by: St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation

Add first reviewSince 2017

Intern or volunteer in Ghana through the St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation’s Optometry Program and support communities with limited access to eye care. Rural and semi-rural regions face a high rate of visual impairment due to a shortage of qualified optometrists, limited facilities, low public awareness, and inadequate optical education. This program is ideal for international students passionate about optometry or ophthalmology who want to contribute meaningfully to eye health services in underserved areas. You'll assist local eye clinics, support visual screenings, and take part in direct patient care. As a participant, you will: • Engage in clinical optometry tasks alongside local professionals • Promote eye health through community education and awareness • Help bridge the gap in eye care services and resources • Improve communication skills through local outreach and patient interaction The program runs year-round and partners with clinics across rural and semi-rural Ghana, offering a hands-on, culturally rich experience that supports both learning and community impact.
