This Chinese Immersion Camp in Tianjin was easily one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. As a 19-year-old student with only basic Chinese skills, I was worried about keeping up with the other participants at first—but from day one, the teachers and staff made me feel incredibly welcome and at ease. The Chinese classes were highly practical, focusing on real-life conversation. By the end of the first week, I was already ordering food, haggling at markets, and chatting with local Chinese students in Chinese. This wasn’t textbook learning; it was using the language to live. The cultural experiences were unforgettable. We hiked the Great Wall, visited the Ancient Culture Street, tried the iconic local breakfasts, and joined a traditional calligraphy workshop. Every activity felt like a window into authentic Chinese life, not just a tourist attraction—it was so much fun! If I get the chance, I want to join the Chongqing Chinese Immersion Camp next year to visit the legendary Hongyadong, taste authentic hotpot, and become more fluent in Chinese.
