beyond its tourist areas, and meet people who care about nature. No previous experience is required—just motivation and a willingness to learn.
