January 04, 2021by: Mara Dall - AustraliaI did this online teaching experience course in conjunction with the Level 5 TEFL Certificate course by TEFL Academy. I wasn't sure how useful it would be - but in 2020, online was the only way to get any sort of teaching qualification like this. So I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I got out of doing this. We had some excellent presentations to prepare us for live teaching, and then some practical experience as well. We were able to do some small group work, for discussion and teaching preparation, and then do joint mini teaching presentations to the larger group (which wasn't actually that large, so we got a lot of personal attention during the day). Our instructor was professional and friendly - and obviously experienced & knowledgable. She was able to put us at ease, and to help us appropriately when help was needed. Overall, I would recommend this online teaching experience course as a good option when you are not able to do live teaching practicum for whatever reason.
