Time to expand your mindset
September 01, 2025by: Dabney Rocano - United StatesProgram: The Experiment Spain: Spanish Language, Community EngagementThe study abroad trip was an extraordinary experience to learn about culture and immerse myself in the community I spent time with. The activities throughout the day and the scheduled day make it fun, with the sights, places, and foods to get to see and taste. Truly bonded with the family I spent time with, who made it so special. It's an unforgettable experience that I 00% recommend to those interested in traveling, learning more communicative skills, and are ready to get a little uncomfortable!
Japanese Summer!
August 31, 2025by: Laila Kim - United StatesProgram: The Experiment: Japan: Language & CultureGoing to Japan was something I had dreamed about for a long time. I was introduced through anime and manga, but quickly became fascinated with their history, language, and culture. Participating in the Experiment gave me the opportunity to experience the things I had admired and researched independently. Going to historical sites like Hiroshima Castle, viewing art at the Osaka National Art Museum, and eating cultural cuisine like Takoyaki were memories that I will always treasure. I learned so much about Japanese people by talking to the college students who accompanied us and observing people in everyday settings. This was especially true during the Homestay. Spending time in a Japanese home I got to experience a typical weekend for my family, allowing me to have an authentic perspective of what life is like in a different culture. With my homestay family I got to dress in Yukata and go to a local festival, or Omatsuri. This was the highlight of my trip! Watching Taiko and talking with local residents was such a unique experience. I’m so glad the Experiment matched me with such welcoming and lovely people! Everything from the quiet bullet train rides to the bustling area of Dotonburi were thoughtfully planned by the experiment to give greater understanding of Japan. This program was great for people who want to be introduced to Japanese culture!
Best experience ever
August 21, 2025by: Kasper Murat - United StatesProgram: The Experiment: France: Cultural DiscoveryThe experiment was the best experience of my life. First off Amy and Danielle were absolutely amazing leaders and extremely easy to talk to and the friends I made in the group were extremely nice as well! Along with this the homestay experience was the most uncomfortable yet rewarding experience yet, I had the time of my life living amongst my host family and was able to see how it is to live in a family that is completely different than mine. I would do this all again if I could!

I love travelling and learning about new cultures. Prior to my abroad experience with the Experiment, I traveled to a handful of countrie, and my mother always challenged me and my brother to explore cities beyond the hotels and tourism. She always said the best way to learn about a people's way of life is through their eyes. She always forced us to step out of our comfort zone, and that expanded my interest in what else is out there. I wanted to enrich myself with more knowledge and experience new cultures first hand.

I got inspired to go abroad because I wanted to expand my worldview and I am deeply interested in seeing the politics/international relations of a country other than my own (the United States). I knew I always wanted to learn about another country, but I wanted to actually visit there to authentically learn about the country, rather than have American media teach me. I also got inspired because I want to prove to my community that studying abroad is an option, and that if you work hard then doors will open.

I love to travel and experience other cultures. I have traveled to the Philippines to see my family and experience Filipino culture. I used to live in Taiwan, so why not go to another Asian country with different beliefs and cultures.
