Program Overview

Interested in teaching youth and community service in Hong Kong this summer? Apply to be a 2027 Summerbridge Hong Kong Student Teacher!

Founded in 1992, Summerbridge Hong Kong is a non-profit organisation, which creates unique educational opportunities for underprivileged secondary school students in Hong Kong. Each summer, our students are immersed in a five-week, English-only environment, in which they are taught and mentored by a motivated group of student teachers from local and overseas high schools and universities. The exceptional quality of our programme results from our "students teaching students" model, which offers older students the opportunity to teach younger students in a safe, supportive, and diverse learning environment where young people are both the initiators and beneficiaries of the educational process.

With help and guidance from experienced Summerbridge teachers, student teachers commit to eight weeks of comprehensive teaching and community service, in which they complete a teacher training, create their own curriculum, teach their own classes, and evaluate student performance. Common to all student teachers is a commitment to both teaching and learning, and a willingness to work in an intensive yet highly rewarding environment that celebrates creativity, compassion, and meaningful human connections.
