Can I join the program at any time?
We offer individually tailored start dates between September and March for our 3-month Dance Gap Year series. While we operate on a seasonal model, we understand that each dancer’s journey is unique, so yes, we are open to accommodating flexible start dates within that window.
What is housing like in New York City?
We provide several housing options to fit different needs:
- Dormitory-Style Living: Ideal for participants under 21 or those seeking a more structured, community-based experience.
- Shared Apartment Living: Available for participants 21 years or older, or those living with a parent or legal guardian.
Participants over 21 may live independently in shared artist housing, while younger participants must either stay in our dorms or with family.
What does the Dance Gap Year program include?
Our Dance Gap Year program is a comprehensive 3-month immersive experience designed to support artistic, professional, and personal growth.
You will receive:
- Weekly tailored dance classes across NYC studios
- Creative mentorship with professional artists
- Branding mentorship for personal career development
- A professional photo shoot to build your dance portfolio
- Company Culture: dancing with a professional company
What is the audition process for Dance Gap Year?
We do not require a formal audition. Our program is intentionally non-audition-based because we believe in accessibility, growth, and the unique journey of each artist.
Who can apply?
We welcome dancers of all levels 17-25 who have at least 3 years of movement experience in any style at any point in their lives. This includes dancers returning after a break, interdisciplinary movers, and those exploring new creative paths.
