Community Development Volunteers and Interns
Program Overview
Community Development Volunteers:
Volunteers are usually international and eager to learn more about the culture and understand the real global challenges.
- Mobilization: Sensitize communities in Masaka about HIV testing, MHM, WASH, and organic farming through home visits + community meetings
- School Support: Co-facilitate clubs with teachers, mentor peer educators
- Follow-up: Do home visits for girls at risk of dropout, the elderly needing water/latrine support
- Data: Help fill attendance sheets, simple baseline/end line surveys for M&E
- Linkage: Refer clients to health facilities for HIV testing, counseling, and SRH services
Interns:
- Program Support: Assist in planning workshops, preparing IEC materials, and setting up community outreaches
- Research & Documentation: Collect data, take photos, write field notes, and support reports for donors
- Training: Get trained on CSE, U=U, MHM, then co-facilitate sessions in schools/communities
- Environment Projects: Support water source cleaning, plate rack construction, and tree planting records
- Innovation: Bring fresh ideas from their university/course - e.g., social media awareness, new teaching games

Is there any salary or compasation?
No payment because all the activities are on volunteer basis.
Do we have to pay more money to engage in some activtites?
If you pay the identified weekly costs, you will have everything covered unless you need to make your own travels besides work, eat food outside work, or if you want to make special donations besides the planned activities.
Is there any possibility of adventure?
In case you want to make a tour in Uganda like in Sese Islands, Murchison Falls National Park, Lake Mburo, and Queen Elizabeth, and others, you have to incur your costs and should always be done in the last week and last days.
Should we work with the guidence of local team?
With interns, you will have a local supervisor to work within the organization. For volunteers, we work together as a team.
Is there a vehicle to the field work?
We don't own the vehicle but we always hire a car, motorcycle, or bodaboda during field work and also to and from work.
